I’ve never been happier to have my CC charged $900. baseball on my birthday next week. So much for wanting Baltimore.5 points

I would have kept Rose out of the Hall just for his haircut. It reminds me of something else for which I have always wanted to hear an explanation...the are 1.8 million Americans in prison, but Ken Burns' barber is not among them.4 points

Not sure if anyone has already mentioned it, I don't see it at first glance, but Daniella Bruce quotes Skubal as saying that today's issue was just cramping and doesn't see it as an issue going forward.4 points

The latest from JVL. Vance changes personas more often than Trump changes diapers (my words) https://www.thebulwark.com/p/jd-vance-40-is-here?utm_source=substack&publication_id=87281&post_id=149705907&utm_medium=email&utm_content=share&utm_campaign=email-share&triggerShare=true&isFreemail=false&r=45wcm&triedRedirect=true3 points

So that we do not forget this in light of Trump claiming that there was no plan3 points

I'm with you. I hope the Tigers' relationship with its fans this October is like that of a content middle-aged man and a happy wife who have a bond that is cozy, fruitful and endures. Not a relationship like that of a newly-single middle-aged man dating for the first time since 2014 who is chasing thrills and spills with a young, hot but crazy chick who splits after the weekend.3 points

Imagine being off the grid for 2 months, you come back and ask your friends/family what their plans are for the weekend and they respond with "Got tickets to the Tigers playoff game".2 points

Nobody...nobody expected this run. It just wasn't supposed to happen.2 points

Seriously… after they went down 2-1 it seemed inevitable. That’s the kind of comeback that shows a different team. It can’t be chalked up to luck.2 points

Worth noting that Benetti is employed by the Tigers, not Bally. I believe that is true for Petry and Dirks too...2 points

If these dudes can somehow manage to win the World Series, it will be the greatest championship run in the city's history. Not predicting it, just saying. Would be fk’n amazing. LGT.2 points

Vance comes across as the guy who tries to be the smartest one in the room. Also the guy you watch at the bar to see if he tries to put something in the woman he trying to impress drink.2 points

Listening to Braves/Padres, and they just mentioned that the team that wins Game 1 of the WC series has gone on to advance 88% of the time. 'Course, that's only like a three-year sample but, hell, I'll take it.2 points

When Dan Dickerson was interviewing AJ before the game, their discussion of how for the last 40+ games the Tigers had already been in “playoff mode” really fascinated me. It reminded me of the first Karate Kid movie where the youngster is learning all the moves by washing the car, which will be put to use for a higher purpose later on. Here it was facing every game as if it were do or die — which it was — and making strategic changes as if there were no tomorrow in a fearless but calculated manner, then doing it again and again day after day and inculcating this pattern as a part of the ingrained muscle memory of the team. This is really a beautiful season for many reasons, but this is one of them.2 points

Here's a longer version of Dan calling the final out without getting cut off; Edit; Oops, already been posted. Should have known. 😁2 points

I hope for all our sakes that’s wrong. If you guys are lucky, what will happen in Detroit will be the same thing that is happening in Chicago now that NBC Sports Chicago has closed down: a new very local RSN will rise in its ashes, and the games will also air on one of the dot-two antenna channels. That way, not only would you not have to fight a bug-filled app to watch the games, you wouldn’t have to even subscribe to an MPVD to get access to them.1 point

The Astros are tired old men. They don't want to be in the playoffs again. They want to be golfing. Just let it happen Astros, the Tigers will make it quick and painless.1 point

I don't like Holton starting. Why not Olson? Or do we think Olson will come in after Holton? Wasting a closer type RP. At least, IMO.1 point

The deep wing on that sideline was there and ruled it a touchdown. He was just far back off the sideline and blended in with the sideline personnel so the broadcast teams didn't see him. The short wing was coming in too, but it's not his call.1 point
