  1. Words of wisdom from a former president I didn't vote for either time that rang through my head as people were rolling around in the mud here yesterday.

  5. While the Lee family were prominent in Virginia and the Ohio Company (then part of Virginia) Robert E was a tad late to the party. In fact Richard Henry Lee had strong anti slavery sentiments https://constitutingamerica.org/90day-dcin-richard-henry-lee-of-virginia-continental-congress-delegate-author-resolution-that-led-to-declaration-of-independence-signatory-guest-essayist-joerg-knipprath/#:~:text=On the topic of slaves, end the overseas slave trade.

  8. If they prove that Ryan Day's investigators got the evidence from an illegal CNE. Its not going to be a Harbaugh story anymore.

  9. Life long Michigan fan, former season ticket holder. They did it and should have some form of punishment. Not sure how severe it should be. But not all of us are in denial.

  10. they have a brutal schedule next year (texas, washington, oregon, usc, ohio state). which is nice to see considering how awful their schedule has been for the last two seasons. if they miss the playoffs this year because they lose one game it will be entirely their fault and - most likely - entirely justified.

  12. Sometimes I think the end goal isn't really a TV commercial but more of a viral video thing

  13. It would be hilarious if Harbaugh bounces to the NFL with more suspensions/sanctions than playoff wins.

  15. Confederate flags and statues are participation trophies.

  16. I equate it with "Germans are good at engineering". If saying a race of people is good at something, that's usually a compliment. Someone saying "Jews control the world because they're good with money" is a different rabbit trail.

  17. A second listening and watching the video Cruzer posted makes me like the song better. I'm sure it was emotionally trying for Paul.

  18. Betrayer has mentioned this a few times. One of the Phoenix fans biggest complaints about Williams was him giving minutes to favorites whose play did not dictate they should be getting minutes. That is probably what is going on with Killian.

  19. I mean personally in regards to these statues, I have a very Trumpian view. Simply put, I don't like people that were captured or surrender. I like winners.

  20. I mean, the whole "Jews being good with money" thing is about the oldest antisemitic trope in the book, isn't it?

  21. As if being one of the most inefficient players in the NBA his first 3 seasons wasn't enough and somehow he's become even more inefficient this season which should be no surprise since he's playing against starters now. What's Monty thinking? This shouldn't even be an experiment, it's not like he's THAT good defensively like Ausar for instance.

  22. Whatever the case like Del said you'd think one of our crack journalists or beat writers would ask Monty about it but apparently they haven't.

  23. Point taken. One more point about those decrying the removal of statues of Confederate "heroes" is that the vast majority of those erected throughout the South and other places were funded by groups loosely, if not directly, connected to the KKK or Sons and Daughters of the Confederacy. There has never been, in my knowledge, a monument removed from a battlefield. Just an aside, there was a recent article in the Washington Post about the Lee Statue in Richmond that was removed. It has been melted down. Evidently the bronze was highly contaminated.

  24. I mean, it kinda depends on what "apparent" is to a degree right? "George Soros" is used as a trope in a lot of right wing antisemitism IMV.... that's pretty apparent to me, but it's coded as well in a way that gives plausible deniability.

  26. Further on this. The Beatles changed the way music was recorded with their experimentation, they changed how albums are made and released and how they were singular entities. That started with Rubber Soul. Before that, a band would go record 30 songs, the label would pick 14 or 12 and put them on a record and there was no real theme to it. Beatles changed that. Also - music videos. They were the first band to consistently do music videos (because they stopped touring). The way they changed their sound from 1963 to 1967 is pretty incredible too. Would Psychedelic Rock ever had a chance to be embraced if it wasn't for them? Nobody could have that impact again.

  27. I'm not feeling comfortable agreeing with Pfife so much in these last few posts from today and yesterday. Pfife, can you go give some half-assed defense to Nessel/Flint in the Politics Schmalitics thread so I can tell you why you're wrong.

  28. I'd have to go back and review the entire thread, but I don't recall anyone drawing an equivalency between the degree of antisemitism being exhibited by the left versus right in society writ large.

  29. Is it odd that someone who made all rookie last season is struggling to get off the bench and no media types are really asking why? We assume it is related to defense. But has Williams ever specifically said that? Has a talking head ever directly asked him why Ivey has turned into an 20 minute a night player?

  31. Sasser has a lot of "big shot" in his game. I don't know if he is a starter on a good team but I'd start him on this team and keep giving him as many minutes as possible. At some point, the Pistons will learn that trying to have Cade go 1 on 3 in the crunch time is not the best offense.
