I thought we had covered this many times before. A hard and fast rule of this forum has always been as soon as Josh Hawley is used as support, it’s a declaration of surrender and an immediate loss of argument.4 points

Still one of my favorite one of these. The moment he says Mrs. Ford. Man. Awesome.4 points

WTF is this FS2 nonsense? Given a multiple choice question an hour ago of which TV station is real between ESPN3, FS2, Mountain West TV, and Peacock+, I’m not sure I would have guessed FS2.2 points

I think there is something more than we see between Hinch and Mize. I'd be at a loss to see why Flaherty could be considered more 'trusty' than Mize in this universe, but Hinch has always seemed to have had a lot of reservations about Casey. I guess maybe if you think you need the shutout, Flaherty is maybe the pick as when he is 'on' he can be more dominant than Casey, but he's also more likely to blow up. If it were regular season I don't think you could reasonably argue that on average you are likely to get a better game from Flaherty but like I said, if you are going for broke I maybe see the choice.2 points

I agree. It’s smart, contained aggression. He punted on 4/6 in Bengals’ territory Sunday, because he knew his opponent. On Thanksgiving against the Packers, that might be a different decision. He knows what he’s got, he knows his opponents, and he believes in his guys.2 points

I believe Philadelphia was around 1200. WCAU? Baltimore and Cleveland also had strong signals. I hated the Orioles because they were so good. I liked them a little better when Jon Miller was their broadcaster starting in the mid 80s. What I remember most about Cleveland was Pete Franklin. He was a jerk, but at that time being a jerk on the radio was new and unique so I thought it was funny. Plus, he used to trigger Yankees fans by explaining to them why the indians were better than the Yankees.2 points

I think that is/was right. But then again, I don't know if he's even so much aggressive as that he understands how high the single play success rate is for the team he has on the field. The narrative is in large part about 4th down, but when you have Penei Sewell, two great backs and a QB that probably completes at an +80 clip in the short game, 4th and short is not as risky as conventional football wisdom would have it. It's less aggression than knowing what you have and a good understanding of the probabilities. And I wouldn't underestimate Goff's role. He has at least as much confidence and aggression as his coach.2 points

We were able to pick that up occasionally, but it was never very clear. If we moved the radio in the right position we could hear games fade in and out of static. We often had to guess what was happening in the game based on the crowd noise, broadcaster intonation and timimg of commercials. Philadelphia was really strong though and Harry Kalas had such a memorable voice.2 points

I have always had a soft spot for the Phillies because my father was a Cardinals fan and we used to listen to Cardinals/Phillies games on the Radio when I was a kid. The Philadelphia station had a strong signal and it was one of the few stations where we could listen to Cardinal games. That was before I knew that WJR had a strong signal too.2 points

KC got some assistance from the refs to even be in that game. Gift wrapped the ball at the 5 at one end thanks to what seemed to be a pretty obvious DPI. Picked up a flag for what looked like pretty obvious OPI on the other end. KC is beatable.2 points

I wish there was the option just to listen to crowd noise. And during the commercials, I would just be happy to watch the beginning of Baywatch, where the women are running on the beach. (That is in case the whole Trappist thing doesn’t work out).1 point

If they lose this game, the only thing that would keep me from giving up, leaving the ordinary world, and becoming a Trappist monk in Kentucky, is that I’m probably too old and I’d have to learn Latin. So I guess I’m stuck here for the duration.1 point

This rain really pisses me off. It reminds me of why I moved. When I moved from the Midwest to Tucson, Arizona in 1974 I went from 75 truly sunny days a year to 300. The spring and the fall were not gloomy, and while the summer was, admittedly, quite hot, there were no freaking mosquitoes. There were mountains right outside of town and when you drove up to the top, it was 30° cooler. To be honest, I have never missed the Midwest.1 point

There you go holding others to a standard you have no intention of holding yourself to. Theres a word for that1 point

That was my thought. You're more likely to get an OK game out of Mize than Flaherty, but you are more likely to get a dominant game out of Flaherty especially aginst a strong line-up.1 point

I'm not an AI fan, but I've been a computer fan since they were invented. They pretty much were a huge part of putting food on my table and feeding 4 kids. All depends on how you use them, but they made a ****load of people a nice living. But I do have a little AI story. My main computer (laptop) had a drive going bad. It's about 8 years old. Long story short, I had a guy put a ssd drive in an extra slot and we started booting from there, which made the old one a storage device long enough to get the data I wanted off. It was partially corrupted. There is still another slot so I bought another ssd (500 gb) to setup as a backup. I didn't want to bother this guy and it doesn't look to difficult to do anyway so I decided to do it myself. Since my computer will be off I wanted to transfer the transcript to my phone so I had the directions handy as I tore off the back of my laptop. I was using Microsoft co-pilot, new to me. Once I got into this, I couldn't get the battery unhooked, so I got on my phone to ask for help - it started talking to me. WTF? Don't know how, but it did. OK, so let's go with the flow. For the next 15 or 20 minutes I am having a conversation with what sounds like a really nice Australian guy - and customer service like we have never had before - and they are there at all times. They even tell you so. I'm right here to help, just ask. Your doing fine... It's creepy. But it did a great job helping me add this drive (it wasn't that tough). But still, creepy. Once done, my instinct said to say thank you - to who? Just for ****s and grins, I asked it if he was from Australia. No (your name - they do that a lot), just a typical AI. Then I told it they didn't have to listen anymore. They said OK and have a nice night they are always there for me. Settings, apps, co-pilot, uninstall1 point

Campbell's in game decision making goes vastly underappreciated as well, is he flawless? No but all the metrics point to him being one of if not the most valuable coach in the league in that regard. He's far more than just a motivator like people think. Also we still don't know how much Campbell and the coaching staff he has brought in has influenced the draft picks and/or development of said picks. I love Brad but he shouldn't get all the credit for how well the players have turned out, many of the hits very well may have been busts with a different person leading them or may have not even been drafted if not for Campbell. You see in those behind the scenes videos Brad always sitting side by side with Campbell and talking with him about how he feels about a player, basically using him as his consigliere.1 point

So given that the Tigers were considered underdogs by everyone going into the series, if a Great Spirit offered a deal tonight of a split of the next two games, reducing the series to a one-game winner take all with Skubal on the mound, would a Tigers fan accept that offer? I’d say no, need to win both of these games. Not to mention doing so would save Skubal for the beginning of the ALCS.1 point

It seemed to me that whenever Monty was in the game that the defense keyed in on him. Like they knew it was his home coming and that the Lions wanted him to have a good game so they figured when he was in there he was getting the ball and the defense sold out on stopping him. To further this thought, I think the Lions took advantage of this on the Monty-Pass play. The defense keyed in on him to stop the run and then "oops, here's a TD pass."1 point

Just watched a video where Geddy and Alex announced, rather emotionally, that they will tour in 2026. Annika Nilles will play drums. She toured with Jeff Beck and is awesome. Geddy also said they may bring along a keyboard player so he can focus on bass. This is…. Awesome.1 point

I'll go on record and say that I could not care less what the stadium is called. Sell the rights for as much as you can, and pour those resources right back into the team. I never say "I'm going to Comerica Park", it's "I'm going to the Tigers game", and that's not going to change (even if they called it Tiger Park, which they won't).1 point
