I used to enjoy having Jeff Frazier in the organization, he got called up to the Tigers a couple of times and when he got sent down again it was a mad dash to the keyboard, to try to be the first to post "Down goes Frazier! Down goes Frazier!"4 points

If you think this is going to be a piece of the MLB team, then every week of experience he gets against MLB pitching puts him that much closer to being the piece of the team you want him to be. Or in short, at this point he is wasting weeks of a short career. That's the tradeoff. We can argue what the opportunity cost is and what course yields the optimum return, but it is not zero.3 points

Impressions of media in NATO land: The public is leading on the revulsion at Russia. News on French, British, Belgian, German and Dutch TV was very hostile to Russia/Putin.1 point

It would help if he would keep his FB velo up. He was trending toward 90 mpH with the FB and throwing his slider up to 84. That's not enough velo difference. Manning should be able to keep guys off balance timing wise with his curve, but he doesn't have enough command of the curve, he's either hanging it or missing with it completely.1 point

I don’t think enough has been said about the fact that the Tigers were trading Jake Rogers (Jason Beck has said as much, which is why Sands was dispatched to Pennsylvania). It would appear that no major league ready catcher was coming back. To me, it suggests that the Tigers don’t necessarily view him as their catcher of the near future. Might be an area they address this offseason.1 point

Steve McQueen on a motorcycle jumping fences. What not to like. It's right up there with Bridge over the River Kwai and Stalag 171 point

He's a solid left-handed starter. That is one of the most valuable products in sports. I really doubt he is damaged goods. If he continues to pitch well and the option is out of the way, he won't be difficult to trade for market value.1 point

One of my all-time favorite old movies. If I’m ever flipping a channel and the great escape is on, I stop and watch. Love, love love this movie.1 point

I don't like the approach. At least the 1st time throw use your FB more until they start getting around on it. You're doing a hitter a favor telling him he doesn't have to look for velo right out of the gate.1 point

One possibility is because Anderson was straddling the base like the Colossus of Rhodes, which puts sliding runners in danger of colliding with his knees or other bones.1 point

This is not me saying what I personally want, but only laying out a potential outcome: it would not surprise me if, after Eduardo opts in, Harris trades him over the winter for less than market value, mainly to clear the atmosphere of any future influence Eduardo may have on other players, especially young guys, and as a way to communicate to others that this is what happens when you hang us out to dry or act out in public. If this does happen, Harris will get raked by a lot of the fans and media for it, but he will be unanimously supported inside the organization, because they have a mission and Eduardo will not be allowed to undermine it. I think this is comfortably within the range of outcomes.1 point

What is the benefit of calling him up two weeks early? he ain't gonna lead us to the playoffs. We aren't gonna get more clues on whether he is good or not. You have to lose someone off the ML roster. What is the benefit to give up the other parts that you risk?1 point

this is why it's so important to prevent Trump from getting back into office and institutionalizing the stuff he was too dumb to the first time. Maduro never could have stayed in power if Chavez had not been popular enough to create the systmem where his successor would not have to be popular.1 point

Rogers Hornsby was well known red-ass in the baseball field. He got into an argument at 2B one time and after some back and forth punched the guy in the face. After the game a reporter asked we he hit the other player and he said "i wasn't getting anywhere talking to him".1 point

I don't want to live there. I wasn't clear with my "retiring there" comment... But what I actually want to do is snowbird there Feb-March... maybe a another month here and there... But yeah... I hate Florida in general so I don't want a permanent domicile (hmmm... maybe for tax purposes...) in Lakeland Florida.1 point

What do we call it when the Tigers and each of their four full season farm teams all win on the same day? Immaculate Saturday?1 point

When did Anderson go down? Didn't see it... sounds like some homer embellishments, of the worst kind. { Edit: actually, I saw it from a different angle on youtube and Ramirez did connect but was just a glancing blow and really didn't hurt Anderson much but he lost his footing }1 point

Bigbie 2/4 today. He now has almost the same number of AB in AA as in A, and his average is higher, HRs are higher, OBP is higher, Ks are lower. Not much else you can ask a guy to do. I would think that should be a ticket to the next level.1 point

It's nice to hear some positive stuff from guys like Kerr and other outsiders, it's easy to take everything with a grain of salt when it's local beat writers or team insiders but it carries more weight to me when it comes from the outside.1 point

Full game broadcast from 1934, with Tyson on the mic. The Tigers were days away from clinching their first pennant in 25 years, so drew 29,000 on a Thursday. The amount of ads during the broadcast is insane.1 point

So, the Tigers are closer by committee now? Each day a new pitcher gets a one out save after Lange walks everybody.1 point
