I don’t think the “ownership team” (Sheila/Rod Wood/Speilman) even plans to substantially begin evaluating Holmes and Campbell until following the 2023 season. Of course there are exceptions out there (a PR disaster, a grossly inadequate season) but in-game decisions are one thing to be evaluated at a point in time you can substantially review a body of work with a fair amount of talent, not knee-jerk in the week after questionable decisions were made. That’s not to say they don’t talk and review seasons. And it wouldn’t surprise me, particularly if in-game mismanagement “costs us a game” again this year, if it’s addressed by ownership with Campbell heading into 2023. I think there is a lot of faith in this regime though, and for good reason.2 points

I just think that it's an incredibly entitled viewpoint to assume that people can just abandon their careers and up and move on a whim.... and divorced from the reality that most people live with.2 points

If Sosa/McGwire/Bonds don't count, neither do the 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, or 2009 Yankees.2 points

I'm glad to see that Javy can still be Good Javy from time to time. maybe he can get his shit together a little earlier next season.1 point

No betting for me this week. I lost taking the Lions and the moneyline last week. I played a $100 on blackjack, won most of my money back, then decided to put it on Tom Brady and Tampa Bay mid-game to come back and beat Rogders and the Pack. Had they come back midgame and won I would have gotten a $1,200 payout. I'm staying off the sportsbooks this week.1 point

I'm sorry. Did you miss that Snowden committed espionage by providing the Russians with sources and methods?1 point

I feel like Seider really spoiled Wings fans regarding other defense prospects. Edvinsson looks to me like a kid who is still processing the NHL speed and with the smaller ice surface. He's trying to make the Wings a year younger than Seider did. Did he make mistakes? Definitely. But he also showed really nice instincts in his own zone at times and has the toolbox to make the plays. I was loving what I was seeing even if it wasn't perfect. Some time in the AHL should do him wonders but I feel like expectations are way too high or people are being way too harsh on him.1 point

Seems fair. As long as I can still put it on my marketing line and write it off as a business expense.1 point

This is all probably correct and it probably is the path of least resistance to bring him along for at least the first couple of months of next year. In general when this conversation comes up though, it seems like some downplay the impact of him holding down a roster spot; that's one less 26 man spot for someone who could be acquired through free agency, trade, or from the minor leagues, and subsequently one less 40 man spot for someone who could be added as well. Granted, as Ed has suggested in the past, concerns about the 40 man can be overblown as there is chaff that can be removed, but if you are an incoming GM who wants to improve the roster via trade or free agency and / or evaluate the talent that this org currently possess (which he no doubted has been charged with doing), that roster spot being off the table is not at all ideal. And it's easy for us as fans to look at 2023 as a write off, but Harris did not give that impression at his presser nor in his work with the Giants; he sounds like a man who wants to improve the roster as it is currently built and put the best possible product out on the field. I love Miggy, but he's an impediment to that for better or worse.1 point

The Cubs did a full tear down and tank job when he was there but the Giants never did despite finishing neck and neck with us for worst record back in 2017. I remember actually being surprised that they made some win now moves in the following years which went against the grain of how most other orgs were operating but it paid off for them last year. It sounds like he is more apt to take the Giants mindset with us vs. the Cubs.1 point

Most of his schtick is tough guy talk with whining mixed in when he gets called out. It's so pathetic.1 point

the game makes me sad that we lost, but i also think we're overreatcing just a bit. we lost a close game on the road where we were a td underdog. the vikings are not a bad team and the lions hung with them and should have won. and it wasnt a game they were behind all day and made a late push to make it close either, they were the better team for much of the day. that's progress. otoh, it should the warts on the team. they still dont have a significant pass rush other than bringing blitzes. the linebackers are still poor. they struggled to stop the run at times. they lost yet another important player to a season ending injury. the team is still young and growing. there are lots of teams that lost heartbreakers the last couple weeks, not just the lions. next week is pretty important.1 point

Fun fact. Procida played in Lega Basket Serie A and was the third youngest player in league history to score 24 points in a game. The first two? Luigi Datome and Carlos Delfino, both former Pistons. Procida signed with Alba Berlin this summer and will play in Germanys top league, Basketball Bundesliga. That is the league Killian played in while in Germany. One major difference, Procida's team will also play in Euroleague, something Killian never did. We will get a better idea on him after he plays in Euroleague since most consider that the best league in the world after the NBA. DBB did a nice write up on him after the draft. NBA Draft: Gabriele Procida is a “draft and stash” pick worth monitoring1 point

I know I'm about the only one that is somewhat sympathetic to Snowden on this site, but this is a horrible reasoning. Because most people could reasonably speculate that the government does something it shouldn't, it's alright?0 points
