Shea Langeliers is emerging as a legit star. I thought he was going to be a top tier player. I didn't see Ben Rice emerging as a bona fide star. i think he's the early favorite for AL MVP. Mickey Moniak and Matt Olson are off to hot starts but I'm sure they'll find some way to give the NL MVP to Ohtani. They really want someone to win more mvp's than Bonds.

From the moment I saw Bane's contract 3 years ago I said it was an overpay. The worst thing you can do in the NBA is max out an "almost All-Star". Especially in the new cap. Bane isn't a #1 or a #2. He's not an All NBA player. If he makes an All-Star team some year he'll be squeaking in as a reserve. Sound familiar? Jalen Duren, this is you I'm talking about. You want those guys on team friendly contracts, like Trey Murphy's deal. Not a max. -
I wonder if teams passed on McGonigle because he was from the Philly area. I know teams passed on Mike Trout because he was from Jersey...not far from Philly because there was this belief that trout didn't face tough competition. Wonder if the same was true of McGonigle. But high school kids are really just a crap shoot.

I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of a baseball club don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. -
Why? He already had 3 years left on his deal and we haven't even gotten to play a game in the second round of the playoffs yet. Are they trying to get ahead of the CotY awards in case he wins it? Previously we had a Weaver organization that made moves on top of moves, recklessly firing "all the bullets in the clip" and shedding assets along the way. Now we have the opposite. An organization that is loyal to a fault. This is the type of organization that cripples its future by giving Duren a max contract, so get ready for it.

You know what. He only plays every 5th day. If they let this totally derail them, then they don't deserve to make it. On the other thand when it's Skubal........and.....Mize......and....Olson.....and......Melton........well, then it's concerning Let's just be thankful to be in a division where 82-85 probably wins it this year. -
And up until last week wasn’t Chayka managing 15 Wendy’s franchises, having been out of hockey for 6 years? Edit: Yes. But it was 50 franchises. .

I am confident the Tigers will survive and Skubal will return, but because of this he will only be able to go 5 innings in the deciding game of a playoff series, not 6. -

The report is that Iran hit the terminus of UAE's pipeline bypassing Hormuz - if true that's maybe another million BBL/day taken off the market.

if Melton is back quick and is good, and Flaherty straightens out, they *might* stay in it, but this is pretty much turning out to be a season from HeII -

I have been assured repeatedly that Harris Hinch prefers pitching chaos, as well as a roster of nothing but utility players, because they think it highlights their contrarian genius or something -
Two questions: Who is **** is Magoo? What is with the sad-looking emoji and what's coming out of his mouth? Is that a flex of some kind?

2026 Detroit Lions Offseason Thread

All I said was that the trade was worth it in my eyes. TeSlaa showed real promise last year in a very limited role. Random 3rd round picks, whether selected by a good GM in Holmes or an unproven GM (to be kind) in Gladstone, are closer to late round lottery picks than sure-fire contributors. Holmes has picked Alim McNeill, Iffy Melifonwu, Kerby Joseph, Hendon Hooker, Brodric Martin, and Isaac TeSlaa in the third round. Go back another five years to get another GM’s perspective, Quinn took Julian Okwara, Jonah Jackson, Will Harris, Tracy Walker, Kenny Golladay, and Graham Glasgow in the 3rd round. It’s hit and miss. If a GM I trust like Holmes sees an Alim/Kerby type in the 3rd round, I’m okay with him sacrificing picks that are more likely (in his mind) to become Brodric Martin than the guy he’s going up to get. To say “yeah but the picks he gave up could have been TWO Alim/Kerby types” is painting a picture of the draft board like very likely doesn’t exist, or at the very least is entirely unrealistic for the kind of scouting skills any NFL team has.
