  4. I feel like Gibby's voice has much more energy and strength so far this year. Maybe it was just because it wasn't Craig, but I like to think it is.

  5. I don't think the fans care enough to. In any event, This is the worst season I've ever witnessed of any sports team of mine, even worse than the 0-16 Lions because at least there was a Stafford to look forward to and that team had zero expectations of doing anything, they weren't Year 4 of rebuild and still won literally nothing. The previous 3 you can understand because they were true rebuild years and there was some progress to be talked about at least, there were a few years post-Isiah that were really rough but they immediately got Grant Hill out of it then they got competitive pretty quickly. 2010-2020 was rough but there were a few competitive seasons thrown in there even if there was no hope for them to be anything more than mid. This season from the record losing streak to injuries to the worst coaching job I've ever seen to whatever the hell this roster has been since Casper Grimes, Ausar, Stewart, Tech and now Cade have been shut down to Gores sounding like a bumbling idiot blaming the fans for not appreciating the Pistons for their community work to the lack of progress from just about all the young guy, all leading up to one of the worst ever drafts and free agency classes with not much on the trade market (as of now) to be excited about. Yeah,...pretty pretty pretttty bad.

  7. I never really thought of her as being of The Squad, even though she was presented as the face of it. I have thought for some time now she has a long and serious future in the party and in national politics. As far as I'm concerned, she is nothing like Cori Bush or Rashida Tlaib. She is definitely not a dilettante.

  10. If Hinch were really a great outside the box baseball thinker, he'd run Foley - a RH ground ball pitcher, out there as an opener for an inning or two.

  13. Saw someone mention this on Reddit. The Pistons have won 93 games in the past 5 seasons. That is the lowest amount of wins in the league for that time span. Charlotte is #2 with 146. That means the next worst team in the past 5 years still won 53 more games than Detroit.

  15. appliance manufacture is a world wide business and without doing any specific research I'm going to guess they have to meet pretty much the same kind of standards in the EU/Japan etc. so yeah - they won't complain to be free of US standards but it is mostly right wing virtue signalling. OTOH, some of the eco stuff can get pretty silly. The greenhouse gas contribution from cooking a dinner on a gas cook top is a pimple on a gnat's ass. Spend the political energy where the real payoff is - the grid, transportation, utility generation, heavy industry.

  16. There is no doubt that Hamas has an agenda and the Gaza Health Ministry works under the auspices of Hamas, so they would have an incentive to cook the numbers to make the death toll seem high, and to ignore the difference in deaths between Hamas fighters and ordinary civilians. But Israel also has an incentive to cook the numbers to make the death toll seem low, and to characterize the percent of deaths being Hamas fighters as being as close to 100% as possible. So whom to believe? Most people will believe the numbers of the side they are squarely on. Me, I'm not on any side, except on the side of the people who want nothing more than to live ordinary, everyday lives minding their own business, so I would want to know the number closest to the truth, versus the number that best supports the purpose of breathing fire into a political forum. Why do I tend to out more stock in the Hamas numbers than I do the IDF numbers? According to this, the World Health Organization characterizes the Health Ministry numbers as, if not "perfectly accurate on a minute-to-minute basis", then at least as being "largely reflect[ive of] the level of death and injury" during the siege. Also, Israel sealed Gaza’s borders and barred foreign journalists and humanitarian workers from even entering the area from the very beginning. That's the action of a party that has an interest in shielding what's happening in the area from the outside world. I wouldn't take the numbers of either side as being ... ahem ... the gospel truth, but I do believe that one side's numbers are probably more accurate than the other's. In the end, though, we won't know anything that's closer to the truth than either side's for years, if at all, and even then, it will be at the behest of the party that gets to write it all up as history.

  17. Nah, I've heard that. I'm just thinking in terms of the industry execs.

  18. My working hypothesis is that the industry would love to have engineering constraints to add to their machines so they can charge more for a relatively simple device.

  22. You are hired to rebuild the franchise. You get 8 first round picks. 4 of which are 7 or higher. You get 4 years. You build the worst team in franchise history. This isn't the Vancouver Grizzlies that have been around 25 years. The Pistons were founded in 1948. The gravy on this turd sandwich. Most of us don't even think he will be fired. ****

  24. Moving a game from a wet chilly day to a warm sunny one isn't the worst outcome even if it has to be as part of a double header. Later in the year when a reschedule is just a likely to end up in worse weather maybe push harder to play it, but with the Saturday forecast in hand it probably wasn't a hard call for Harris et al.
