  2. Media sources seem to be constantly mentioning Javy having a bad second half. What seldom seems to be mentioned is how well Javy played in the playoffs. Played all 8 games at SS. led everyday Tigers in hits and average, second in OPS, only 3 strikeouts across 8 games.

  3. That's something that I never understood either. A part of me doesn't want to understand something so ugly and awful.

  5. what's the ibcentive for the players to try hard? the team gets a better draft pick and he comes in and takes my job or reduces my playing time?

  6. Unidentified, masked and illegal thugs going around demanding "papers" from any brown person they come across is Un-American. I just wonder what happened to you in your life that fills you with such hate of minorities? People supporting thus type of behavior just doesn't make sense. Maybe in Russia or Nazi Germany it was the norm, but in America?

  7. Confirmed Detroit Tigers prospects stateside for the 2026 Season: - OF Cris Rodriguez - INF Angel De Los Santos - INF Nestor Miranda - OF Santiago Pinto - RHP Jhonan Coba - LHP Anderson Diaz Obviously CR is the most anticipated but I am interested in De Los Santos as well.

  13. I've always felt there was a fair amount of revisionist history about 2017. I imagine part of it was just that JV wanted (quite properly) to say good things about his new team and team mates - and I don't care what anyone ever says, nobody gets traded from their first team and doesn't have mixed feelings at best about the management they are leaving. The truth was he was already back pretty much to 100% form in Detroit before he left. In his last 11 Tigers starts his era was 2.31, he struck out 84 in 74 IP against only 20BB, and only gave up more than 3 runs once. The idea that he had to get to Houston the figure how to pitch again doesn't really square with the facts. That's not to say Houston wasn't doing a much better job with their analysis, just that that wasn't what made the difference for JV. The real change came in about June while he was still in Det and recovered his old arm angle, which he had gotten away from during the abdominal injury. That brought back the old fastball, and with the better FB, the effectiveness on all his breaking stuff, which he said Houston helped with, went up. But every breaking ball is tougher opposite a better FB.

  14. I mean, it's OK to talk about when the Trump regime loses and falls out of power, and that they will be brought up on Nuremberg-like charges and there will be trials and convictions and punishments and all that. Nothing wrong with talking about it. Just remember that they already know that's a possibility, if not probability, and they can hear us talking about it, and if we think they have no choice but to allow themselves to lose a free and fair election so we can set those events in motion, we're delulu.

  21. I'm not sure how much the city itself matters. I've shared this thought before. During the off season they'll live where they want to live regardless of who they play for. During the season they're gone half the time and the other half they're at the stadium or sleeping. They won't pick one team because of a bar or nightclub they like. I believe there's very few actual "all things being equal" choices faced by these guys. There's always going to be some factor between organizations outside of their geography. The manager, the coaches, the contracts, who else is on the team to compete for time with, the org as a whole.... I'd be curious to know how many established MLB players live in the same city/area in the off season that they play in.

  23. Becoming a consistent playoff team is a process. Getting deeper into the playoffs is not a linear thing though. Having a better team doesn't necessarily mean you'll do better in the playoffs. Even Verlander admitted yesterday that the playoffs are largely a crapshoot. The key is to get there as as often as possible and have more opportunities to win. Having a lot of pitching gives you a better chance, but's is still not a guarantee as exhibited by the Dombrowski era Tigers.

  24. Not "ever" but this off-season. Every time somebody talked about the Tigers signing a good free agent, you said that none of them would sign with the Tigers because they didnt see the Tigers as a winning organization and they'd rather play for big market teams.

  28. We know what’s coming next since they only have one play in their playbook. They will find a single, isolated incident or possibly even make one up. Magnify it 100x into an epidemic of lawlessness that endangers every American. They will pump up how needed ICE was and blame it all on how soft the left is on crime. Just for good measure they will find something to tie it all back to either Biden, Obama, or Clinton’s.

  31. I don't understand how they expect him to get better if he never shoots. He has taken 5 three point attempts in the past 2 1/2 months, or 33 games. You need live attempts to see if the practice is helping or not. I would like to see him start taking 3-4 attempts per game. Yeah, if it's a tie game with 40 seconds left, don't shoot. But there is no reason he couldn't have put up a few threes in the Toronto game. They beat the Knicks by 38, fire up some shots.

  32. Yes, I promise that when a candidate comes out in favor of killing spouses and your spouse gets killed I will defend you. You can book it. Until then, if a candidate promises policies that destroy our democracy and someone doesn't vote for the only other viable candidate because they didn't like a policy that didn't involve killing spouses, but otherwise didn't threaten our democracy, then I will hold them accountable by saying they helped cause the problem.

  33. In the past I would have said no. People can determine which issues are most important to them and vote accordingly. It’s a very personal decision. These are unusual times. Things are so different now that policy which impacts our country, our democracy, our constitution, and ultimately our freedom needs to be the main determinant in voting. Whether you support Israel or Palestine really shouldn’t be a determining factor in the future of America.

  34. Great post. I’ve been thinking this for some time. Our democracy is in jeopardy, yet many people still let what’s happening in Israel determine who gets their vote.

  35. What if you dont want to vote for a politician because they will maintain policies you think make things worse for people you care about? Or is that trumped by some self appointed decider of others' votes decided differently?
