I just dropped by tonight to say that MTG is an absoulte piece of trash that represents everything that is wrong with America. When did Republicans ever give a crap about mental health or substance abuse treatment? They are the ones that keep making cuts5 points

Tomorrow at 5:30. I just wish he'd gone in his sleep. The last dog had a stroke, it was an on the spot decision. The dog before that got hit by a car. He still looks at me and tries to look comfortable even though he's in pain. At least he's still eating. He'll get a steak for dinner tonight.2 points

Considering where he was at the beginning of the year, Parker Meadows would qualify as a bright spot IMO. Not necessarily an all inclusive list, and others MMV, but here's a few I'd say qualify. Upper Minors: Wenceel, Carpenter, Meadows, Lipcius, Hill (as we saw yesterday), Flores, Olson, Bergner Lower Minors: Ty Madden, Brant Hurter, Colt Keith (when he wasn't injured), Josh Crouch, Izaac Pacheco, Manuel Sequera (good power #'s, needs to make more consistent contact), Garrett Burhenn The big question I have is with the some of the position players who have broken out (ie. Carpenter) or have seen their stock rebound (ie. Wenceel, Lipcius, Meadows) is whether they can go beyond the expectation of being slotted as utility/depth guys at the big league level. Or in the case of Carpenter the perception of being a AAAA guy. Skeptical, but who knows.2 points

I just noticed I typed Crawford instead of Howard. Oops. I could see Avila DFAing either though.1 point

....and as much as I want Avila gone, and as lopsidedly bad as the Paredes/Meadows trade has been to-date, it's ridiculous to me to suggest that anyone guessed or knew how this would shake out. All of the preseason projection services had Paredes pegged for mediocre power (415 - 425 SLG and mid-100's ISO), not a 600 SLG and 25% HR/FB ratio. He hasn't changed his launch angle or his FB approach as a hitter, so it's not obvious yet that Tampa's people unlocked something in his swing, though that's possible. Maybe just maybe he's having a really hot stretch. And c'mon, nobody could have predicted that Meadows would suffer the plagues of Job. If someone can explain to me how Meadows various health problems are tied together and/or could have been predicted, that's one thing, but what has happened to him is just really, really bad luck. I'll make a deal -- I'll agree that Avila should have known that this trade would not work out, if somehow that claim gets Avila fired -- otherwise I'm sticking to my guns on this.1 point

I saw Sam Howard pitch for the Low A Asheville Tourists (Colorado Rockies) several years ago. He pitched a really good game in Asheville that day. I shook the young man’s hand after the game and commended him on his effort. Hope he lands a spot somewhere.1 point

Does that dumb yutz MTG realize that all states in the bottom 10 for access to mental health are Republican states and 9 of 10 states with the best access are Democratic states? Does she realize that free Republican states have expanded Medicaid and the one red state that did, Oklahoma, ranks in the top 10 for mental health mcare access?1 point

The comments are a thing to behold, talking about 2A rights and all, when his point is as much about the regulation of firearms in this country. There's a class of people (including those with robes) who, apparently, read 2A and think that regulations are a violation. Nevermind the fact that the word "regulated" is IN the amendment, all regulations bad.1 point

I’m so sorry. I’m hoping your experience with the vet home euthanasia will be as comforting as mine was. Don’t get me wrong… it’s still devastating, but knowing your dog will be in his home with you, and that the vet will do all they need to in order to calm your pal, and make his last moments peaceful… it helps.1 point

Players who are fighting or struggling to stay in the majors are not going to volunteer that anything hurts. They’re gonna play through it and hope it works out all right.1 point

we don't know exactly when it developed, so maybe he didn't have much of a chance to complain. plus, every young player wants to play through "minor" pain. probably went something like this when AJ got out there: Faedo: it's nothing AJ: it's messing up your delivery Faedo: it's nothing. throws a couple pitches AJ: it's messing up your delivery. you're coming out.1 point

And the announcers they hired suck. It's bad all around. Bring back Rod & Mario. Put a plastic divider between them. I don't care if they don't like each other, they were much better than the bland guy and the rah-rah guy. Craig Monore is intolerable. You really can't find anyone better than this?1 point

Shop all of the relievers, even the young ones. I am not saying trade them all, but do not hesitate to trade any reliever who brings a good return.1 point

Always a great question, and since G2 brought me up I will take a stab at this. I bolded the part I want to address. In a word; no. At least not at the beginning. If they put forth that kind of work over a period of time that could change. First, we must quality how they go about beating the market. Are they like most people and control their 401k account (or whatever) through their work? Or do they have a live trading account and maybe on margin (betting money you don't have in your account). Margin accounts can make you filthy rich in a short period of time, but the inverse is also in play. Margin accounts use option contracts to lever up money, while at the same time protect against the downside. Shit goes south and someone is going to get ripped, and it won't be Wall Street. But let me give an example. I'm retired so I have nothing to hide and don't much give one good shit about too many things at this point anyway. I don't remember the exact year (when this happened), but 2015-2016 maybe. I worked for WHR. We had Vanguard as our retirement caretaker. We could change our plan every three months. I put in what they matched, and every 3 months we could change what they did with our account. They would stick all the three month money in WHR stock. At the time the stock was going up, and the people I worked with were buying the snot out of it, and of course I was making money too, but I knew it was an illusion. In February of that year the stock price hit $204 after an earning report (listen to them, so cool and informative) and a month later hit $211. The people were buying the shit out of it, while I was selling the shit out of it. Why? Because the top 10 execs, who must disclose buys/sells were also selling the shit out of it. In July it was $145. Until you really have a grasp on how things really work your going to get you ass handed to you. We are now finding out how bad the Robinhood people and other scams have raped people. Image that! They have no fucking clue what they are doing, and more importantly, what they are dealing with. Read about fiduciary duty. They probably took it out of the dictionary. To the technical side of trading; charts are history, they show what happened, and a really clever way of doing so. Great read on how it became popular, Japan was a large contributor. It's about how to "look around the corner." Trades are easy when you know what's going to happen, but we don't. Great effort has been spent trying to figure out an "edge." TA is an offspring. They serve as indicators, entry/exit points, and very worthwhile. And why not, Wall Street uses it (the algos (HAL 9000)), so do all the traders. Examples above posted of charts. TA is a tool, not a get rich scheme, but a worthy tool just the same.1 point

this is what happens when you let the inmates run the asylum. players' feelings are fickle. you need to run a solid franchise and draft and develop good players and good people, not turn your team over to mercenaries like kyrie, kd, and harden. fuck the nets. this is hilarious to watch.1 point

They really have treated KD poorly. Gave him $40M to rehab his injury the first year. Let him hand pick the coach he wanted. Let him hand pick his teammates in Irving and Harden. Gutting the future of the franchise to do it. Gave him a massive extension, that ironically has not kicked in yet. The Weirdness of Kevin Durant Wanting Out1 point

Pistons schedule July 7 - 11:59PM against Portland July 9 - 6:00PM against Washington July 12 - 9:00PM against Indiana July 14 - 5:30PM against Cleveland I think this is a tournament style league. So there is a possibility of more games.1 point

I’m glad it wasn’t the Pistons’ turn to draft at the top when he entered the draft.1 point

Re slavery, I learned something today during a presentation at Colonial Williamsburg. I only caught part of the story as we were just resting under the giant oak for a bit. Anyway, during the pre Revolutionary times slaves could buy their freedom if they could afford to. They still needed permission from the Colonial Governor and pay a "Freedom Tax". The tax was good for 6 years and the rate increased incrementally every time. If they couldn't afford the tax, back into bondage. Interesting that part of history never came up when we were taught in high school 50 years ago. I doubt that it comes up today.1 point

All the 4th of July really means to me now is that it's a day off work. I'm not celebrating this country. It's not worth the effort anymore. We throw away or burn crops while people starve. We take rights away from women and minorities and gay people. Black people are targeted by cops and die over stupid shit like a counterfeit 20 or a air freshener hanging from their mirror. Just a lot of lies and propaganda. Ireland is considered one of the safest countries in the world from violent and non-violent crimes. 50 years ago that was not the case at all. It's when they stopped listening to the lunatic fringe - and stopped with the phony patriotism crap - they turned it around. I wish I could move there.0 points

Guys, I had flashbacks to 2007/Brian/VT today. I will preface this by saying my family is okay. But there was a short period there when I didn't know and I had such shitty cell service. On the family group text, my brother sends a pic of my nephew at a parade. My brother lives in greater Chicago. An hour later a friend at the party I was at said "Shooting at an Illinois parade." I didn't have the service to find out which parade or hear back from my brother. It ended up being a different parade. This needs to stop, now.0 points

Just called the home euthanasia vet and left a message and i could hardly get the phone number out. It's gonna probably be tomorrow or Wednesday. He can hardly walk. I can't let him continue like this. I should have done this earlier. I am kind of mad at myself for letting it get this bad. It hasn't been a good day.0 points
