  1. Why are you telling us? Shouldn’t you be yelling at them? Could you go down to the dugout and ask Hinch why he’s starting Johnathan Davis?
  2. He’s on the 40, he’s being used in the IF and OF, so I think they’re considering it. Maybe they should be using Short in CF a bit more to see if he’s a viable RHH CF option if Vierling becomes unavailable. I’m not sure how much, if at all, he’s been in CF. Or maybe they’ve seen enough.
  3. I would say he’s probably a better baseball player right now than Miguel Cabrera because he can play defense, he can run bases, and neither is much of a hitter.
  4. I hate that Stan Van Gundy is one of the TV voices of these games. Nails on chalkboard even if what he says is accurate or makes sense. The only possible value I can see is if he diagrams “form a flippin’ wall” in front of the basket.
  5. Well, there’s that little fact, too.
  6. They may have that younger guy in Lakeland working on drills. Or he might actually be on the bus as a bench player.
  7. OSU put a short guy on Edey during the B10 tourney. They had no choice. They tried to keep Edey away from the basket when he got the pass, but they didn’t really make the entry pass & catch tougher.
  8. They did? I missed that, maybe it was brought up afterwards, but I had flipped to another game by then. Edit to add: You’re absolutely right, I have no idea what’s going on in the mind of these kids. In fairness to him, I’m not trying to kick the kid. I’m sure he feels awful about that play, and he certainly has forgotten more basketball than I’ll ever know. I just genuinely want to know how he saw the play.
  9. It’s an over 2 1/2 hour bus ride to the other coast. Johnathan Davis doesn’t have the resume to avoid this road game.
  10. I wonder if he thought he had a better opportunity of getting that pass to a teammate than happened and/or if he thought enough time had drained off of the clock to where even if the pass was picked off, there's not enough time to return a shot attempt the other. I guess either way, holding the ball and forcing Furman to foul was the better option to take. Purdue and Virginia may have the egg on their faces as 1 seeds losing to 16 seeds, but Virginia did come back the next season to win the championship. Maybe that's the angle Painter & Purdue need to take?
  11. Purdue played scared down the stretch. Nobody wanted to shoot the ball. They struggled getting the ball into Edey where he could be effective. Essentially FDU constantly covered Edey to take away the entry pass with the man guarding him and had someone floating close by to stop him from the backside. FDU played themselves into position to win and one of their better players had to maneuver the last 8(ish) minutes of the game with 4 fouls. It was quite a game to watch.
  12. That's true. The western schools will have an actual ocean close by instead of oceans of wheat & corn fields.
  13. I'm sure FDU took care of that. I think the brackets seem a little on the chalky side after round one, although I could be wrong on that. But even if that is the case that more higher seeds advanced than the odds would suggest, it seemed like there were a lot of close games that came down to the final minutes.
  14. Helluva first round.
  15. That was a fun one to watch if one had a nonPurdue rooting interest.
  16. Volume shooters.

  18. The magic number to clinch 14% odds for the top pick is now 6.
  19. Yeah, I would think that its a combination of rules changes having an effect on the running game. For all of Manfred's warts, I think he deserves credit for putting forth some good rules changes that will benefit the game. And its not just the actual rues changes themselves, but also trying out rules changes in the minors to see how they might play out during a season. So there's the practical application of the rules and seeing what works and what doesn't and what might need to be tweaked. But the younger players in MLB may have already been exposed to these rules, and so they're already in tune with how these rules work.
  20. Is Cisnero bolted down to Detroit?
  21. I thought it was so fans had something to buy tickets for and watch on TV?
  22. Matt Manning on the bump today. He was vocal about the coaching/development changes that have been made with the new front office. He's probably due a good outing to show those changes are benefitting him.
