  1. I'd have to go back and do research on the subject but it doesn't seem like rental prices have changed too drastically in the past 10 years when it comes to pitching whether it be starters or relievers, I think teams still covet that cause the nature of the postseason and the impact they can have on it. OTOH with bats I do think teams realized that its harder for them to make an impact in short series against premium pitching so if they are a rental they aren't going to break the bank for them.
  2. Giolito is also one of those guys that has always seemed to be held in higher regard than his results indicate he should be. Like when he was put on the market I would see headlines that read "Atleast one bonafide ace will be on the market", I mean what makes him a true ace? His career mid 4s era with matching peripherals, his multiple injuries or his notorious inconsistentcy?
  3. I don't think anything major came from it but I remember years ago Arizona got some infraction cause Bill Walton took his son and then Az player Luke along with Luke's friend/teammate Richard Jefferson to an NBA Finals game or something. Supposedly that "gift" was against NCAA rules so that is one of the cases that always sticks out to me when talking about egregious penalties by the NCAA.
  4. It's a small sample but as of now it appears that the Angels atleast got lucky with the Moniak pick up as he has essentially put up Trout like numbers in his absence.
  5. Even resident Harbaugh hater Paul Finebaum said this suspension is absurd and that "the NCAA is a clown show for suspending him for essentially buying a kid a hamburger"(his words). Also prefaced that hell must be frozen over since he is actually sticking up for Jim for a change.
  6. I guess if the Angels making a little run will help them keep Ohtani long term then it will be worth it but if he ends up bolting anyway at the end of the season the way they handled this deadline could be a killer for the franchise going forward. They not only would be losing out on potentially getting multiple high end guys for Ohtani but also lose all the prospects they are trading away by being buyers.
  7. The Free Press or News would post "league leaders" once or twice a week and that's how I got my stats throughout the league. The first time I remember getting updated scores was on Headline News Channel, they were the first to run a live News/sports scroll at the bottom of the screen 24/7,or atleast 1st I was aware of. Then ESPN started doing it too but they only did at 28 and 58 mins after the hour.
  8. Hinch probably should've said that he went with Haase there cause he liked his chances more of "running into one" and ending the game right there vs. Miggy who is basically just a singles hitter at this point. I wouldn't have agreed with that strategy but atleast there would be some reason behind it instead of the bs double switch thing.
  9. One of the side benefits to losing to the Angels is the more they win the less likely they are to sell and if they don't sell that means Ohtani won't be on the market which thins out the potential frontline SP market making ERod and to a lesser extent Lorenzen more attractive.
  10. Im higher on Vierling than most so I may be a little biased but Im confident enough in him that you could plug him as an everyday starter in the corner of and be fine. I see him as a 110ish OPS+ guy with passable defense that isn't going to kill you.
  11. I doubt they walk Cabrera but I guess you never know but assuming they didn't and the main goal was just to drive in the run from 2nd then Id put Haase chances at 15-20% AT BEST where as Cabrera's chances more in the 22 to 27 range and 30% at best so it would've been a relatively big difference.
  12. Since Jake does most of his damage via the long ball it would make sense for him to bat when its more likely guys will be on base so yeah if it was up to me I'd move him up in the order.
  13. Not sure why Miggy wasn't called upon instead Haase, hell I'd feel better about Maton batting lefty on lefty than Haase at this point. I mean Haase has been useless all year but especially useless the past month or so, in July he has a .282 OPS, not a .282 OBP or even slugging but a .282 freaking OPS. Absolutely pathetic!
  14. Damn I thought TOrk had a walkoff bomb at first but I will settle for a 2 run double/error(not sure how they will score it) to tie the game!
  15. If somebody truly believes in Manning going forward then I could see not wanting to trade him and just create a hole in the rotation but like I said before I'm just not that person. To me you're really not creating that big of hole by trading Manning, to me he's a mid to back of the rotation type guy and that's assuming he stays healthy. Even this year where he is supposedly pitching well his peripherals are in the upper 4s or near 5 which is about where I peg him at. So if I can get a potential everyday player that has the possibility to be plus and is under control for awhile I'm doing it.
  16. I would definetly trade Manning for a high level position prospect but I am also a bigger Manning skeptic than most. I just don't see the consistent stuff or command to make him anything more than a mid rotation starter at best when he isn't having BABIP luck. There are games where he flashes premium stuff but they just don't come often enough for me to believe that he can be an All Star level pitcher, unlike say a Skubal.
  17. I don't want to go as far as say Im rooting for the Twins, God knows that would be horrible but I'm at the point where I really don't care if they win since I've pretty much given up on the thought of the Tigers catching them so if it's between them and the Guardians I rather it be the Twins cause I think they have been the better team.
  18. Outside of the game against the Royals I don't think Skubal has given up a run all season including all his rehab starts. I know for sure he hasn't in his other 3 MLB starts but off hand I don't remember him giving up any at all in the minors either. Just been complete domination aside from that one game.
  19. The 2004 Pistons?
  20. Forgot to tag it but I saw a tweet or should I say "x" now that said Bridgewater was in the Lions camp today and their remains interest between the two parties.
  21. Haha I still feel like the ep of Married with Children where Al gets some good luck and it terrifies him cause that only means that something way worse is gonna happen to make up for that.
  22. Given the Lions history he is more likely to need his leg amputated than it be something non serious.
  23. I wonder if the new field turf they installed had anything to do with the injury? Either way though it sucks as he was probably one of if not the best defender we had and he is already gone.
