  1. Election security is not voter suppresion. Nobody is being told they can't vote and polls are open longer. Its funny the democrats talk about wanting to save democracy but nothing will destroy it faster than elections with no integrity. Democrats want 100% mail in ballots, with no controls in place to know who voted or how many times they voted. They managed to get the worst two candidates to the WH elected by that system so they want to continue it. The democrats say election laws are racist because people of color don't have ID, can't afford ID or don't know how to get an ID. What's bad is democrats actually think so little of people of color.

  2. the idea that black people are treated more harshly in the justice system is borne out by the numbers. the idea that they are ALWAYS treated more harshly is not true.

  3. Regardless of how many relatives he has in Wisconsin, he didn’t belong on a street in a city his mother had to drive him an hour to get to brandishing a semiautomatic weapon and being an obvious menace to people. He went there looking to make trouble. Simple as it gets.

  6. PS: If our medical system can bankrupt you, or is simply not available to a large portion of our country's citizenry... It ain't the best medical system in the world. No matter how good the actual medicine is.

  8. I hate to break it to you but there isn't some unicorn Head Coach out there that is going to come to UM and make them compete against OSU. Harbaugh has done about the best a Michigan run program can do recruiting but he still hasn't come close to getting the amount of talent OSU has. The past 7 years OSU has gotten 40 5* recruits to Michigan's 8(still 6th most in the country so not bad), seriously with that type of talent disparity you could have Bill Belicheck out there and you'll be hard pressed to win. Sure OSU isn't invincible so Michigan should beat once in a while but if you expect them to beat them anymore than say once every 5 years you're going to be disappointed no matter the coach, atleast as things stand now. If suddenly things change with recruits and teams like OSU, Bama and Georgia stop getting all the 5 star players then maybe things will be different but until then we're going to keep losing to OSU regularly no matter the coach.

  10. LOL! 28 or 35, I just want a big enough blow out that it gets Harbaugh out of here.

  11. Correa is better than Baez...when he is on the field. Which isn't often enough. However, he isn't twice as good as Baez, but he will get more than twice as much money. I would rather spend the Correa money on Baez and more pitching.

  12. Ehh. I get that he has family in Kenosha which changes things, but I really don't buy the "Antioch being part of the Kenosha community" line. I just don't. I lived a few months in a town adjacent to Antioch and, iirc, generally people tended to congregate more in Gurnee, Crystal Lake or McHenry. Again, not saying there weren't family reasons for his connections to Kenosha, but I just don't buy that particular line.

  13. Its getting really tiring. There are actual R politicians who worry me on this front, especially the ones where I live. Glenn Youngkin? Unless he wants to tank his party's chances in future elections in a state that Biden won by 11, he's gonna govern more like a Chris Sununu. It's still Virginia after all

  14. Actually, the kid’s own story was that his friend (or was it his cousin?)Bought the gun - Kyle gave him the money for it … but the friend was keeping it at his house until he turned 18 the next year. I can smell the bullshit in that story from here in Jersey.

  16. I would agree with you there. I would also like to know how much tailgating you have done already today if you are seriously thinking Baez is going to get $250M this offseason. Please do not operate any heavy machinery for a while.

  19. It’s not a threat to legally carry a gun in Kenosha. Also, why doesn’t he belong there? To me, it’s stupid. I wouldn’t let my 17 year old do what Rittenhouse did. But guilty of being stupid is not a crime.

  20. After five years of following American politics way too closely, it's hard not to consider how many anonymous leaks are done with an agenda. I have no reason to believe the same isn't true in baseball as well. Doesn't mean Correa is gonna sign here, but it could just be gamesmanship in an open and ongoing negotiation. We just don't know.

  21. only if you accept a very narrow set of criteria for 'best'. From a technology standpoint it is, but if it can't deliver the best public health or life expectancy (which it doesn't) that criteria is too narrow to have social value. Or say our medical science is the best in the world, which is the narrower but more accurate formulation.

  22. Maybe seems a little less likely versus yesterday, but on the other hand, it doesn't advantage the Tigers for everyone to think they they are desperate to sign Correa. Basically suggesting that this leak could be selective and in furtherance of interest in Correa

  26. I think Niko sealed his fate with the Tiger org when he declined to make a serious attempt to change his LH approach. When your team comes to you and says "you need to do better at 'X' " and you opine in the press that you think you are just fine at doing 'X', (and despite a terrible OPS at doing 'X' ) you probably haven't done the optimum thing to enhance your career prospects.

  27. yeah - This wouldn't be the 1st time that transient public outrage led to an overcharge which led to an acquittal. You might think "Reckless Endangerment" or the like would have punished him for his stupidity without denying his right to defend his life. Some charge that would have been successful would at least have served the socially useful end of discouraging people from taking weapons into places were neither they nor the weapons were helpful.

  29. as you said, the democrats will lose seats because the party in power ALWAYS loses seats. no matter what. if the economy is still doing well and inflation is under control, the democrats will lose less seats. but something will go wrong between now and then - it always does - and the party in power will be blamed regardless of fault. lots of time between now and november 2022.
