  1. If Baseball were serious about protecting pitchers, they would deaden the ball to significantly reduce homers, which would reduce the need (or incentive, if you prefer) to try to throw every pitch with maximum effort and movement in order to miss the bats of all nine guys in the order who can take them out of the park. There’s no incentive for Baseball to do that, though, because the home run is their #1 marketing tool, and there is practically an endless supply of fungible pitchers they can run out there.

  4. I think we all understand the idea and see that it has some tactical merit. However, voting for any of the turds that supported Trump and the Big Lie is something I can’t do. They don’t believe in the Constitution or the law and deserve scorn. Just being better than Trump, while still kissing his ring is just a slightly weaker form of evil.

  5. It feels weird being in here. Like I walked into a bar and realized all my friends have been going there for years without me. I just don’t want to be that guy at opening day of the Tigers getting in everybody’s way that’s there all year.

  6. Yeah you are one of the lucky ones. Not having your heart ripped out all these years... I know you do season tix for Tigers so you are a little crazy! A little advice, stay away from TP he is a walking gray cloud.

  9. Also, climate change is huge. Young people are terrified of climate change and they don't think he's done enough about it. Why would they fear a perceived loss of democracy if we are doomed by our environment anyway.

  10. Bob Baun was traded to the Red Wings, went out to dinner with Gordie, and told Gordie how much money he was getting on his Maple Leafs contract. It was a lot more than Gordie was getting from the Red Wings.

  13. I once threw over 200 pitches in a Little League game. The manager brought me back to pitch again two days later. Today's pitchers are too soft.

  14. I think the increase in travel teams, from a very young age, has increased the wear and tear on pitchers arms. My boys played in tournaments where opposing coaches were gaming innings limits to make sure their best pitchers threw more. I also think the increasing pressure on HS and College programs to win can lead to bad judgment/behavior.

  15. The blackouts exist because of outfits like Bally. If Amazon takes them over I can't see them making the games Prime only. That might be too far for the organizations. Amazon could use the cable broadcasts to promote their prime product. For those locally without cable then they'd have to use Prime. So win win I guess. Then the broadband companies will hike their internet prices.

  16. Honestly, evaluate and ditch cable if this goes through. Switching from Comcast Cable+Internet to Hulu Live + ATT internet is saving me about 80 bucks a month. The only thing I don't have with Hulu are the Bally stations, which for me means Rays and Marlins games. If this results in blackouts being lifted and games moving to prime, you can ditch cable, subscribe to Prime and come out way ahead.

  17. I meant Seattle LOSING would have helped.

  18. I know Seattle winning would have helped the Lions, but my hatred of Matt Patricia supersedes my need to clinch the playoffs (which they will do anyway next week). I love the fact that the defensive guru blew a 4th quarter lead. **** him. And **** everything he's about. And while we're at it, **** every single arrogrant New England errand boy who worked for the overrated Bill Belichick. They all suck. It was Brady (and cheating).

  20. I think the "Dallas is unbeatable at home" line is a bit overplayed. They're 7-0 in Jerry's World, yes, but that's come against the Jets, Patriots, Rams, Giants, Commanders, Seahawks, and Eagles. A combined record of 41-57. They should beat four of those teams blindfolded. Credit where it's due for the other three, but a good team against a 0.500 team should win more often than not at home. And divisional games between good teams are always expected to be competitive. Detroit will deserve to be the underdog but I wouldn't completely write them off.

  24. Don’t judge me dude. This a message board. I’m an optimistic dude, life brings a lot of responsibilities with it. I’m allowed to feel as I please about a team who has literally been bad for 60 years. And I’m pumped as hell for this lions team. I’ve paid my dues. I can be critical on a message board during games. A message board I’ve been around a long time.

  25. While this is true. I'm not asking people to vote for her for President. I'm asking them to vote for her as a nominee to try to put a dagger in Trump's political career. There is a difference.

  27. That's not bad. It's about as much as I could ever do I'm sure. Even so, feels like something of a nice routine. Not that I don't have one for Lions games, but mine is just more akin to cramming in with those next to me, some semi-familiar faces and some not, high-tenning whoever came with me (who has also bought my beer), and high-fiving strangers after Amon-Ra somersaults into the end zone. None of my concern whether those strangers were fans for Bobby Ross, Marty Mornhinweg, or Rod Marinelli, as long as they put on deodorant we are friends.

  28. So the basic charge here is that Thomas is a 'kept Justice' by white conservative economic interests? A man willing to keep doing the right wing's bidding as long as the pay and perks are good enough? IIRC there is a term for that in the American lexicon

  29. I have to confess to getting angrier every passing day. As a woman (way past birthing years) I am, and will remain, very very deeply concerned for EVERY female member of my family. If you have an “R” after your name, it’s more than probable that I will never cast my vote for you again, not for as long as I live. And regarding Nikki Haley - no to her as well. Early this year, at a Susan B Anthony event, this was her take on the issue - “I do believe there is a federal role on abortion”. I’m mad. Very.

  30. You’re welcomed aboard the train as a fan as far as I’m concerned. I’ve never understood the mentality of yelling at people who hop on when a team is good yelling about who is a “real” fan is. Like, you’re the sane one! You’re the one who hasn’t wasted your entire life (up to 60 years) on a terrible product. I don’t blame you at all for not wasting the mental energy, we are the crazy ones. And we are all happy at the same times for the same players, so it’s all good in the hood if you ask me. I doubt they walk it back though. You said it yourself, this is a football city and a home playoff game will be insane for this city. People will pay whatever they charge, even if it makes the game atmosphere worse as middle class fervent fans get priced out in favor of affluent fans who show up at halftime after a late brunch at Parc.
