  1. I do think there is something to be said for what signing an in-house franchise stud says to the top tier free agents on the market: if the Tigers are willing to commit real money like that, they must be serious about contending. Couple that with the #1 farm system in the game starting to matriculate at the same time, and I think that would make us a lot more attractive a consideration in the free agent marketplace.

  5. I don't mind the jerseys even though I despise the teal, but I really don't like the center court transparency and I especially hate the logo they used for the broadcast because it just looks like the Orlando Magic logo. And why is the logo on the court transparent but the version of it on the broadcast is blue? And why is only the horse's eye red? It doesn't match the logo on the broadcast or on the shorts. Why are we using so many discordant colors: black, red, teal, and yellow is an awful combination of colors that you would only find together in a child's playroom. Ok, old man rant over.

  8. lol, if you say so! Although you gotta admit it's hard to not take something seriously when someone prefaces it with "but seriously". I wasn't trying the condescend to you or insult you. I'm sorry you took it that way, honestly. I'm not taking it back, of course, because I meant what I said. I'm just saying the intention was simply to put across my idea, not to insult you. If my intention was to insult you, you would definitely know it. 😁 I meant it because if you encountered actual people of color with modest means on a regular basis, you would not have used the sweeping generalization that entire ethnic groups bypass what the rest of us (?) consider standard government practices such as obtaining an ID. I'm just here to tell you from firsthand experience that most of the people I see on a regular basis take a lot of pride in the way they are navigating their lives despite the lack of resources and the apparent apathy of various systems seemingly designed to thwart them (as well as actual antipathy from the federal government). All they really want is for the system to recognize and respect them as citizens so they can participate in it fully. Yes, a few of my clients have checked out as you implied. They are a tiny minority of the people, barely double digit percent if that, and 100% of my clients are all in dire need of pantry assistance, especially since SNAP is being simultaneously dangled in front of them and then snatched away. No matter how hard things get, people still have faith. Ever hear the James Brown song, "I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing (Open Up the Door, I'll Get It Myself)"? That's it. That's the whole ball of wax right there. And yet: so many of them still believe things can change, for the better, with different leaders. I can only admire the tenacity of that belief considering the centuries of evidence piled up against it.

  9. I swear to God, LaceyLou, the first person, man or woman who speaks to me, face-to-face, and refers to a 13/14/15 year-old as an “underage woman”, I will have a very difficult time not being physical with them. When did decent human beings revert back to this mindset? It’s beyond appalling but additionally , so very depressing.

  10. His OPS was .666 last season. He’s done. McKinstry and Baez are better options at this point. If we think this team needs a mentor, let’s find one that can still hit.

  12. Sure, but Trump won an election with 250k votes spread across three states with an approval sitting between 45-50%. He's currently at ~41ish percent in the aggregate and is getting polls showing him in the 30s. So yeah, when you win an election with 250k votes spread across three states while sitting at 45-50% and you lose 5-10% of your approval/support, that is *catastrophic*. I don't care how devoted the base is. That's not rose colored glasses, thats just objectively looking at the situation. What happened last week is a strong piece of evidence as well

  13. She's the one who gave the Duggar family a platform to defend the oldest son's behavior when it came out that he had molested his own sisters. In other words, not a surprise at all. And a lot of the women in MAGA already feel this way, and I'm sure most of the rest will fall in line soon. Sometimes women are their own worst enemies.

  15. I mean, I did say please not to take it the wrong way. 😉 It was just my honest reaction to what I viewed as an extremely condescending response from you. No need to read the rest of my response anyway, it was spot on logically and there would be no legitimate argument against it anyway.

  20. I was wondering why the Tigers needed to drop Lange to make room for Darnell since I thought their 40-man roster was at 39. Then I saw they had signed Jack Little. Harris is wheeling and dealing! Jack Little sounds like a name you come up with a little too fast when you need a fake identity,

  22. I hear you, and I'm at the point where I don't bother with any 'news' that claims Drumpf or any politician is done. I'm less sure that the abuse of girls will bring anybody down-I've been burned a few too many times by comments joking that 'at least they're going for the right gender, ha ha ha' and a general dismissal of girls being sexually abused. In fact I've heard girls as young as 6 as 'asking for it.' The only time some people care is if a girl gets pregnant as a result of the abuse, and then of course she must be compelled to carry that pregnancy to term. Once she delivers, she's ignored again at best or demonized at worst. I only hope I'm proven wrong this time.

  23. Massie's point about how will you answer the question in 2028 is a good one. I'm still suspicious that it will mean much though. So far nobody has been able to slice through Trump's hold on the GOP. Vance is a snake and I don't doubt he'd seize an opening if he saw one. I'm not being contrarian... just been burned too many times. Maybe a Dem house can impeach him again and Vance makes his move with GOP Senators to convict.

  25. Stat of the day: 8 of the last 15 AL CY's have been won by either current or former Tiger pitchers.

  26. Yep. They've played a pretty weak schedule. But the formula is beat up on the bad teams and go .500 against the good ones. I don't care what the schedule says, 10-2 is pretty good.

  30. If it weren’t for all the AJ Brown drama I’d say you are right. But given his current mental state I’d say there’s more to it than that. I want to be clear that I don't think they were like, let’s test Brown’s commitment to the team here. I think they were just as surprised by his effort as the fans were the players call. I'm pretty sure that breaking the huddle he knew the ball was coming. I think Brown just doesn’t give AF right now. Like his thought was you wait all game to get me the ball and now it’s this 50/50 ball. i could be wrong. He did tell all his fantasy owners to drop him.

  31. Good to catch Chicago without Giddey. 80% of the Pistons starters not playing. 40% of the Bulls starters not playing, Tickets still 100% of the price.

  32. Coming up on year four of the Harris regime and we are still assuming just nine regular position players?

  33. Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous, especially considering that everyone knows Scott Harris is going to do exactly what I believe is right for the team. 😉😁

  34. Just saw the play again. Didn’t actually overthrow it like I remembered. AJ Brown just didn’t put any effort into catching that pass at all. Wild. Probably should have punted. That would have been the safest bet. It also took the game out of his team’s hands, so I at least understand the thought. In this league, expecting your best WR to win a 1-on-1 or draw a DPI is not a terrible call, it’s just much more of a risk. Throwing the ball to your tantruming child of a WR was probably the bigger mistake. At least they found out they can’t count on him when the team absolutely needs him now, in a game they won in the middle of the season, rather than in an elimination game. Probably should have just punted.

  36. What I see more often is people explaining why Harris or Ilitch won't like any player and how no player will want to play for the Tigers so it doen't matter anyway.

  37. I'll predict he is not even considering Detroit as a destination.

  38. Unless they already play in Florida or AZ or even CA, I suspect most players 'commute' so the city itself is kind of irrelevant. Especially those that command the types of salaries a FA would get. I don't think a city, during the season, matters to them. They are always working anyway.

  42. Let’s not forget that Skubal pitched 6 innings in Game 5. Then sat home and watched Yamamoto pitch in two consecutive WS games so his team could win the series. When Tarik can go 7 innings in an elimination game, I’ll take his desires a bit more seriously.
