  4. I don't believe Harris and Hinch care about a "real" closer. I think they like the committee approach.

  5. Easy: Hernandez was framed by Crooked Joe to cover up his own drug-running operation that intended to kill off rural white Americans who love Trump, so the Criminal Democrat Party could create a one-party fascist state and come after all the guns. Ooh, that was fun. Give me another one.

  6. The problem, and this is a success by Trump and his team because they enabled it to some degree I think, is the "Trump is crazy, he's losing it, he's dying, he's finally crossed the line, this time it's reallygoing to happen" stories have been beaten to death for 9 years. It's not news. It doesn't sell. Back in 2017 and 2018 we all thought he'd be taken down by the likes of Manafort, Flynn, Mueller's going to rescue all of us.... then it was Georgia, then it was Jack Smith.... He's indestructible. Stories about his demise and mental well being just don't register anymore beyond the echo chamber. Everybody knows what he is and what he's like. I mean... if I see another tweet by George Conway along the likes of "This guy really lost it....". I almost think Conway is trolling us with crap like that. Yes, I believed you the 4,000 other times you said it. It's just a giant circle jerk now.

  10. It’s just wild how open the racism is now. There’s no saying the quiet part out loud. There’s no dog whistles. It’s just there. It’s normalized.

  12. Another intriguing starter option that should be cheaper (3 yr/$30 mil projection) is Cody Ponce. His uptick in velocity and added plus splitter make him an interesting option that I'd hope we would be in on. If they could get him, go after Bregman, and spend $20ish mil on a couple higher caliber, high K pen arms I'd be extremely happy.

  14. I'm hesitant on someone Tampa let go of for a relatively reasonable 1 yr $10 mil (adjusting for the buyout they gave) when his history suggests he's worth more than that. Even if they held onto him for trade value. It makes me concerned they know something.

  15. His incoherent rambling is glitching. My dad has pretty advanced dementia and acts like Trump. He doesn’t stumble over words like Biden or freeze like McConnell, he just says some random and unhinged things.

  17. Not sure if everyone knows about Killer's Christmas. Tom Kowalski started the charity to provide presents for kids at Christmas, and some people have carried it on after he passed away. One of the things they do is a silent auction, tons of signed Detroit sports memorabilia and stuff like that. This year's auction includes a 4-some at Crystal Downs. Curious to see how much that goes for.

  18. Except Diaz would be at least double that per year and at least double the years. Think more like $80 mil over 4 years instead of $20 mil over 2.

  19. He signed Moseley after signing Sutton to be CB1 and also signed CJGJ and drafted Branch. Moseley was a low risk signing and wasn’t signed to be the answer. Davenport was similar.

  20. The masters of corporate media are so paranoid that when Maga is finally deposed their taxes are going to go up that they are going to accept any kind of compromise of sanity to put that day off. And of course, fools that they are, they don't realize that the harder they keep pushing back the more drastic the reaction against them will be when it comes. They should study the 1st French revolution.

  24. This and that blacks were the descendents of Noah's cursed son Canaan - Gen 9:25 fit the Slaver's narrative so well there could only be one way to read it couldn't there? So they created the condition that matched their reading then used the reading to justify the condition. Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.” 🚫

  28. The Clippers, man. OKC gets the Clippers pick this year unprotected. Next year, OKC can pick swap with LAC unprotected. The year after that, Philly gets the LAC pick unprotected. The 4th year, if the pick is top 3 then LAC keeps it. Anything else and Philly can pick swap with them.

  32. Ehhhh I don’t really fault the Lions for that one. He’s only got 90 pass rush snaps because you might as well have 10 players on the field if they run it at him. A team like Dallas can afford to have a player who only contributes 5-10 snaps per game. But he won’t be on the field if Detroit can gain five yards between 1st and 2nd down.

  35. Mace is one the people trying to get a discharge petition out to ban congressional stock ownership. I don't know where that puts her with Trump but it's put her in Dutch with the leadership grifters on both sides of the aisle.

  36. What always makes be laugh about creationists is that however creation came into being, if someone who was there and understood it had actually tried to explain it to a bunch of bronze age nomads, in the end they probably couldn't have done all that much better than Genesis. I mean, have these people ever given serious consideration to what would have happened if Moses had come down from Sinai with Quantum Theory and General Relativity on the tablets? It's just a complete lack of understanding of both the context and purpose of a creation narrative.

  38. I watched the Rams game. It was a really good game. Stafford with 3 turnovers was surprising. The Bears being the #1 NFC seed this late in the season is the surprise of the year. That Washington-Denver game last night was really good. Bo Nix is the real deal...

  39. You assume way too much here. An atheist may or may not be a devotee of science. There are thousands reasons someone may or may not believe in God; being of a Scientific bent is only one and it isn't even particularly determinative. I know many religious scientific people and of we course we know many of the greatest minds in the history of science believed in God (e.g. Einstein). In my experience it's not Science that makes most atheists. Most people I know that don't believe in God have come to the conclusion from looking around at a world they believe is too f'd up to believe anybody is running it - no science required.

  40. This is ridiculous. The vast majority of posters here seem to be pretty happy with Harris overall. Wanting Harris to be a little more aggressive is not a suggestion that he's a flop. I personally love that he is a "college boy" and an analytic nerd, but that doesn't mean I am going like everything he does or doesn't do.

  41. I get the depth argument, especially for this upcoming year, although I wouldn't characterize the strategy as being the same as that for the Rule 4 draft, where you simply get the best available player regardless of position or what you have in your system now, then deal with sorting them out another day. I don't think we can pretend that if we were to sign Bregman and Bichette for multiple years—as some would like to—that there wouldn't be some sort of reckoning when it comes to McGonigle and Rainer. There have been plans in the works for these guys for a couple years now, and I don't think we can just disregard those plans in favor of whatever here and now pops up in front of us at any given moment. If we were to lock down those two guys, we would have to do something with the other two guys, which would probably mean selling off at least one of them for cheap because there's no room for them anymore, and any guy on the other side of a trade would know that. My point being that, while people simply like to disparage College Boy Harris in general, they like to do so in particular for his apparent planning for top prospects to make their way up through our system and into our starting lineups, because after all, prospects fail all the time, or something. And sure, there's always a chance any prospect will flop. But you can't effectively plan for the future if you're always setting aside any and all prospects in favor of whatever major leaguer comes available. I know that's how Dombrowski did it, and we won some divisions with him and a ****ton of payroll, but that's not the only way to skin the cat, and Dombrowski is, as Ernie would intone were he still here, "looooong gone." I might be on an island here, but I have not concluded that College Boy is a flop. I'm willing to give him the chance to make his plan work, and I'll jump onto the mainland with the rest of you if he ends up spinning his wheels instead of building winners.
