There were some people setting up some kinda Trump stand in the Publix parking lot this morning. I yelled at them at the top of my lungs "TRUMP IS A FASCIST." It didn't accomplish anything, but it was cathartic.4 points

I always saw Vierling's value as his versatility. You don't neglect to fill a regular spot b/c you have Vierling but you have Vierling around to fill those holes that always pop up, either through injury, slumps, or days off. 4 days a week you'll need to fill one of those.3 points

I don’t think we should have a primary DH until at least six other positions have been totally solved, that is, manned by full-time reliable guys. I think we’re getting closer. Right now I believe first base, third base, shortstop, and right field are still unsolved, and catcher is basically half-solved. So we still need DH open to work guys who are slotting in and out of those other positions to keep their bats fresh. But I think once we close up at least 2-1/2 of those positions, then we can entertain employing a full-time DH.2 points

We are seeing the downside of Pitching Chaos with how badly these relievers are getting over used. i really hope we go into 2025 with a minimum of 7 guys we think can be 5+ inning starters2 points

I'll say this. If he wins, it's unequivocally not on Harris or her campaign, they have honestly gone above and beyond even my expectations given how the campaign came to be in the first place... It's on the voters. Enough people in the right places wanted this. It doesn't mean that that the Harris campaign doesn't have the responsibility of making the case between now and election day obviously, but at some point we need to stop blaming the candidates and start looking in the mirror. This is about as clear a choice as it gets just on basic competence2 points

It wouldn't make sense because obese men are more likely to be Republicans.2 points

Shane Farrell is John Farrell's son. John's last pitching stint in MLB was for the Tigers in 1996. So there's that connection, and Shane worked for the Cubs when Harris was there1 point

The language needs to more precise than that offered. 'Manage their system' could be administrative and have no direct connection to scouting and development, or not.1 point

This is the most important truth here. Ridiculous that it has to be said.1 point

Commenting on something like this is way above my pay grade. But I’m assuming this is some sort of improvement although I have no direct knowledge of the context within which this is all unfolding. The fact that people want to join the Tigers is good. The fact that Detroit is a destination is good.1 point

I'm repeating myself from last week. JJ will get his share and D will give up some passing yardage. Bend don't break, Vikings will have a hard time getting TD's. Lions by 2 scores!1 point

I’m sure players on about 25 teams would like to be traded to Detroit. And I’m sure just about everyone on the Browns roster wants to get traded out of Cleveland. 😂1 point

I feel a bit funny posting this because I don’t like the Guardians at all and in fact am jealous of what could have been if the Tigers had won game 4 or 5, but the Spanish-language calls of the Noel and Fry homers are a hoot. It really was a great game.1 point

Remember when Hillary missed like a day back in 2016, and the right wing hysteria that her health was too poor to serve? Good times.1 point

From what I've read so far Trump channeled the dirty version of Rodney Dangerfield at last night's Al Smith Dinner. Probably rehashed his campaign schtick similar to the one he did in 2016. Meanwhile Harris gave us this intro1 point

Just to play Devils advocate for a minute - The counter point to going after Bregman is that you have a 3 WAR player in Vierling who may not have a place to play if Carpenter, Meadows and Greene stay healthy or Wenceel improves a little more or AHM locks down DH. Now granted, Vierling's D in the OF is plus while his play at 3rd is maybe average at best, but even given that, how much are you willing to commit for an upgrade that may be not be that big (WAR wise, Bregman was 4.1 last season, Vierling 2.9) if it turns out he's replacing Vierling instead of Jung?1 point

On the Ken Burns Country Music doc they spend a lot of time on Kris and Bobby McGee in particular. He was hanging around the studio doing janitorial work and the bosses didn't want him hanging around the studio. Johnny liked him for some reason and told him to stay. After he started writing songs Fred Foster, the owner of Monument Records suggested a song with a title based on a secretary there, Bobby McKee. Kris mishead it and wrote it as McGee. He gave Foster a writing credit for coming up with the name. Roger Miller recorded it and it didn't do much. When Joplin recorded it, and died before it's release, Kristofferson said "After that I never had to work again". Kris was a Rhoades Scholar and english lit guy. The song is based on a Fellini movie for God's sake.1 point

The YouTube channel was huge for him turning his image around from the uncool side of the Koepka feud to huge fan favorite despite being on LIV. I can’t imagine a worse person to play with than Trump. Massive ego, will blatantly cheat whenever he can, and doesn’t think anything of the rules or etiquette of the game. Not a chance of him actually paying you if he loses a bet. None of that is political and pertains directly to what has been documented on his golf game.1 point
