Dan Miller (with Lomas) calls Bate’s’ tying FG, Gibbs’ OT winner and the clinching sack. Hutch’s OT Sack Beats Giants.m4a Gibbs’ OT TD vs Giants.m4a Bates FG Ties Giants.m4a2 points

They deserved to lose but they have the best RB in the NFL.2 points

i hope they throw the ball to a stationary Gibbs out in the flat at least 6 more times today!2 points

You should be allowed to jump once the play clock hits zero, even if the ball hasn’t been snapped.2 points

I didn't have a single moment of concern. I had about three hours of continued concern1 point

Ok, that clarified it for me. I really appreciate the detailed explanation1 point

You don't apologize for a win, but that was as ugly as they come.1 point

Lions had no business winning that game. Same old Giants.1 point

Shocker that there was a flag that would have bailed them out no matter what.1 point

Kafka is stupid. They are moving the ball almost at will. Take the ball, score, and put pressure on Detroit. Instead they give up a home run and are now in panic mode.1 point

If the Lions somehow win this I accept that a win is a win but this team is in deep trouble. Their problems aren’t coaching or play calling. It’s poor line play, both sides of the ball. That is certain death.1 point

59-yard FG good. And now for the crushing loss with 28 seconds left. 😏1 point

Let Winston beat you. No blitzing necessary.1 point

Anyone who wants to continue to simp for this team can kiss right off. This is indefensible right now, losing to The Giants. I'm sure we'll still get Bradbots and Danbots defending this crap though.1 point

The blitzing is not working. Just make Winston beat you.1 point

Sure. Create a scenario where the season ends with Detroit right at the salary cap. Harris makes $26 million, so when his deal expires it would drop them $26 million under the cap. Meaning they could spend $26 million on a new free agent. The reality is, they are quite a bit over the cap. Far enough that his expiring $26 million will not create any new space to sign someone. That $26 million still comes off the books, obviously, but it doesn't create cap space to use on a new player. You basically have three options at that point. Option 1. They like Harris and want him back next year. They have his Bird rights and can go over the cap to keep him. Option 2. They want to move on from Harris, but still want to use his $26 million on a player. Since letting his contract expire won't create cap space to use, you have to trade him for a guy making similar money. If his contract is longer, you still have him on the roster next year. If he also expires this summer, they would have his Bird rights and could go over the cap to sign him. Much like Option 1 with Harris. Option 3. They don't want a player and prefer the $26 million just goes away. Duren/Ivey need extensions this summer, Ausar next year. So losing that $26 million off of the cap might be desirable.1 point

What's the old saying; the happiest days in a boaters life is the day they buy and the day they sell. My neighbor brought a boat home once. I asked him if he bought a boat (kind of a dumb question when it's sitting in his driveway). He said, no, are you nuts? That was my next question I told him.1 point

If I had a nickel for every game Lions fans have called a must win this season I would have a nickel for like half of our wins.1 point

Scott Harris has a decision to make. Extend Skubal this off season or keep him for 2026 and then let him walk. Or trade him this off-season. I say trading him at the '26 trade deadline would have the fans and media screaming bloody murder, if the Tigers are contending. Also, a short rental would get much less in return. And it may cost much less extending him now, if he has another outstanding season, his price tag would go way up. I really hope the Tigers and Skubal work something out, he should be a Tiger for life.1 point

I’m sorry. I just let that get through the filter. My bad.1 point

Yep, most definitely. He might not be as dynamic as Beasley but he's a better overall player.1 point

When you look at a map Superior is way up there (cold), and goes way West too. I find the ships fascinating. Back around the mid 80s the company I worked for built a machine for a big Ford foundry in Windsor. I went back and forth each week for about a month. Had another guy with me. Few years before he worked at the shipyards along Front St. in Toledo. He said he could get us in, and he did. The Fitz and the Anderson were not uncommon to Toledo, so they dealt with some big ass boats. The Toledo shipyards had a couple parking spots for the ships. Depending on what they were, they would place them in different positions in what would eventually become a dry dock. They would sit on huge bundles of railroad ties of different sizes to accommodate the version of ship and where it parked in the bundles of ties. Once the ship got in, they sealed it off from the Maumee river and pumped the water out. Between the two docks was a railroad track with a crane. It would lower 10 by 40 foot plates of 1" steel into the now drained out hole. Once lowered 30 to 40 ft down in the mud, it was moved into place by block and tackle by the workers in the hole. It was then welded into place. Ships run in the summer, they fix them in the winter. The pattern shop, not far way, was a huge building where they layed out scaled templates for the fab guys to repair the ships. They didn't have any windows. If it was zero outside, it was zero inside. I was there in 1986 I think. It looked like 1886.1 point

Agreed. Maybe he was trying to stop the Piston momentum? Or hoping to give his team momentum?1 point

Just want to point out that if they do that before his debut, it makes him ineligible for the PPI pick. Given McGonigle's prospect status, he's a lot more likely to make that a big deal.1 point

This is the correct answer and at that speculated price, absolutely laughable. I know Utah doesn't have to trade him because he has term on his contract hasn't indicated that he wants out but that price is insane unless it was for a legit superstar. In any event, if they're paying a high price for a legit #2 option, and I question if he is a legit #2, it's JJJ. He's young enough, signed to term, plays a two way game that fits this culture better than Markannen and has college roots in the state. He seems like the most logical option for a big splash trade which I think is unlikely. I do think the Pistons are ripe for a bigger trade. They have the young assets, the cap flexibility, tradeable vet contracts, finally have control of their own 1sts and an overcrowded roster with legit NBA players that won't be able to get minutes once all of the healthy guys return. I have no idea how JB finds minutes for everybody but that's why he gets paid the big bucks.1 point

It seems like Harris is pretty good at building bullpens for Hinch to use. The bullpen was a major reason the Tigers made the playoffs in 2024 and standing pat on questionable arms isn't the best idea. Turnover seems to work best, while a solid bullpen is the difference in a playoff team and a bottom feeding team, building a bullpen is such a crapshoot.1 point

This. He’s always been an attention whore. Plus his take on political policies was never based on any sort of principle or values learned from experience with the public’s lives. All just an opportunity to grift and bask in the limelight.1 point

aw, man, I just heard about this today. it's not like I was a major fan, only have one album, but I really appreciated his songwriting whenever I'd dig it out. I've always especially liked his cover of "The Joker". "Doublewide Blues" was another good one from that album.1 point

The best advice is to ignore any specifics when it comes to contract or trade speculation. Too many journalists, professional or amateur, are desperate for relevance and livelihood, so reporting standards have completely slipped. And that goes for the guys at the Freep and Det News, too. Enjoy it for entertainment value, but don’t take as gospel.1 point
