  3. I shouldn't do this because I'm just beating my head against the wall, but for those interested in how the situation can actually be read by fans.... The argument was never that the Tigers were demonstrating an interest in moving Madden to the bullpen today. They are not and they should not. The argument was quite clearly that the club's actions speak pretty clearly about how they view Madden as a long-term prospect, and that view is divergent from most of the online fan base you will read. The point of bringing that observation to the fore was simply to help folks here adjust expectations for the player accordingly. If you choose not to, no skin off my back. Not moving him to the next logical level, as a starter, to face more advanced competition after having extended success at the prior level, is quite telling. There was room to move him there to start the season if they chose to do so. They didn't and as I said in my original post, team's actions align pretty closely with their view of a player, if you're willing to listen. So, yes, they will continue to get him starter's innings for the foreseeable future, just not at the next logical developmental level, because they apparently didn't prioritize his development as a starter over a minor league vet and some bullpen days.

  5. Start of the season (before first pitch) 20-20 would have been good enough for me in the first 40. They'd only need to go 14-19 for that. So my expectation has changed. 23-17 is my hope now. They'd need to go 17-16 for that now. With their schedule, they can do that. I don't care that we're only beating bad teams. That's what you need to do. Beat up on the bad, stay within .500 against the good. Do that, and we're playing games in October. Early season observations are - I don't care about each player's batting average. Doesn't matter. Find ways to get runs in when you need them and they are doing that very well. The hitting will come around when it warms up a bit. - The pitching has been epic and we're lucky that Chris Fetter stayed. He'll be a manager in MLB next year. - "Hey Matt, that was fantastic how you no-hit the Mets in an emergency start, now go back to Toledo". I get it, who else could you send down? But Kenta is going to become the target of fans if he's terrible while Manning angrily tears up AAA. - Canha, Urshela might not be the big shiny pretty toys, but they were very good acquisitions for this team. Urshela is an opportunistic hitter that will never wow you with stats, but will get it done. Canha does what he does. Colt and Tork have had some hard luck hitting lazer beams that merely show up as outs in the stats. - Every win now is one less needed in September. How badly do you think the Red Wings want those losses to the terrible Arizona Coyotes back? Has your record at the 40 game mark expectation changed, or did you see them going something like 7-4 in these first 11 games. I still hate Chris Sale.

  6. I know it's the White Sox and A's, but if Skubal stays healthy he's gonna be a Cy Young finalist. As soon as I type that he gives up a dinger. I'm sorry for jinxing him.

  8. I genuinely love immigrants and have no idea why we would think its a good idea to keep them out. These people persevere like Americans wish they could. They come here and succeed at capitalism when they don't even know our language. I work with immigrants that do extremely high quality work and did it after overcoming all of the obstacles that come with migrating. It's absolutely amazing and incredible to me. What a dip**** policy to get rid of people with that mentality toward life. It's basically punching yourself in the stick

  9. Thank you. I appreciate that. I guess it turns out that watching every single Piston's game since 2001 earned me something other than 15 years of pain 😄

  11. Part of what makes April the worst month of the baseball season (aside from the weather) is that there isn't enough of a sample size to go along with the hot takes that get fired off about players when they get off to slow starts. Yes, that goes for Torkelson too... he's not the only person in this league who's off to a slow start FFS

  18. Kind of a cousin of Washington “Football Team”, but obviously for different reasoning. I remember when the New Orleans Hornets played a couple of seasons in Oklahoma City after Katrina they were called Oklahoma City or a combined New Orleans / Oklahoma City. Along with the basketball motif, the owner of the Sacramento River Cats, who will share their stadium with the A’s, also owns the Sacramento Kings who have bounced around quite a bit in their history including individual seasons that were spent being shared by Omaha and Kansas City. This is probably a run through for Sacramento to see if they might have the chops for MLB, at least from the owner’s standpoint. I think I have dedicated way too much gray matter to trivial sports trivia. I should read a book.

  28. Speaking of Fetterman, I remember the debate he had with Oz and the pundits all thought he struggled but I think what voters took away from that debate that was not talked about was Oz saying that abortion would be between a woman and her elected official. Media continues to downplay Dobbs.

  30. Heading into this game, the league average scoring per game per team is 4.63 runs/game. The Tigers are scoring 3.83 and allowing 2.17 (only Boston has allowed fewer, 2.00).

  33. Maybe they should try to play in a football stadium. The Dodgers played at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for four years while they waited for Dodger Stadium to be completed. Built for football, the stadium was ill-suited for baseball. However, the Dodgers made the best of it. A high screen served as the left field fence to compensate for its extremely short distance from home plate. Wally Moon, who played outfield for the Dodgers, became famous for lifting pop flies known as "Moon shots" over the fence.

  35. Fire Hinch. A manager NEVER takes out a pitcher when he's throwing a no-hitter. Not unless his arm falls off. These modern day pitchers are spoiled. Mickey Lolich pitched 300 innings per season. Prolly 150 pitchs per game. What a joke!!

  36. Gambling. You have to accurately report injuries. They might have to explain how a guy is listed as a starter and 40 minutes later is out. Cade or no Cade will move the line. Philly is going through this with Embiid right now.

  37. J&J need to go. Been saying that pretty much all season, low IQ limited skill players that get by on athleticism and pretty much athleticism alone. Keep the high IQ duo of Cade and Ausar, keep Fontecchio as a 3 and D, Sasser and Stewart off the bench and fill out the rest of the roster with the Ivey and Duren trade returns, the draft pick and a few capable vets through free agency. Their trade value, Ivey's in particular, might have already deteriorated but they should do it now before the rest of the league is wise to what they are. I hate to say it because there's a bundle of talent with both but they, one, don't fit here and, two, are never likely to play winning basketball.
