  1. When the Mercury astronauts had their first press conference they were asked about the tests they undertook. John Glenn said it consisted of finding every orifice in the body and figuring out how big and how far things could go into them.

  3. Its a damn shame O'Neill wasn't inducted when alive. That'd have been a wonderful speech. The man was a fantastic orator. He could probably hold the room mesmerized by just reading a label on a can of soup.

  6. Who gives a shit? Even if it's their fault, forget playing this blame game. I'm sick of this F'ing blame game. Look in the mirror first, at how ignorant a significant portion of America is acting... and fix our own damn selves before throwing blame around. If it started in Canada, or England, or the U.S., or Japan, or Israel, or any other country... MUST we scream and cry and shout out "THEY are to blame"? Asinine. Just deal with pandemics as they come along, responsibly, and make them go away.

  7. Aaron Rodgers claims he’s a victim of “the woke mob” and “cancel culture” So instead of defending your bunk science you instead hide your vaccination status then turn to “cancel culture” when caught in your lie.

  11. The death and destruction caused by the virus is not the fault of the Chinese. A pandemic like this one could have started anywhere. The speculation that they somehow accidentally engineered this remains exactly that - speculation. I would think we in the US would at some point learn the lesson to stop blaming other countries without actual proof for things it turns out they aren't doing (Gulf of Tonkin, WMD anyone?). Other than early regional leadership denial of what was going on ( sort of like Tx or Fla when faced with a public health issues? ) the Chinese government has not been doing anything to make things worse anywhere else in the world and it would be pointless to carry on on the international stage politically like they were. Does anyone seriously think that if a bug got started in the US we would have acted efficiently enough to prevent it getting over the borders? The country where people are so public-health disciplined they won't even get vaccinated?

  13. I don't think it will stop there either, but I think SS and starter are the only places where they might spend big money. I think anything else will be the usual off-season bargain shopping.

  14. It's always a good idea to acquire some cheap arms and see what your staff can do with them. It's rarely a good idea to spend a lot of money on relievers. Looking at the bullpens around the league and there are a lot of failed starters and other cheap acquisitions which became key bullpen pieces.

  15. As Avila said last month, the Tigers will be acquiring a catcher (done), shortstop and starting pitcher. No outfielder or relief pitchers. Avila always does what he says he's going to do whether we like it or not. https://www.mlive.com/tigers/2021/11/4-free-agents-the-tigers-should-call-right-now.html

  16. Box score doesn’t really tell the tale. Cade was solid despite the shooting. His shot looks good and most of those were near misses rather than bricks. When he gets his legs I think the shot will be fine. He rebounded well, played PG most of his minutes (a lot of Hayes off-ball), got good looks at the rim, drew a lot of fouls, and hit his free throws. Hayes continuing to look better as well. All he has to do is knock down that three like he did tonight and continue to play defense and he’ll be fine. No idea what’s up with Bey. Looked good to start the season but he’s really fallen off. Looks like he’s struggling to find his role in the offense since Cade started playing and the play calling isn’t getting him set up for open threes either. So, he’s getting lots of weird post ups without first creating a screen to get a mismatch. Joseph is still hot garbage. Just play Lee, at least we can hope he develops. if you watch nothing else from this game, go find Stewart’s dunk. He absolutely killed Joel on a crossover and double clutch dunked it at the rim. Highlight play of the season so far.

  17. Yep.....this organization ushered a bunch of talent out the door, tanked for four years, and now we are supposed to hope that the three about-ready-to-go stars that we have as a result of all of the mega-losing will be the driving force behind a cheap winning team in a couple of years, maybe in 2022. We could have had a winning team over the last 5 years, with a reasonable salary structure. A total lack of imagination and competence in our ownership and GM/FO caused the last 5 years of losing.

  18. Not sure if he is going to sign an extension but if not John Gray of the Rockies is somebody Id be interested in. Power stuff, good k rate and better peripherals than ERA would show. Could be a high upside guy.

  19. I give Mel Tucker a lot of credit for what he's done at MSU, but he would be a smart man to jump ship ASAP, likely this offseason. He built that program through the COVID induced transfer portal, which is not a knock at all, it is rather genius. It's also not a sustainable model for success. If he wants to still be the "#3" team in the country in 3-5 years, he's going to have to either out-recruit Michigan (hasn't been done since Rich Rod) and Ohio State (hasn't been done in decades), or pull a Dantonio in his prime and coach 3* athletes to outperform 4-5* athletes at Michigan and Ohio State (preferably without being a douche who leaves the program in shambles). More money (which he obviously cares about) and a better recipe for success exists at LSU, Texas Tech, Washington State, and perhaps even Nebraska and TCU if they move on from their head coaches. I'm sure he would take the job at U$C too if offered, but that's just a dumpster fire.

  29. It could have but it didn't. Covid was originated in China and then the cover up began. It was first said it was because of a bat in a market but then it was revealed it came from a laboratory. It possible the WHO even helped them in covering their tracks. There needs to be a thorough investigation on how all this happened and who was responsible.

  30. someone in my family that would be considered high risk in many ways, and lives in a house full of other people who are considered high risk, just tested positive. Of course, almost the whole house is unvaxxed, don't trust the government obviously. This fam once tried to tell me about Qanon as if I hadn't heard of it before. What I hadn't heard was how Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington deaths were involved in Qanon.
