I continue to be knocked out by the idea that so many Tiger fans will be disappointed to see Tarik Skubal suit up in a Tigers uniform on March 26.3 points

It might be less that the government is unable to produce evidence of a deportation order, and more that they believe they don't have to produce a deportation order simply because they're the Trump administration.2 points

Apparently the source on this very distracting story is a lesser-known insider, Marde Wanuel.2 points

I don’t wish harm on anybody but I’ll save my sympathy for someone that deserves it. Sherrone is a total scumbag POS. I feel sorry for his wife and kids.2 points

I will be happy (and I expect him to be Tiger), but I'd like it even better if more talent was added to support him.2 points

A position with THAT level of importance and THAT amount of money and there was NO LEGAL OR HR PEOPLE. Yeah, that department is A-OK !1 point

HR and legal 100% should have been there. It's just another data point that things are not well run in AA.1 point

this offseason has literally gone just as many on this board predicted: Flaherty back (maybe in a surprising way), Torres and Finnegan back, and then a few million pissed away again on a rehab starting pitcher project. Harris is just trolling us with his GM 101 box checking.1 point

The draft lottery has really changed the incentive structure around tanking. The value of draft picks is pretty high at the top of the draft, but the worst teams are not guaranteed to get those picks, and also get blocked out of the lottery if they win too often. The math has changed for the better.1 point

I think the response here is, "Duh." Today's sports news consists of one guy saying "Team X could show interest in Player Y at some point in the future" and then a hundred outlets reporting that as sourced news for clicks.1 point

Yes the stats say it is. Because while yes picking fift hmight mean half with less than a 0 war, but that means half are better. It also means at pick six, seven, eight, 14 that rate goes up even higher. So its 51 percent (just pulling out of my tail for discussion) at pick six that fail, in the aggregate form. The stats say pick as high as possible because that is your best chance to get that team controlled superstar. And the best chance is to pick as high as possible. If you get that superstar its improve your odd of winning in year 5 and 10 and not still be stuck in the mud. And other studies on attendance have show there is really only significant different between massive winning and massive losing. Losing 89 instead of say 96, does almost nothing to improve attendance. The only real attendance swings happen if a team goes from signficant winning to losing in a year or two or visa versa. So its not really losing revenue or interest to say lets lose 106 instead of 99, 91, or 85. But again its just in theory no team or player is actively gonna go try to lose. For me its just an argument of in a lost year I'd rather have hte best odds to get better in the future than win an extra game or two and miss out on that superstar for just some instant gratification that isn't even that cause its still a bad team.1 point

This is the advantage to living in Illinois—they will not simply hand over voters rolls to the regime, which pretty obviously wants to use them to persecute, and perhaps even arrest and prosecute, voters who vote disloyally against the president.1 point

The offense with the Harris pickups is more promising than with the Avila pickups, particularly where strikeout and walk rates are concerned, something I showed in a comparison after the season. I do think other things being equal, the Tigers will get better on offense just by increasing the Harris/Avila player mix.1 point

The Democrats catching Secretary Noem in outright lies was glorious. Showing videos of her blatant lies was perfect. One senator even told her to resign or she was going to be impeached. The democrats will make America great again as soon as they retake power and start impeaching members of this corrupt administration.1 point

So if the median value of a fifth overall pick is zero career WAR, then why was Avila tanking the franchise to get a pick that high in the first place?1 point

Yeah, this is why I think it is weird how a bunch of people are like "everyone, this is very serious, he said he is going to kill himself, lets all pray for this troubled man" He is doing the teenage boyfriend thing when their girlfriend dumps them after 2 weeks of "dating" - "I AM GOING TO KILL MYSELF, I SWEAR!!!!!" Dude is a scumbag. His wife, his victim(s?), his kids are who deserve sympathy here.1 point

On mlb.tv they discussed Tucker. They've been told he is getting offers in the 5-6 year range. They said with the cba uncertainty no teams are going to offer the 10-year contracts. I do think that will affect Skubal. The Dodgers will still do whatever they want and may go 10 with deferrals. But imho this does point to the risk Skubal will take by waiting. If Harris did offer 8/350 now he might consider it. For a pitcher (not counting Ohtani) that's both the highest total and AAV. Ever. To me losing Skubal hits harder than JV. The Tigers had 13 years with him, and it looked like he was in decline. Skubal is prime Randy Johnson level right now.1 point

I will be disappointed if Skubal suits up in a Tigers uniform on March 26 AND the Tigers have done very little to add to the roster. I don't think 2026 Tigers will be significantly better if other pieces aren't added. I expect them to be a fringe playoff team at best. IF the Tigers aren't going to seriously try in 26, then trade him for a load of talent. If they are going to try, then keep him around.1 point

Exactly. It doesn't make sense to not add around Skubal but I guess it's still early in the off season.1 point

Reminders for doctor's appointments. I don't mind a reminder a couple days before or even a text confirming an appointment the day before. I really don't mind having to fill out the questioner before the appointment, it does save time. But the constant reminders on MyChart about the appointment, confirm the appointment, aign. in again and confirm that I confirmed the appointment is a bit too much. I'm 73 not 131 point
