  1. That was a major league hanging breaking ball by a AAA pitcher.

  9. Fun fact, because of the error that Law himself committed, all four of the runs he gave up are unearned. His ERA? 0.00. Can't make it up!

  14. Gonna give AJ the benefit of the doubt on pulling Hutch given that he'd be facing the lineup for the third time. But almost seems like they needed more of a leverage guy to face the top of the order, even if its the 6th

  19. Nope, I'm fine with the Raptors but hate the Leafs and the Jays. Lived in a U of T dorm during the 1987 pennant race - it was glorious.

  20. Very true. On the flip side, letting Al Avila and this scouting staff make the decision on which prospects to select isn’t an optimistic strategy either.

  24. Geddy Lee of Rush is wearing Detroit Tiger sneakers on one of the earliest Rush albums. He went totally in for the Jays after 1977. Imagine the fanbase the Tigers could still have with Half of the Toronto market.

  26. OTOH, how likely was it that a guy whose timing and pitch selection is messed up was going to unwind it instantly just by decreasing his latitude by one degree? You can look at it as two competing ideas about his problem. If he hadn't gotten into bad habits, if he was doing everything the same as he was before he was called up, then sure - he'd go to Toledo and instantly be back to where he was, but the implication of that would be that he simply couldn't hit MLB pitching doing the things that had gotten him to the big leagues. I don't think that is a conclusion I'd like to see verified. OTOH, if he was a player who had gotten out of sync with himself, who had things he had to fix to get back to better, you might expect him to have work through that over some time even once the pressure of facing the best pitching was reduced. I'm here all week. Try the veal.

  28. 25th anniversary of the release of this song. I don't care what anyone says, I always though it was a great pop song. Insightful lyrics too considering that they were ages 11-16 at the time. You have so many relationships in this life Only one or two will last You're going through all the pain and strife Then you turn your back and they're gone so fast Oh yeah And they're gone so fast, yeah, yeah, oh So hold on the ones who really care In the end they'll be the only ones there And when you get old and start losing your hair Can you tell me who will still care? Can you tell me who will still care? oh oh Okay, yeah [Chorus] Mmm bop, ba duba dop Ba du bop, ba duba dop

  35. Yes I think your right and you are way more skilled at talent evaluation than me but when evaluating the trade of Paredes + good draft pick for Meadows you have to keep in mind the return/value for dollar/salary spent. That is the Tampa way and why it is different than many teams especially Detroit. The money saved can be put to use for another asset. Maybe parades was just a two week flash but I don't think so and time will tell, I do know his 1.5 war tops all Tigers. Personally I think Al Aviia and Chris Illitch cornered themselves with the "rebuild is over statement" and when Riley broke his foot Tampa took advantage to get a promising young player that fit their evaluation profile + a pretty high draft pick AND unload an expensive declining player to pad their budget. My guess is they spend that $$ at this years deadline. Look I hope Meadows comes back next year and hits the 25 to 30 homers required to justify his salary and poor defense but I think we are stuck with "Robbie Grossman plus" for what 6 mil in 2023 and if the Tigers think he will fix the middle of our order we will be back in the same soup we are in now. Al sure will want to justify his trade like he did overplaying Demerite, Lugo, Willie Castro etc.

  36. and there it is..... at the local wendy's drive through, which now has 2 speakers for ordering.... I'm in the inside lane, lady on the outside lane accuses me of cutting her off b/c I had the audacity to take my turn in the zipper merge. Is it actually the case that people on the outside lane get to determine when people on the inside lane get their turn to merge back in? F bombs may have been exchanged..... cc: @Shelton @Biff Mayhem to laugh at me

  37. Just kind of eyeballing his age vs AAA and AA competition, Paredes is around 4-6 years younger. I would say if Avila acquired this resume off of the scrap heap, we would be pretty happy with it. I can understand the desire to keep a plyare like this. But I think you rewind to when the trade was made, and thinking about having a pair of rookies playing everyday, Cabrera's bat in decline, questionable offense at best behind the plate, streaky bats up the middle infield,.... I understand why Avila was looking for another bat for the lineup. I can understand why he thought Paredes was expendable. Its baseball. Sometimes things don't work out as expected. Avila is at fault for many things. I don't think that this is one of those.

  38. Despite us beating them in 68 and losing to them in 06 I never really had an ill feelings towards the Cardinals, in fact I always respected them as an organization, I don't openly root for them or anything but I don't root against them either.
