I see a range of people who voted for Trump, some more problematic than others. Sure it would be nice if all voters did research and had critical thinking skills. And understood how much the Constitution was going to and now is being trashed. But I do distinguish between the gleeful fascist element and the lazy people thinking the economy would be better under Drumpf. At least the latter might be capable of learning a hard lesson, whereas the former are too messed up to redeem. Better citizenship from all would be the goal, and I am trying to remain a small degree of hope that a really significant part of the population can return to decency and honor in their voting choices. Not welcoming with open arms, not as sympathetic as I could be, but not casting all Trump voters in with MAGA Trumpers.2 points

Yes yes yes yes. And I will admit to taking some glee in saying I told you so. The ideological purists who expunge anybody who doesn't pass a left wing purity test are a big reason why we are here. Would you want to join that tent? Would you listen to people who treat you that way?2 points

It's actually a Freedom Phone. It's a $120 Android they sell for $500. It's a free speech and privacy focused phone. Basically it's a cheap Chinese Android that they put a bunch of right wing apps and a flag wallpaper on. It's also endorsed by none other than Candace Owen who likely gets some sort of kickback. Absolutely, but it's also not 49% of the voting population or whatever Trump got. I would love to peel some folks off of that group rather than push them to dig into their 'dear leader' and add to that 25-30% that is true MAGA.1 point

If you're not watching The Pitt, you are missing what might end up being in the conversation for greatest medical drama of all time. It can be a little hard to follow and you will miss a quarter of what they say because of the thick medical jargon—closed captions is an absolute must—but there is no show you can name that breaks through with more verisimilitude and humanity than The Pitt.1 point

You are underestimating the amount of people who completely tune politics out and vote for the party they've always voted for. The amount of people I've run into the last month who know I'm a federal employee but have no idea what's going on at work these days has opened my eye to this. I'm not talking about courting the racist uncle who wears the MAGA hat to his wife's funeral.1 point

So, again, after nine years of Trumpers wishing nothing but the worst for liberals, it’s liberals who have the obligation to reach out to Trumpers, a group of people who take their emotional and social cue from a nihilist sociopath, in the mere hope that they will respond in a kindly and neighborly fashion? Liberals are the ones who are supposed to make peace with the leopards? That seems like a tall ask to me.1 point

The Pistons just beat an NBA superpower with their only All-Star having a bad shooting night. Let that sink in. First I need to say that Beasley as 9th man on a good/contending team is a laughable take. This is a good team right now. The dude is a league recognized 6th man candidate who outplayed the other 6th man candidate handily last night. He's quite literally doing things this year that only Curry has done with his shooting percent on that volume. The "this is a bad team" stuff I keep hearing is simply doubling down on bad takes from the offseason and stubbornness to come off of preconceived bias. It's so easy to be a contrarian because only 1 team wins the title so you can always say "see, they didn't win it all", but bad teams don't do what the Pistons are doing night in and night out this season. And the best part is that the average age of the core players is 22. JB deserves coach of the year if this continues. Cleveland has been up and coming for a while and if you told people before the season that they'd win a ton of regular season games, it would have at least been in the realm of possibility. No way anyone would believe you if you told them what the Pistons are doing. No way in hell. He's got this entire team buying in on both ends. Guys like Beasley, Harris, and THJ that everyone ridiculed in the offseason for their defense are giving full effort on that end and making a difference. Every one of them had key defensive plays in that game last night. Speaking of which, its time to give Tobias some love as the solid vet floor-raiser many of us predicted he would be in the offseason. He's been very good for a while now. The three point shot could still use some work, but he's been clutch in so many other categories and is at the top of the league in +/-. And finally...Ausar. The last time I witnessed a Piston completely control a game without scoring was Ben Wallace. Ausar in the starting lineup has been that crazy. The number of steals, stops, extra possessions, and running opportunities he generates is unreal. This dude is a lock for All Defense first team every year if they ever let him start playing 30 minutes per night.1 point

I like this idea. Especially if the states have Democratic Senators or Reps in adjoining districts. Hold Trump like rallies. States with statewide offices s up this year should schedule events in Red districts.1 point

He's an 8th/9th man at best on a good/contending team. Nothing I said was a knock on Beasley, he has been great here.1 point

I was in the same boat as Oblong and it got to the point where I just felt The Wire was too old for me to truly appreciate it. I figured I missed my chance. During Covid, I hunkered down and watched it and I learned it was worth being mentioned as one of the greatest.1 point

We all know they are depending on Uncle Sam to take care of those problems. They will lean hard on American companies to use Intel if they ever get their stuff together. And they should because it does become a national defense issue.1 point

I have no clue how trustworthy people are in the semi-conductor biz so could be. I can say that a counter-point would be that the company I worked for in oil industry services had contracts with all the majors, we had everyone's data, we never shared anything with anyone - there was an ethic - you just didn't do it. Of course, the business was not high profile enough anymore to have media types banging down the door trying to pry something loose either!1 point

Unless you watch the Pistons night in and night out, I am not sure you can really understand how valuable Beasley is. He hits so many big shots for us and then he has games like tonight where he just lights it up. We have to pay what it takes to keep him.1 point

Today is the most underrated important day of the year for Season Ticket Holders: Seat Relocation Day! Will I sit next to criminally insane people again next year? Will Ford Field construct a Tiger Stadium style pole directly in front of the seats I choose? Most importantly, when we win the NFC Championship next year, how far of a run will it be to take down the goal posts?1 point

He has definitely improved his effort on the defensive end. He's also getting more reps as a passer with Cade getting doubled and turning it over less in those situations. Those are important improvements for sure. That said, the largest improvements in Duren's defensive play have come from JB changing the defensive scheme to trap instead of drop, Ivey's injury, and Ausar moving into the starting lineup. It's no coincidence that he's look passable on defense since those three things have helped hide his deficiencies. I'm still very on the fence about an extension unless it's a really sweet deal. I just struggle with the concept of paying big money to a rim running Center who can't shoot and isn't a positive defender in this version NBA. I'm excited for the team to make the playoffs because I think we'll learn a lot about Duren. Stew is the perfect big man for the playoffs, so it'll be interesting to see what JB does.1 point

Insane final yesterday in Mexico. Stats say that 20 year old South African phenom Aldrich Potgeiter (yep that’s his name) is the longest hitter on tour. He was in a playoff against 31 year old journeyman Brian Campbell, winless in 186 previous PGA tournaments, and officially the shortest driver on tour. Campbell slices a drive way OB that miraculously hits a tree and bounces back in play and then he sticks his 3rd to set up the winning birdie.1 point

That's sweet. I remember watching Player, Nicklaus, Trevino, Palmer, etc. Great stuff back in the day. Bobby Jones was the best ever. I can't prove it of course. I read he had a club head speed of 135. That would have been with a hickory shaft.1 point
