  1. You are thinking too much! They have to use guys like Ibanez because they suck and nobody good wants to play in Detroit but they can't drop him because it will make it look like an unattractive place to play!

  2. Anybody here who's thinking of supporting Russia, just remember that they have a long history of hating baseball, which de facto makes them a country of unmitigated evil.

  3. With the dawn of mandatory ten-digit dialing, it is no longer necessary to dial a "1" before you call another area code, or your own area code for that matter. So save yourself the pain and agony of pushing eleven buttons to make a phone call and make it easy on yourself by pushing ten buttons instead.

  6. Less than ideal defensive alignment right now. Nevin looks way too slow to play the outfield.

  8. yes. Anytime you can keep this failed SCOTUS on the sidelines is a much better option. People don't realize the cost of voters always being so much in love with the next new thing that we keep electing neophytes to the presidency. That has include Clinton, Bush II, Obama, and Trump. So now that we actually have the 1st guy that's been around the block enough times to have a decent idea how to do the job since GHWB, everybody keeps acting so amazed when he pulls another rabbit out the hat. Regardless of whether you are a fan on policy or not, the fact is it makes a difference when you have a guy in the job who isn't trying to figure out the job as he goes along.

  11. Then you've never been in Big Shoulders when it's 48 degrees and breezy off the lake at midday in late May!

  13. While sitting around the house this weekend...watched "Inherit the Wind" which is chock full of great quotes about fear and ignorance. Too many to number here.

  14. You also have to give credit to both teams front offices for finding either cast off players that they knew could fit with them and their schemes(reminds me of the going to work Pistons) and drafting or signing udfas that they thought they could potentially mold or get use out of. In Miami's case it seems like instead of going after young players with high upsides like most teams do they went after older college players who may not have the raw athleticism or upside but are mature, smart and can fit a particular role.

  15. It's nice to see the importance of coaching reinforced...interesting that Miami and Denver (other than Nikola) don't have a collection of stars like the teams that are going/went home. Similarly...in the NHL the finals don't involve McDavid, Matthews, Crosby or Ovechkin. Gives me hope that Cade, Ivey, Duren and whomever we get at 5 will be enough for a good coach to build a winner around

  17. Tatum shot 24% from three for the series. Brown was even worse at 16%. Jaylen Brown is about to get $300M and he couldn't dribble through a couple of seventh graders without turning it over.

  18. Which is funny to me because the Bally broadcast would have you believe that Fulmer, Jeimer and Chafin were the best clubhouse guys ever

  19. I think the patch looks like cheap advertising, which it is. I wish MLB never allowed any advertising on uniforms but it looks like the wave of the future along with sports betting.

  20. The obsession with Fulmer and Chafin goes hand-in-hand with the obsession with several other ex-Tigers. I don't know if it is just because the fan base has heard of them, but there's a reason the team has stunk for the past 8 years, so there's no reason for ex-Tiger to be a criteria.

  21. serves them right for cheating to get him. so to assemble this grand team, they were docked a second rounder for tampering with Ball, gave up a first rounder to san antonio for derozan, gave up multiple first rounders for vucevic, and gave a supermax contract to lavine, and all they got out of it was one win in the first round before losing 4 straight. now theyre talking of dealing lavine to the blazers and breaking it up.

  23. But of course! Lets hope it's just the finger and it heels quickly and most importantly doesn't have any lasting effects on his performance.
