Yes definitely. Sometimes there could be a bigger difference between say 10 and 12 than 12 and 25. Not just for baseball but all types of rankings or big boards. That's why I do prefer lists that break it down into tiers or put the grade next to the player to give you a better idea of the actual disparity or lack there of between players.

I don't think they are the be all end all cause 100 is an arbitrary cut off, like a player at 120 maybe just as good as the one at 80 but I do think there is some merit to them. It feels like just about all the great young players in baseball we're at one point top 50ish guys, theres some outliers(usually on teams like the Rays) but in general I think that is the case.

Yeah as much as I want to blame Chris for it I think it's just the changing times that is the biggest factor. Tigers game threads still get alot more action than non Lions threads do on here so theres that.

I don't get why people get so upset about us hyping up Lions players anyway. The franchise has been dead in the water for 60 years and we had little to cheer for, we're finally getting some excitement and hope around here even from national folks then when we try to share that excitement some people want to play Debbie Downer or get upset by it. I mean we're long suffering fans God forbid can't we get excited about our players and team on a sports message board without being ridiculed for it. I could see if people were making completely outlandish claims like Goff being on par with Mahomes or the Lions being the best team in the league or even conference but I haven't seen any of that. From what I see is just a few of us bringing up positive stories about the team and players, sure some may be puff pieces but like I said can't we just bask in the excitement of this offseason after decades of being miserable?

Jokic just makes it look so easy. It's like he is sleepwalking out there then you look at the number and he has like 20 and 10 early in the 3rd. As a team the Nuggets are just so good at moving without the ball and cutting and with Jokic and others they always seem to get the ball to those guys in the right spot.

I know I was cautiously optimistic when we got Goff which is one of the reasons why I didn't advocate drafting a QB in 2021. My stance was that Goff wasn't that far removed from being viewed as 1 of the best young QBs in football, much like how Burrow and Herbert are viewed now and maybe a change of scenery/coaching could help bring him back to that point.

That's true but even if it's just health you still have to factor that in and as I mentioned before he has slowly gotten less productive each season since that MVP season. Also no QB outside of Mahomes or Rodgers has had as good of season as that MVP Lamar season so should we just anoint Lamar the 2nd or 3rd best QB in football cause he put up that unbelievable season 4 years ago?

Me personally sometimes I put too much emphasis or atleast remember guys too much of when they are at their very best vs. who they actually are now or most of the time. Like Lamar I think back to how dominant he was in his MVP season and that is what my mind kinda thinks of him as even though he really hasn't been that player in a few years.

Yeah after looking at his numbers the past couple years I may have jumped the gun putting him in tier two. He hasnt really been elite in a few years which is a surprise to me, for some reason I thought he has been better.

Yeah forgot about Lamar, agree he should be in tier 2. Id put Deshaun in tier 3 until he proves that he is all the way back after his suspension.

Id probably put Goff near the top of tier 3 in my rankings. Tier 1 Mahomes Tier 2 Allen Burrow Herbert Hurts Lawrence(Numbers haven't warranted this high of ranking but I believe he is going to break out) Then Id go Tier 3 where you have guys like Goff, Cousins, Stafford, Rodgers and maybe a couple others. But as Goff showed last year he is definitely capable of playing at the tier 2 level so he is right on the edge of it for me.

Goff excelled in virtually every metric, whether it was YPA, air yards per throw, air yards per completion, turnover percentage, qbr etc. Across the board his numbers whether traditional or advanced mirrored Joe Burrow so while I don't think he is the 2nd best qb in the league its not far fetched to say he had the 2nd best season last year. Also I believe WAR takes into account your opponents and Goff played the toughest schedule in football last year and still put up those elite numbers.

I also get a kick out of some of these sites/writers that say he is a product of the talent around him but then you see how low they rank the guys around him and it doesnt add up. For instance PFF didn't have the Lions o line in their top 10, they graded their rbs as only average and only ASRB was graded highly as a receiver. Its like they are talking out of both sides of their mouth, you rank his supporting cast as middle of the pack when grading them but then downplay Goff by saying the cast is great. Which one is it? Btw according to QB WAR Goff only trailed Mahomes last season so he was far more than thy game manager that some describe him as.

Not a member so I don't know the whole list but Id imagine/fear that he is our only guy in the top 100. Flores was there preseason but with the way he has looked I can't imagine he still is and aside from him the only possibilities that come to mind are Madden or Dingler.

You look at Texas who just 2 years were picking ahead of us and now is arguably the best team in baseball and it pisses you off knowing with the right management/ownership that couldve been us.

The TV ratings for Game 1 and 2 are virtually identical to last years that featured the Warriors and Celtics so despite not having the sexiest of matchups in terms of franchise cache it hasn't effected ratings thus far.
