Remember, Pleasant was just the scapegoat.2 points

As when he was with us, Tavai still does his best work on ST. He’s been able to play more at LB than he did with the Lions but it’s the teams play that keeps him in the league. He’d have been back in Hawaii years ago without it.1 point

Me neither, but I want them replaced with actual major league players who have an OBP over .320. I don't think that's asking too much, do yoU?1 point

With Candy signing so quickly, and who he signed with, tells me a lot about what he was thinking. If he really thought his market value was $7 million, he would have waited out the market longer. By signing a week after he hit the market, that tells me that he thought $5 million + was the most he was going to get, and he should take it. He didn't take less money to go to a contender, we went to the worst team in baseball l ast year. 11 games worse than the Tigers, and I don't think anyone is saying Washington is going to contend this year. The Nationals for their part are hoping he can rebound and nab something nice at the trade deadline. I'm sure Candy knows that is the Nationals plan. And he is hoping to get enough playing time to show he still has it and someone else will want him. The Tigers are ahead of Washington as far as contending sooner, and have made massive changes this off season to head in the right direction. All of this leads me to a couple of thoughts: 1) it was all about the money and when Detroit offered less, he just wasnt going to take it. 2) it wasn't about the best chance to win, it was all about getting out of Detroit. I think Detroit did the right thing.1 point

I prefer to look back at 2021 for Candelario. When he was good.1 point

Man, Eflin was a guy I thought was worth targeting. Very underrated.1 point

Not messed up. Not as long as inflation is an issue: Strong jobs report = persistent inflation = potential for more interest rate hikes = stock market down. If inflation were not an issue, then: Strong jobs report = strong economy/ more spending/ more profits = stock market up. It's almost like an algebraic or algorithmic statement.1 point

I continue to maintain that if we're talking only about Jeimer's projected performance, absent any other market consideration, that is well worth the $7 million. That said, I will shelve this hobby horse if Harris obtains a third baseman who is projected to do better than Jeimer, and I don't care at what price. I'm interested only in the production.1 point

Yeah I gotcha.... And even if I had hard proof in my hands and put it right in front of the face of a certain few people they'd still say "I don't believe it... I only believe in my own narrative and your hard evidence doesn't fit my narrative so...".1 point

I don't believe that's necessarily true as stated. I don't think that they believe his value is objectively less than seven million. I would counter that, if they believe he is better than a one-win player, then they know that level of production is worth seven million, at least. But we also know that markets are about more than simply an objective measure of worth—it's also about the perception of the asset as a whole, and the perception of Jeimer is that he is damaged goods, in part because of last year's anomalous output, one who will accept less than what his expected production is objectively worth. It's why he's regarded as a buy-low bet with high upside potential, versus someone playing out a string who's got maybe one year of 140+ games left in him.1 point

Patriots already lost. Packers are 4-8. This weekend is already good for me.1 point

I don't know about turning a corner yet but he's had more good games than bad the last few weeks and is playing with a lot of confidence so I don't think it's far fetched to think that the lightbulb might finally be going on. He'll more than likely never live up to his draft position but he could very well carve out a career as a key bench player if he keeps this up.1 point

I see your point but I think he signed for $5 million with the Nationals. If the Tigers sign a FA 3rd baseman, he'll probably cost more with less production or bad defense. Or just put Zach Short at 3rd base, I'm sure he could outhit....nobody? Maybe they'll lower ticket prices since they're saving so much money?1 point

The sequence where Livers separated his shoulder in a non foul, was clearly in pain and one armed, still dropped a 3 in front of the Pistons' bench, then tried to play defense one armed and wincing, and then the Pistons took another possession and still refused to call a time out to get him out of the game....... What the hell was that?1 point

Now that I think about it, Tennessee would be in no matter what and it would come down to a choice of USC or Washington in the Cotton. I think they would take Caleb and USC.1 point

The most realistic scenario is we get destroyed by injuries next year and are bottom feeders all year, we take solace in knowing that atleast Caleb Williams is at the end of the tunnel but in week 18 with all the number 1 pick marbles on the line with the Packers we win that game because of we for once in our life were the "benefactors" of some obscure call. Then of course the Packers get Williams he goes on to be Peyton Manning and our qb becomes Ryan Leaf. Such as life as a Lions fan.1 point

Reminds me of the time the left-handed throwing guy on the softball team I was captaining who didn't know much about baseball whined about me not playing him at shortstop...1 point

They've set up a couple busker spots between the shopping/restaurant portion of Colonial Williamsburg and the major tourist area. It's fairly new and "performers" need to be permited. Then there is this one guy who plays trombone....1 point

There a long industrial train track tunnel right next to the south side ballpark, and woe to you if you have to walk through it past the multiple bucket drummers encamped there to get to your car after a game, as thousands of people do, unless you’re already deaf.1 point

Heck, didn't the Marlins sign him as a SS? Baez to 2B, Cabrera to SS. What a fun double play combo that could be, eh?1 point
