Jesus they are talking to Eric Haase live in the outfield? Is this new or have they been doing it all year? Seems pretty distracting like C-Mo is literally asking him questions while the pitch is being thrown. -

Just turning it on and it's 1-0 Texas in the bottom of the 2nd. Tigers get the first 2 runners aboard via walks and Schoop tries to do a Miggy but Semien bobbles the exchange so the Rangers only get the out at 2nd and the Tigers have guys at the corners with 1 out. And as I type this Miggy himself DOESN'T pull a Miggy either but instead hits the Sac Fly to tie things up at 1. -

But of course! Lets hope it's just the finger and it heels quickly and most importantly doesn't have any lasting effects on his performance. -
Kiley McDaniel put out his first mock and he has us taking Langford with Clark and Crews going 1-2 respectively. Also mentions how we have been scouting and connected to Va Tech catcher Kyle Teel and in the event that Crews and Langford go 1-2 that Teel will probably be the guy if we elect to go the more advanced college bat route.

You also have to give credit to both teams front offices for finding either cast off players that they knew could fit with them and their schemes(reminds me of the going to work Pistons) and drafting or signing udfas that they thought they could potentially mold or get use out of. In Miami's case it seems like instead of going after young players with high upsides like most teams do they went after older college players who may not have the raw athleticism or upside but are mature, smart and can fit a particular role.

Yeah to me I never understood the playing closer to home aspect when it came to pro athletes. Unless you are actually playing at or in the surrounding area of your home then to me it really wouldn't make much difference whether you're a 5 hour car ride or 20 hour cause the likelihood you're going to find the time to do either during the season is minimal. You could argue it makes it easier for your family to come see you and there is some merit to that but when you have the financial means that these guys have its not hard for them to fly their fam into wherever they are playing anytime the fam wants to come see you. -
I didn't read it yet but I saw one where the headline said something like "Hutchinson adds 15lbs of muscle, grows hair out." The last part was the important thing to me, I mean I'm gonna root for him anyway but he takes a few steps down if he has his hair long. In general I'm not against it really but I hate seeing it hang out of football players helmets particularly if its blonde/light brown, reminds me of Clay Matthews and AJ Hawk which isn't a good thing.

As if Ibanez 1 for 40 wasnt bad enough the only time he reached safely outside of that hit was a HBP. Atleast when Chris Davis had that legendary hitless streak a few years back he was atleast drawing some walks but not Ibanez. Id have to imagine him only producing a single and HBP in his last 41 PAs maybe one of the handful or so least productive stretches of that amount of PAs in baseball history among non pitchers. -
I cant believe Milton is still in college, it feels like he was at UM under the Hoke administration.

This puts a smile on my face despite it being an early morning at work after a long weekend.

It would be nice to get atleast 1 real slugger in the lineup, the prototypical 30HR type guy. I love the how they are drawing walks but drawing a ton of walks with no power limits your potential run output no matter how many walks and singles you hit. -
This is hilarious! BTW does anybody know what breed of dog that is cause I totally want one now.

I'm just turning on the game so I have no idea how Boyd actually looked last inning but it appears that Hinch may have gotten a little greedy trying to squeeze an extra inning out of Boyd there. -

Harris was in a bit of a tough spot this past offseason, you figured we weren't as bad as our record was last year but at the same time you didn't know for sure nor know how much better we might be so it was hard to gauge whether we should possibly sell off whatever assets we had or spend money trying to compete. Harris played it cautiously and probably correctly by not making any major franchise altering moves but instead electing to just make minor moves with high upside like trading off relievers for potential everyday players. I think he took this year to gauge what players he wants to keep going forward and to see whether 2022 was just a completely unlucky year or if that was the type of roster we really have. Assuming we play like this for the whole year I'd imagine that he will probably be more active this offseason if there are players available that could help take the team to another level. -
What are the most favrable surprises so far?
RandyMarsh replied to HeyAbbott's topic in Detroit Tigers
I kinda figured the ALC would suck, maybe not this bad but knew it was going to be poor but still you would've figured atleast one team would've broken out and 1st place wouldn't only be 1 game over .500. Of course the Twins pythag says they should be lucky so they may not be as bad as their record indicates. -

Yeah I'd have to agree with your choices, yeah the Tigers came out and said controlling the zone is something that they were going to prioritize but saying it and doing it are two different things and I was skeptical that they were going to actually do it or turn it around, atleast as quickly as they have. I also concur about the bullpen, I figured Lange was going to be a safe bet but outside of him I really wasn't sure what to expect after losing a few of our better relievers from last year but for the most part they have been excellent. Have had a couple rough outings here and there but that is to be expected, overall they have more than held their own. As far as players go it's definitely got to be McKinstrey, E-Rod and Lorenzen for me. I was skeptical of E-Rod after last year, I kinda thought he was going to be another Zimmermann but it appears that I may have underestimated the impact of whatever was happening in his personal life last year made on his performance. Baddoo has been another pleasant surprise, I didn't give up on him entirely but after last year if I were to bet on it I would've bet on him just being minor league fodder/AAAA type player the rest of his career but he's been much more than that thus far. As an added bonus he's starting to hit for the power that he showed in early 2021 the past week or so. -
The A's could throw 20 straight shutouts and there'd be a decent chance they still be last in the league in runs allowed after it was over with.

Or there really is some truth to the Brady rumors.

The Tigers finally get back to that elusive 1 game under .500 mark! I believe they were 0-7 before this in games where they could have reached it. -

Riley Greene effect! -
Trei Cruz just hit his 7th bomb of the year and now has a .908 OPS in Erie. Is he somebody to keep an eye on or is it too late? He'll be 25 in July.
-
Show him our defensive stats from the last 10 games("forget" to show Carolina game) and then introduce him to Jack Campbell, that should be enough to convince him that our defense will be great.

Rivals and 247 now have number 1 ranked 2024 RB Taylor Tatum as 100% Michigan. They already got the number 8 RB in Marshall so getting them both will be huge come 2024 when we lose Corum and in all likelihood Edwards to the draft.
