I see a range of people who voted for Trump, some more problematic than others. Sure it would be nice if all voters did research and had critical thinking skills. And understood how much the Constitution was going to and now is being trashed. But I do distinguish between the gleeful fascist element and the lazy people thinking the economy would be better under Drumpf. At least the latter might be capable of learning a hard lesson, whereas the former are too messed up to redeem. Better citizenship from all would be the goal, and I am trying to remain a small degree of hope that a really significant part of the population can return to decency and honor in their voting choices. Not welcoming with open arms, not as sympathetic as I could be, but not casting all Trump voters in with MAGA Trumpers.

Just my two cents, but I really think the Dems need to lean in on his embarrassing treatment if Ukraine a lot harder. JB Pritzker, who governs a state with late populations of Ukrainian and Polish Americans, seems like a good candidate to speak up on this.

Quite frankly I don't care about what he did with the Bucks last year or the previous few years or whatever. I really don't know, but what I do know in the here and now is that Beasley has been great for the Pistons this season which is what I'm basing my praise of him on. I even said that I'd be careful to not overpay him on his next contract and that I think the Pistons need to find a better 2nd option going forward but, again, in the here and now Beasley is certainly better than an end of the bench player on a good team. There's absolutely no debating this so I'm not sure why you're arguing with me about his future here when I'm not saying that they should back the brinks truck up for him.

The winner COULD be outfielder Elliott Maddox, who played in 109 games with the Tigers in 1970 but is pictured capless as a member of the Washington Senators on his 1971 Topps card. He does appear as a Tiger on a stamp and on an oddball card...do these count? Similarly, catcher Gus Triandos got into 106 games with the Tigers in 1963 but is listed as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies on his 1964 Topps card (despite being pictured in a Tigers uniform)...does that count? Utilityman Kevin Witt made 93 appearances for the 2003 Tigers as a DH, first baseman, pinch hitter, and left fielder. He's on a promo card for the 2004 MLB Showdown card game...does that count? Moving forward in time, we find some players who could be outright winners. Casper Wells appeared in 100 games for the Tigers in 2010-2011 and has nothing to show for it. Forum favorite Jim Adduci similarly has nothing to document his 88 games in 2017-2018. Australian reliever Warwick Saupold pitched 82 times from 2016-2018 and comes up empty. The goal for the D Party (and the anti-Trump movement more generally) right now is to push back against this administration in anyway possible and, in 2026, win a bunch of elections. That requires more voters - certainly when you look at the outcome in 2024, it even requires some folks who voted for him. You don't have to give absolution or anything, but when people feel like they were lied to and betrayed by Trump, the natural response for a movement that wants to earn back power and win elections would be to take whatever help you can get and deal with the next charlatan or huckster when they come. Or even work on policy in a way that makes it harder for the next charlatan or huckster to gain the kind of following that Trump did.

Well, this is poorly worded too. He's in the running, if not the leading candidate, for 6th man of the year on a good team unless you think the Pistons aren't a good team which I'd take issue with. As I said before, the Pistons will need a better 2nd scoring option when they're ready to really contend and they need to be careful to not overpay but you're really downplaying the impact Beasley has had on the team this year.

Donald Trump won the overall popular vote by 1.5% nationally, and by roughly 200,000 votes spread over three states (PA, MI, WI).... small, subtle changes in the electorate over the next couple of years can and will make a huge difference. It's not about the Trumpers, it's not about the "red hats" as you like to call them.... most of those people are just gone. But there's a slice of the electorate that doesn't follow politics as closely as your or I do, who maybe don't love Donald Trump but remember the economy as being reasonably good between 2017-2019 (memory holing how he ****ed up 2020). We pretend like these people don't exist, but they do.... The "leopards" and "FAFO" stuff is fast food for liberals, and it isn't without a modicum of truth, but in order to build a coalition to push back on these guys, there's going to have to be an acceptance of people who realize or admit that they were lied to by this administration. It's annoying, I'll be the first to admit it, but it's reality.

You are underestimating the amount of people who completely tune politics out and vote for the party they've always voted for. The amount of people I've run into the last month who know I'm a federal employee but have no idea what's going on at work these days has opened my eye to this. The Pistons just beat an NBA superpower with their only All-Star having a bad shooting night. Let that sink in. First I need to say that Beasley as 9th man on a good/contending team is a laughable take. This is a good team right now. The dude is a league recognized 6th man candidate who outplayed the other 6th man candidate handily last night. He's quite literally doing things this year that only Curry has done with his shooting percent on that volume. The "this is a bad team" stuff I keep hearing is simply doubling down on bad takes from the offseason and stubbornness to come off of preconceived bias. It's so easy to be a contrarian because only 1 team wins the title so you can always say "see, they didn't win it all", but bad teams don't do what the Pistons are doing night in and night out this season. And the best part is that the average age of the core players is 22. JB deserves coach of the year if this continues. Cleveland has been up and coming for a while and if you told people before the season that they'd win a ton of regular season games, it would have at least been in the realm of possibility. No way anyone would believe you if you told them what the Pistons are doing. No way in hell. He's got this entire team buying in on both ends. Guys like Beasley, Harris, and THJ that everyone ridiculed in the offseason for their defense are giving full effort on that end and making a difference. Every one of them had key defensive plays in that game last night. Speaking of which, its time to give Tobias some love as the solid vet floor-raiser many of us predicted he would be in the offseason. He's been very good for a while now. The three point shot could still use some work, but he's been clutch in so many other categories and is at the top of the league in +/-. And finally...Ausar. The last time I witnessed a Piston completely control a game without scoring was Ben Wallace. Ausar in the starting lineup has been that crazy. The number of steals, stops, extra possessions, and running opportunities he generates is unreal. This dude is a lock for All Defense first team every year if they ever let him start playing 30 minutes per night.

Yes, the 1968 Tigers won with a home grown core, and so did the 1984 Tigers. And this feels like the first time since 1987 - holy cow, 38 years - that the organization has once again stumbled across the formula for sustained success.
