Couldn’t you just cut Ibanez or demote Maton? Neither would be missed. I do think the OF will be Greene, Meadows and Carpenter most of the time. Baddoo will likely see his playing time decline in the process. You don’t call up Parker to sit. So, does Greene move to LF? The right move, but he might not be a fan. Should keep him healthier, though.2 points

I think the Carpenter is bad at defense stuff is overblown. Many defensive metrics rank him as decent. Yes, he's a had a few muffs at the wall, although today it was the sun more than anything.2 points

I don't know if that's the reason for his offense going down, but I do think multi-position guys can be prone to struggling defensively and perhaps even offensively from having having so much to think about. It's good to have a player like that on the team, but I don't know if like the trend of having multiple multi guys!2 points

I don’t fault him for the dropped ball—looks like he was struggling with the sun out there.2 points

All I watch is the highlights but Carpenter does not seem like Timmy Lupus to me. It's been pointed out that he does not make plays at the wall but other than that he seems adequate enough that he does not have to DH full time.2 points

I don’t know. I think the Yankees will continue to struggle next year as well. 😉1 point

I once wrote that Billy Nowlin was allergic to leather. He was terrible defensively, at any position.1 point

Still one of the all time great quotes in the old forum, someone said that Dean Green could hurt you with his glove, even at DH.1 point

The highs are very high and the lows are very low. Hopefully he’ll start to see better pitchers as the guys ahead of him continue to improve (and we find an established bat in he offseason to provide protection).1 point

Javier Baez. Love him or hate him, you will be entertained.1 point

The emergence of Greene/Tork/Carpenter in the heart of the lineup takes some of the pressure off Javy to be a primary offensive threat...1 point

Loved him here at ASU, elated when we picked him. Just needed a little time and we won’t be disappointed.1 point

Yup, pretty amusing for those that stayed away from the bust bandwagon.1 point

Yes - I loved Cabrera as a 3b. The problem with that IF was not Cabrera at 3B, it was having Prince in the field with a glove on at all.1 point
-
That's good enough for me. I always liked Cabrera at 3rd...if you hit it right to him he made all the plays, and he had a cannon. So that plus the 1.000 OPS made him one of the top 3 all-around 3rd basemen in baseball, and gave the Tigers a huge advantage in lineup construction. If Keith could be even a slightly below average defender at 3rd, with an OPS+ of 120, I'm sold. The outfield is too crowded for him, he needs to play 3rd and play it every day.1 point

Just as an aside, I have just noticed that the Atlanta Braves are nearly averaging 6 runs a game. 5.84. You’re welcome.1 point
