I'm not sure I like being ranked a rookie again... Apparently I need 14 more points to reach the next level, whatever that may be. Help a guy out and LIKE this post (and my others please)!6 points

I'm very happy to have found this place, and thank you MWG for 20 years of providing this type of resource with your own time and money.3 points

They were just playing the Beverly Hills Cop theme song during that last mound visit.2 points

I have long been a George Will fan - but he will pry my "purse pants" from my cold, dead legs.2 points

first Campbell complaint. Held that first TO too long.2 points

I haven't seen him play personally, but the reports from those who have day that he's a natural SS and should stick there in spite of his size. I don't know if he's the answer at SS, but I think it'd be a mistake to not increase the team's talent via FA, with or without Kreidler. In the unlikely event that we end up with 2 good SSs, I'm sure we'd be able to figure it out.2 points

As long as he doesn't hit the streets of Detroit in a car, he'll be okay.1 point

LaRussa "strolling" out to the mound for a pitching change like he's been hitting the division clinching champagne since early this morning.1 point

Morse is rather old now - the storytelling is pretty darned good but some of the production is rather dated now. I like it but I remember it coming out and lived pretty close to Oxford for a time. And drank the same beer... We just got the most recent three episodes of Endeavour (same character; prequel - in case you weren't aware). Obvs the production values are much more up to scratch. Not watched them yet, but I imagine they'll be good. Lewis was in the same canon and came after Morse - also worth a look I'd say.1 point

I wear my old big-flappy-pocket cargo shorts on long bike rides because it doesn’t matter whether I sweat in them, but I do still wear more dialed-back smaller-pocketed cargo shorts out in public. I’m at the age where I’m not really concerned with subtle fashion faux pas.1 point

Hey Bert, I,m here. (Until I have to clock back in for work, grumble, grumble).1 point

Not sure if they’re on Britbox, but you might want to check out Inspector Morse. Morse is based on a series of detective novels by Colin Dexter. I know Endeavour made it to PBS for a few seasons and may still be on Passport.1 point

It's a very good possibility a college sports forum will be added to this message board in the near future. When I built this MB out earlier this year, I focused more on the 4 pro teams from Detroit to accompany the new sports websites I created (MotownTigers, MotownLions, etc.).1 point

to review the in house options: Niki Groodrum: good arm, mediocre hands, plays back on balls too much to key many DPs. Has power but bat has become black hole, esp from left side. Under control until 2024, Also has options left but only for next season as he would be a 5 yr vet at the end of 22. Isaac Paredes: Can play SS, decent arm, but probably doesn't have the range to be any kind of good there. Hitting as a major leaguer is still total unknown but skepticism is high in many quarters despite his progress in raising his AAA OPS. Zach Short: pretty uniform opinion that he is an above average defender. Close to zero chance he can hit enough to be viable. Ryan Kreilder: Toledo staff say his glove is ML quality. He is currently hitting well beyond expectations for his projections. Can he do it at ML? Again - skepticism remains high but he is doing his best to go out and refute it. Willi Castro: No, No, and No. Unreliable arm, slow pivot, low baseball IQ and general situational awareness. And a bat that flashed in the short season but has also now disappeared-- though at least in his case he is young enough that he could find it again, as opposed to Niko who looks like he is just already on the downside of his career as a hitter. I won't say there is NO hope for Willi, but he needs a lot of work *in the minors* to figure out how to play competent ML middle IF. Harold Castro: Harold is a nice utility level guy, which is where he needs to stay. Bottom line is that I would rate the chances as still being greater than even money that none of those guys pan out so I'm good with pursuing a FA. You can always find a place for a bat if one of the other guys forces himself into playing time.1 point

Is there a way to hide that forum? IE, many moons ago I had bookmarked the "unread posts" link which included an extra thing-a-ma-jig which made all the threads in the political forum hidden from view.1 point

So McCosky with a piece about W. Castro to the effect that despite the season being a total waste with the bat, the saving grace is that he's working really hard with the coaches to to get to a point where he is almost an average fielding 2b. What? We don't coach IF anywhere in the system other than the ML club? I still can't figure why we are still looking at him and Niko flail at the plate (598 and 588 2nd half OPS respectively) instead of letting Kreidler get his feet wet and be in a better position to compete next ST.1 point
