This evening I get to view BP from the field. Got to do it last year and got Miggy's autograph. This year can't top that but it's still fun to be down there listening to them all talk and such. They show the launch angle and exit velocity and it's easy to figure out what you need to do for a HR.6 points

I agree, Baez is not Cabrera. The last 2 years of Cabrera's contract were so painful for us to watch, but because of his status in the game there was never the slightest chance that the Tigers would do anything except let him play it out. Baez is different. The team owes him nothing, quite the opposite. There is no reason to allow him to keep playing. Give him the rest of his money and wish him good luck, and cut him. PS I was very happy when the Tigers signed him3 points

If they don't bite the bullet and cut Javy loose at the end of this season after 3 yrs of futility, any confidence I have left in this management will be gone. if you can't cut bait when you have to, you don't have enough will to win to ever get out of mediocrity. There will always be something that didn't work out, some player that disappoints, someone who got too many years, someone with a career ending injury -- it is inevitable. Its just a normal part of the overhead for any pro sport franchise today. If you are going to let it freeze your org every time it happens, you are done before you ever even get out of the gate. Fielder, Zimmermann, Martinez, Cabrera, Baez. it happens, it will keep happening. It's not the exceptional condition, it's the normal condition. The Tigers have been using dead payroll as an excuse not to improve for too long.3 points

Good night to be a Tiger fan. Tork bomb, Mize 3 no hit innings and Jobe 6 shut out innings.2 points

Maybe to change things up, perhaps Hinch doesn’t visit him during this offseason?2 points

In my lifetime, and I am not 60, it used to be a matter of pride that you ran a business without firing people. It was actually something companies bragged on. Then 1980 and Reaganomics came along.1 point

Baez is done. Theoretically speaking, I would think the Tigers could find a zero WAR player with some upside that would permit us to move on. A .5 WAR player would be fine in my book. The true opportunity cost is the message it sends both inside and outside the org about the Tigers and their approach to getting better. Baez holds no possibility of being any better than he is now. Someone else has some chance to be better than Baez. The decision is very simple.1 point

Carpenter is back. "He won’t be an everyday fixture in the lineup, Hinch warned, as the Tigers monitor his workload, but he will mix into Detroit’s outfield." Tigers injuries and roster moves (mlb.com)1 point

Or whether we would believe her when she says so. Why is it the only reporting I can find on this is from local Hawaii media and YouTube? Why aren't AP or Reuters, or CNN or even MSNBC, reporting on this? Wouldn't a former congressional representative being put on a terrorist watch list constitute national news? And why is it that none of the stories I see focus on her being put on the watchlist, but rather, only on indignant reactions by Gabbard and others to her being put on the watchlist? This all smells funny, as in, maybe it is she who is making the claim she's been put on the watchlist in order to, I would assume, acquire right wing persecution cred.1 point

Injuries are the only thing that can stop this offense from being an unstoppable buzzsaw.1 point

Statcast currently has Colt at +1 runs above average and the kid is turning the DP as well as anyone. Colt at 2B is not going to be pressing problem for the Tigers. If Jung doesn't cut it at 2b that will present a dilemma though.1 point

And Cabrera at his worst was still better than Baez in his current “prime”1 point

It's more than a little disappointing that management hasn't come up with at least a replacement level SS in 23 months on the job. It's not like no one knew it was a need.1 point

Wockenfuss was another favorite of mine. I hated to see him traded for some relief pitcher I had never heard of. But...it worked out pretty well...1 point

I would really like to be able to laugh at this one, but I’ve got girls in my family who are 3, 11, and 14…. so the emotion I’m feeling instead of humor is fear.1 point

Not really a peeve, just feeling upset today. Yesterday’s “Debby” stuff brought incredibly strong winds & lots of rain, and toppled my smaller (but totally healthy) weeping cherry tree. The tree thankfully didn’t hit the house, nor fall into the driveway and hit my neighbors car next-door. So that’s the good news, but I love that freaking little tree. Such a beautiful flowers in the spring, though short lived. It’s gorgeous weather today and I just can’t enjoy it. I’ll admit it. I’m really sad.😢0 points
