  1. No C-Mo in the booth today, thank goodness. I will greatly enjoy not having to hear him intensely inhale 172x today before speaking/growling about something. 🙂

  2. Benetti seems to be making big effort to work with everyone. Monroe's problem is just that he often doesn't marshal the verbal dexterity to be concise, so his entries run into Benetti's PBP. To the extent he learned any craft, it was before the pitch clock, and I imagine he's not the only color guy around the league who has had trouble adjusting to having so much less time. With Monroe, as someone up thread noted, what bothers me most is the constant growl in his voice. Maybe as he's gotten older that's just his natural voice now, but he need sto work on softening it if he can. That and that he repeats himself too much.

  3. I'm telling you, Bert, if you're not trading on your looks for a career as an old man fashion model, you're missing an opportunity.

  7. I dont think there is a decision that will need to be made on Craig Monroe. Because there is no evidence that his employer is upset with him, or the employers high priced PBP guy doesn't like working with him, nor has there been any reporting from respected reporters around the team that his position is in trouble. Until that changes, my prior that he will be calling games for the Tigers on Bally (or whoever), and that it will not involve any drama, isn't going to change

  8. Yeah, I addressed the make-a-decision thing in the part you cut. There's no right answer here at this moment. Just a couple of Internet randos sharing their opinions.

  10. It snowed a couple inches here today in Boise Idaho and there’s been 24 inches of snow the last two days up at the ski lodge outside of town. So now that I’m not particularly incautious about being optimistic I flew the colors today on my walk.

  11. The hitters seemed anxious and a little burned out. Road trip..waiting out rain for two days..doublehader..opening day...RedWing game and another early start and the energy just seemed a bit lacking. It happens. Win tomorrow.

  12. It’s a shame that Riley and Tork grew up in Saudi Arabia and are used to a warm climate. But once it heats up, so will they.

  13. Umm, no. But I would expect there to be some evidence that chemistry doesn't exit between the two of them or some subtle indications that there is friction before beginning to actually speculate these things. To-date, I haven't seen basically zero evidence that this is the case. So yes, one can continue to dislike Monroe's color commentary without losing objectivity in the process.

  14. I'll wait for Benetti to give any sort of indication before making that leap. Until that happens, it's people who are predisposed to disliking Monroe projecting their feelings on Jason Benetti

  17. I don't think Joey Wentz is goin to be here very long. He's horrible. Breathing and Left-Handed shouldn't equal a spot in the big leagues. He ain't foolin' anyone.

  18. Wow. Mr. Batting Practice. Hey buddy, you got a guy who was working on a no-no Thursday who wants a spot on this team. Might want to hunker down and stop giving up NO-DOUBTER home runs. This is brutal.

  23. It occurs to me that the first nine games of our season are all against the second-banana teams (White Sox, Mets, A’s) in three of the four two-team markets (CHI, NYC, SFO). That feels unusual to me, as in, that has not happened to any other team since interleague play started.

  24. I like how Omari has been calling this team and org out a lot lately Jaden hit a lot of threes. Coach still ripped him after the game for his turnovers and shot selection. One of those two will be gone this offseason for sure. They can’t coexist. Jalen did another Drummond impression all game. All you had to see was that play at the 10 minute mark in the first quarter. Messy dribble drive into a bad contested shot that leads to a fast break by Memphis that Duren didn’t get back fast enough to contest. If that doesn’t say Dre, I don’t know what does. Of course he continued to do that stuff all game, so it didn’t end there. Malachi who? Along with the Sasser hype train, I think we can officially get back off the “Wiseman is improving” train as well. Honestly, without Cade both of the bigs are looking suspect.

  27. Start of the season (before first pitch) 20-20 would have been good enough for me in the first 40. They'd only need to go 14-19 for that. So my expectation has changed. 23-17 is my hope now. They'd need to go 17-16 for that now. With their schedule, they can do that. I don't care that we're only beating bad teams. That's what you need to do. Beat up on the bad, stay within .500 against the good. Do that, and we're playing games in October. Early season observations are - I don't care about each player's batting average. Doesn't matter. Find ways to get runs in when you need them and they are doing that very well. The hitting will come around when it warms up a bit. - The pitching has been epic and we're lucky that Chris Fetter stayed. He'll be a manager in MLB next year. - "Hey Matt, that was fantastic how you no-hit the Mets in an emergency start, now go back to Toledo". I get it, who else could you send down? But Kenta is going to become the target of fans if he's terrible while Manning angrily tears up AAA. - Canha, Urshela might not be the big shiny pretty toys, but they were very good acquisitions for this team. Urshela is an opportunistic hitter that will never wow you with stats, but will get it done. Canha does what he does. Colt and Tork have had some hard luck hitting lazer beams that merely show up as outs in the stats. - Every win now is one less needed in September. How badly do you think the Red Wings want those losses to the terrible Arizona Coyotes back? Has your record at the 40 game mark expectation changed, or did you see them going something like 7-4 in these first 11 games. I still hate Chris Sale.

  34. I am—fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your point of view—headed to the Dodgers-Cubs game this afternoon. It will be the first game Ohtani has played on the road since the allegations, so that's going to be interesting. Although I wish I could see how Benetti and Gibson get along, so I will be checking in on this thread to get a sense of that, I hope.

  37. Bathroom doors. Why is there not a law that all public restroom doors have to open via push from the inside only? When I use a restroom that has paper towels I will dry my hands and use the paper towel to grab the handle to open and then pitch into the waste basket. But, when there are only air dryers you are forced to grip and pull the poop covered handle after you wash and dry your hands. Makes no sense to me.
