  1. If he wants too much, take the comp pick and develop more Skubals. If the Tigers stay revenue sharing recipients, you are talking 3 of the top 35 picks or so in 2027.

  2. Well, you go ahead, but I'm not going to worry about tomorrow or 2026 or 2027 or 2030 or any of that. That's for future me to worry about. Present me is going to enjoy having the best pitcher in the game today help us win a pennant this year.

  3. look, i come not to bury tobias harris but to praise him. but every time we brought up kat this year we all laughed about what a soft pansy ass he was and said we cant wait to see him play weak in the playoffs. and now that its happened - just like it happens every year - you say "what a great job by harris on kat." i mean, sure. but we all know - and YOU know - that kat is a pansy. that's why jb putting harris on him works. not because harris is bad or because harris is a lockdown defender, but because KAT IS A PUSSY. he wont post him up and wont be aggressive. i dont want to take anything away from harris. he's a soldier doing yeoman's work. he IS playing against a guy who is 4 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier and he's staying with him. that says something. and he stepped up when stew got hurt. harris has been a good teammate all year. he's been professional. he plays hard and not dumb. but he's still tobias harris. he's a 4th option forced to be a 2nd or 3rd option because ivey is hurt. and that's ok. he is what he is and right now he's contributing to a team that just stole home court. let's all be happy.

  9. If hundreds of thousands of ciminals were let into the country, why did the violent crime rate not rise last year? I understand that there are logistical problems with allowing too many immigrants into the country at the same time, but they are lying about the violent crime wave. I realize that you guys know that!

  11. Exactly. You compete for chances at the prize, and with the projected rotation, you have a solid chance. You don’t give that up for the equivalent of 1 additional 1st rounder (assuming you lose him for the compensation pick). And in reality, you’d be lucky to get 2 top 100 prospects for 1/2 season of Slubal anyway if recent deadlines are an indication.

  12. If they are bound for the playoffs, then they can win the World Series especially if they have a couple of great starting pitchers. I don't think a team that is looking like they are headed for the playoffs would ever trade their ace at the deadline. I could maybe see them trading him before the season, but even that seems unlikely to me.

  20. The refs can't force the Knicks to draw fouls on shot attempts. Just because they're doing it 90 feet from the basket doesn't mean the refs are favoring the Pistons who are getting their calls by attacking the hoop. That's on the Knicks who leave their Center sitting on the perimeter. The fact remains that the Knicks have drawn more fouls in this series and the Pistons have been called for more fouls than any other team in the entire playoffs. The whistle is more than fair to the Knicks who aren't losing starters to foul trouble every game. As for Cade, he's attacking the basket with multiple defenders draped on him and shooting less threes in this series, so yes he's earned 17 FTs. The only one attacking on the Knicks is Brunson and that's why he got 21 FTs - again, that's more than Cade. In addition, he's drawn nearly double the calls that Cade has overall, which is just silly if you look at how Cade is being guarded by professional wrestlers out there. Tibbs argument is a house of cards for anyone who looks past the one stat he cherry picked. That's the point. That said, obviously Tibbs is trying to work the refs for next game as many coaches do. He's wants to phone a friend and get Silver and the boys to gift them a game for the sake of ratings by screaming "they're picking on us". Funny thing is, he doesn't need to. The only way the Pistons are winning game 3 is if they can shoot themselves out of the refs range of control. They aren't going to risk the ratings and revenue from that upcoming Knicks v Celtics matchup, so you can expect the Knicks to get a very favorable whistle. And sure I agree, I'd like to see JB talk about Brunson hooking and flopping.

  24. Oh, by the way, the FDA suspended milk quality testing yesterday. (Budget cuts) So, doctors recommendation is that you choose ultra-pasteurized milk instead of regular pasteurized, as that is cooked at higher temperatures so as to kill off more microbes, and have a longer shelf life. you know, just in case you want to keep your kids and yourself healthy, because the government doesn’t actually wanna be burdened with that anymore.

  25. The highlight of Norris for me was his last start in 2016 when we still had an outside chance at a wc berth. I remember watching it and thinking that was one of the most explosive fastballs I had ever seen. Unfortunately that was one of the last times he had any sorta life on his fastball.

  26. Right, the point of re-building is so you can have a bunch of good years after it's done. i'm not interested in a perpetual re-build (although I am in favor of a pertually good development system).

  28. Which is another way of saying that no-one will give up fair value even for a good pitcher even with a full year of control. Which argues that you might as well get the last year's value yourself, let him walk, and hope your comp pick turns into a serviceable player. I think you can do well with deadline deals with more average players, but not so much at the all-star level.

  31. Before I get roasted, let me preface this by saying I'm perfectly fine if Brad Holmes stays the course and doesn't make a big time move for a guy like Trey Hendrickson. Brad has earned the right to keep on doing what he's been doing because he's been successful at it. So if Hendrickson never comes here that's perfectly fine. I also don't suspect he will be a Lion, so my hopes aren't really up at all. That said, I think the Lions can afford Hendrickson and still be able to resign Hutch though. Assuming the cap continues to go up over the next 2-3 years along with Goff's contract being restructured and likely letting one or two of their own marquee players go/get cut. Jeremy Fowler at ESPN reported Hendrickson wants around $30 million/year. The NFL cap went up an estimated $23.8 million in 2025 from last year. The cap going up whatever percentage creates an initial bucket of cap space. We don't know how much it will go up in 2026 or 2027, so that makes estimating the increase tricky. Assuming it goes up again by a similar percentage though, as it has the past few seasons, that gives you more flexibility. Restructuring Goff's contract gives you the next bucket of cap space and could net a decent amount of space. Cutting Taylor Decker in 2027 gives you around $17.8 million in cap space while only creating about $6.2 million in dead cap. Lastly, if you're trading for Hendrickson you are probably still letting Jamo walk and one of Branch or LaPorta in this scenario. Is Trey Hendrickson really that much of a difference maker? I'd say with 40+ tackles and 17.5 sacks each of the last two seasons suggests he can be. If we win a Super Bowl out of him being that productive of a player, will fans care if that means we lose Branch, Decker, Jamo, and/or LaPorta in the end? I'd suspect "geez but our cap and roster flexibility and the fact that Brian Branch and Taylor Decker are gone next season" would be on the minds of almost no fans if they were to watch Campbell hoist the Lombardi in the post game show. I don't think Holmes is mortgaging his future and giving up his own guys or his high end picks for Hendrickson. So this is all a moot point really. I just wanted to put out there what I think scenario might look like trading for Hendrickson.

  36. Even with an offseason Jose Quintana or Chris Sale trade the guys you get could flop out or underperform. Go for the World Series. Take the comp pick if we're unable to extend him.

  37. Also, any suggestion of a contending team trading their ace for prospects is utter nonsense. They'd be more likely to trade two of their top 10 prospects for a two month rental arm to put them over the top.

  39. Lots of blame to go around. I’m sure management isn’t happy with the players, the players aren’t happy with management, even the newish coach may have frustrations. Good, I want them to all be unhappy and unsatisfied this summer until Yzerman has a good offseason and until the players come to training camp ready.
