Gas prices were this high in 2022 due to the Russia/Ukraine conflict (the chart porn proves it) and the BlueMAGA cult members just put Ukrainian flags in their yard and cheered. How's that for politics? The country is a ****ing mess, has been a ****ing mess, and will continue to be a ****ing mess, and well over half the population has their heads stuffed up their ass and think electing ANY of these worthless pukes will fix the ****ing mess. How's that for politics since we have to go there?

As much as I'd love to see it, I can't buy it. Unlike 2003 we don't have a Tayshuan Prince waiting in the wings to overtake Michael Curry and shut down TMac. Unless you think that's Ron... That said, I'd actually love to see a lineup shakeup. What do we have to lose at this point? We aren't scoring in the half-court with any lineup JB puts out there, so let's take back the paint and try to win the possession battle again. Give me a bunch of double-big with Stew alongside Duren and Reed to match their size and put a better defender on Paulo. Play Ron and more Javonte for disruption. Lean into our identity even harder and just try to impose our will on Orlando for once. If we're gonna go out in the first round, let's go out embracing our identity. -

Ethan is a lot more accurate than Spotrac (which is not reliable at all) and closer than Cots (although Cots has gotten better at back of roster estimations) https://x.com/i/status/2047692416472297586

Exactly. Cade and Ausar are the building blocks. First team All NBA PG and a First Team All Defensive wing. While a (real) second All-Star would be nice, you really just need basic 3-and-D players at SG and PF along with a cheap Center. A basic backup ballhandler off the bench who isn't a G-Leaguer would help as well. That's not asking much and luckily you have a 22 year old first time All-Star you can sign and trade this offseason to help get a significant portion of that accomplished. -
Everything they do is to please a 4 year old man child

Yep, if they thought they could actually take down ABC in all of these markets, they wouldn't be doing it given the immediate blowback they would get from actual consumers who like the products that ABC conveys over their air. It's red meat for the base.

I'm as doom and gloom about this team as anyone, but they could still win this series. orlando isnt that good. the pistons could get better shooting and/or a supercade game and win 3 straight against this team. not likely, but not impossible. ask tracy mcgrady. -
Those countries don’t have a corrupt government that has been bought off by the Oil & Gas Industry.

I've beat this drum many times and will keep beating it, but while the die hards are a tough nut to crack, they aren't the entirety of those who cast a ballot for Donald Trump. And the die-hards alone a much more of a rump faction than a lot of us realize. The declining poll numbers and fortunes for his party are a reflection of this IMO

Every UDFA signs for 3 years at $3M which is league minimum. You look at the guarantees. He only got $175k guaranteed and $25k in signing bonus. -
you can lead a horse to taking advanced CPR and 5 independent study courses, but you cant make him drink!

That 'arrogant ass' being another great character portrayal by Stellan Skarsgard, BTW.

This would be the biggest self own in history. By far the highest % of passport holders are the highest educated demo and that demo is about as strongly Dem as any.

glad mine is good for another 9 yrs.

I suppose there comes a time in every 'denialist' movement when the fantasy finally becomes unsustainable - at least for the majority. 'holic has a place in his heart for Babe the Blue Ox and maybe would love the world that truck represents to somehow keep going, and for all those hoping it could, Trump was probably their big hope, and when the real world has been shown to chew Trump up and spit him out, maybe that will finally break the illusion for some folks. And the thing is, I was there, that wasn't actually such a great world compared to this one anyway, it's a bill of goods.

We signed a UDFA linebacker (Saturday night or Sunday... Erick Hunter, so already known...): For $3 mill.: Lions Make Big Financial Commitment to Land Athletic Rookie LB So my guess is... they think pretty highly of him making the 53-man roster would be my guess. Probably as a special teamer to begin with and then... expand his role eventually? Seems to be quite a commitment to a UDFA... Unless these numbers are incorrect?

Im sorry but it’s impossible to separate politics from the investing thread anymore since that’s cause for all economic movement at the moment.

Gasoline prices loom large IMO.... people previously associated, rightly or wrongly, Trump with low gasoline prices. The whole "I'll take the cheap gas and the mean tweets" sentiment was very prevalent in 2024. That narrative of Trump has been blown to smithereens at this point. It's gone.

I worked at Honeybaked Ham for about 3 years in the 80s. Mostly a very easy, laid-back job. You can get a lot of studying done most of the year (or get really good at foil-ball floor broom hockey), but the holidays, oh my word. Hired a lot of extra help and it was like an assembly line, but you get rotated around to different duties. Cutting hams in half, glazing the hams with the torches, taking them from the torching rings to the wrappers, and then wrapping them in foil. Seems like that wrapping job would be easy? It was the worst. Speed was everything and the runner would put the ham on a flattened foil sheet and you need to wrap that puppy up in 10 - 15 seconds so nobody is standing there with a molten ham in their hands. First time I did that wrapping part, I did not wear gloves to get a better grip. Probably at least a dozen paper cuts (on each hand), but made with foil So painful. Then I am showing my co-workers how many cuts I had and a guy named Dan Zammet walked by with liquid cleanser and squirted a bunch in my hands. I liked Dan, he was funny, but I will never forgive him for that. If I ever see him again (haven't since the mid 90s), he knows that'll be the first thing I bring up. I don't see much of anyone anymore. I don't drink anymore and I have severed a few friendships because of their politics and I don't like leaving the house. With the ear damage I am a bit scared of going to concerts because I don't want to damage my good ear. I just want to chill at home with my dog and my Tigers games.
