Not a bad 1st inning for Colt! I'd imagine there haven't been many players in baseball history that have hit a HR and a triple in the 1st inning.

On the surface the Martin pick looks like a reach but its lazy to just look at where a guy is ranked and then presume he should be picked at that spot. Yes overall Martin may have been ranked where he was but the Lions didn't go after him for his overall grade they went after him for a specific skill set that he brings to the table and excels at so in that regard his overall grade is almost irrelevant to them. If you're the Lions you don't want to take the chance that another team has that same thought process which is why they may have taken him a bit early but again better to take a guy too early than not get him at all.

Uh oh, our big rival the Pirates coming to town, definitely a must win series! -
It's kinda a double edged sword coaching for a contending team, yeah it's cool to be competing for a championship and having good players to coach but if you don't win the whole thing you very well could be screwed. Atleast when you take over a team like the Pistons you know you're probably getting atleast a few years of security and if you do end up actually winning you can basically name your own price when it comes to getting a raise.

Theres always the hope that Scoot can develop an outside shot, theres been a few example of guys lately who couldn't shoot coming into the league but ended up developing the outside shot.

If we get the number 1 pick Victor will be Greg Oden if we don't he will be a taller and longer Giannis.

Ultimately getting the guys you want and target is the most important part of drafting. If you end up "reaching"(put it in quotes cause it's only a reach based off somebody elses board) then oh well, its better than missing out on the player you want and settling for less just because you were afraid you weren't getting good value there. With that said I do question the sincerity of the quote only because with all the extra capital that the Lions had it doesn't strike me as a Holmes move to sit and wait and hope they fall to you if they truly had first round grades and 2 of their top 14 prospects in Branch and Laporta. Idk I guess there is the possibility that they did try to move back into the 1st for one or both of them but the price was too high in their eyes.

I just wonder if you want to go out and watch the game at a bar/restaurant if they all are going to have Prime and Peacock.

I thought for sure he was going to Nebraska or USC to be with the QB whisperer Lincoln Riley, I evidently underestimated the money that Georgia could throw around though.
-
If he just said "I must be better, we all must be better" and left it at that then there would be no issue but adding in the part about how it's supposed to be 5 on 5 but him and Harden are doing it alone completely negates everything he said before.

Yeah I don't care if you're the MVP or not that is a total bs statement to make, I don't care if that is what you really think you don't go publicly throwing your team under the bus.

Lange made it a little interesting but ultimately he K's Hernandez to give the Tigers the W and avoid the sweep. -

Shreve with an easy 1-2-3 8th to keep the Tigers up 5-3. -
All I can think of is the Dumb and Dumber quote "Just when I thought you couldn't get any dumber you go and do something like this." of course unlike Lloyd Ja didn't redeem himself with this move.

I keep forgetting about Carpenter and yeah it will be nice to get him back. He might as well be Babe Ruth compared to the schlubs we been throwing out there. -
Yeah I don't really care too much about the service time thing, 6 years is a long time so I'm more focused on what can help the team win at the moment vs. that far down the road especially since majority of the time you're either going to sign an extension before it gets to that point or they are going to flame out and you're not going to want to keep them anyway.

Since I'm younger I only knew of Coles from his second stint, and even then the only thing that stood out to me as a kid was that he shared the same name as the department store that my Mom was in love with(Kohls), of course at the time I didn't realize that they were spelled different. -

Suns fired Monty Williams. Not sure if he'd be on the Pistons radar but he is black so there is a chance.

I wonder if the laymen fan really knows what a good and bad OPS is by this point? Like everybody knows what a good BA is(even though that threshold has been getting lower and lower in recent years) but they may not know with OPS so if they see the 500 and 600s they may not realize that it's below average where as you can't hide that with BAs in the 100s and low 200s. -

I still like Petry the best for TV. Even though he's an "old timer" I think he brings modern ways of thinking to the broadcast and doesn't just rely on "back in my day" like Morris does. Also seems to have the best chemistry with Shep(who for better or worse we're stuck with) and knows when to talk and when to shut up. -

I'll give him a pass since it was his first TV game but from what I watched I didn't really like him. As you said he was very chatty which turned me off, it felt like he wouldn't shut up which was especially annoying in a game where the Tigers were getting crushed. IDK it was his first game so hopefully he'll learn from that. On a side note Tigers legend Andy Dirks just tweeted that he will be in the radio booth with Dan today. -
As expected Smith is now officially gone from the Vikings.

Boyd didn't even make it to Memorial Day this year before his annual meltdown started.
