  1. you definitely don't have to do it for pfife, but it might be a good idea to do it for the future of your country's status as a democratic republic..... .....just sayin'.

  2. In the case of the Uvalde shooter, iirc, the shooter clearly waited until it was legal for him to obtain the rifle in order to obtain the rifle and bring it to the school. I don't think it's "all kinds of stupid" to think that barriers to entry can in fact be barriers to entry, but that's just me.

  4. since the cubs won weve had a reality tv star become president, a world wide pandemic shut down the globe, and a war with russia. think of the destruction if the DETROIT LIONS won a super bowl? im not sure the universe is ready for that.

  6. Thats funny. The guy who supports freedom, safe and fair elections, the Constitution, law and order, national security, etc, etc is called an embarrasment. At least I'm not on here calling people names that don't agree with me.

  13. Why bail them out of a bad situation for two years of Soto? Just sign him as a free agent.

  14. Maybe that's right, idk. Not Soto's biggest fan, especially having watched enough of him over the years, but I do suspect there are some baseball execs outside of the Tigers org who have a higher view of Soto's skill set than knowledgeable Tiger fans do.

  15. At most academic institutions the football coach is likely as not going to be an intellectual embarrassment. You can only hope he doesn't do exactly what Harbaugh often does in making his lower candle power ruminations (Chicken for dinner anyone?) a focal point for the University's public image.

  20. If Soto pitched for another team, and the Tigers traded a top prospect for him, I'd be posting here about how stupid it was and how it was a classic Tigers mistake. We have multiple pitchers we got for nothing off the scrap heap who have performed similarly. Obviously, I hope other teams disagree with me

  21. Yeah, he's not going anywhere, he is playing next year for his curtain call. I don't mind at all, he is one of the few interesting people on the team.

  22. Those conversations did exist in those states prior to the recent Christian taliban Supreme Court ruling. The ruling made those conversations outdated and illegal. Pro life politicians have no interest in having them and neither do their voters.

  23. A guy on a movie group I am a part of compared BCS and BB to godfather I and II. “Breaking Bad is like The Godfather and Better Call Saul is like The Godfather Part 2. The original is more universal, more digestible. Can attract a bigger audience with more mass appeal. The sequel is deeper, darker, and somehow better than the original. All this to say, what a remarkable accomplishment Better Call Saul is.”

  25. It’s gotten to the ultimate low point where I’d rather sit in the den and talk to my wife about her day than watch the Tigers in the other room.

  26. It will never happen, but I think in the end, sex is genetics and gender is ultimately genes intersecting with social construct. If we understood it that way, most of this kind of dilemma goes away. You compete in the physical class your musculoskeletal-skeletal genes put you in, you live however you want gender wise or your brain happens to be wired by the genes that drive that. this requires a recognition that sex and gender are not necessarily coincident. I don’t think this is a widely held view, but I think it is reality.

  27. Believe it or not, we are in the middle of what could end up being the worst six-year stretch in the previously-storied history of the Detroit Tigers. In the six seasons 2017 to 2022, so far, the overall record is 312-560, for a four-digit winning percentage of .3578. That is worse than even the 1998-2003 stretch, when the Tigers' record was 377-676, coming in at .3580. And unless I'm mistaken, 2022 was supposed to be in the middle of our window to contend after six years of tanking for draft picks and selling All-Stars for prospects. A team is not supposed to be challenging the 100-loss mark in Year Six of a rebuild. This organization is doing exactly that. I believe both this version of ownership and this front office are simply incompetent, and as long as both remain in place as currently constructed, I have no reasonable hope for this franchise. I'll still root for the team because I'm a native and it's still my birthright, and I will savor whatever victories they achieve along the way. But I will expect nothing but losing until changes are made at the top.

  28. I think I've posted this before on the old board, but Manfred has a bit of Frank Burns from MASH in him. I'll bet he got hazed big time in college.

  29. I know the Lions were burned by going all in on guys from a smart and successful team but despite that I definitely like the idea of going after somebody from the Dodgers, Cardinals or Braves type organization. Yeah in the Dodgers case it helps to have the resources they have but money can't be the only reason they churn out and develop prospects hand over fist.
