The Wordle (and such) Thread

Wordle 375 6/6 ⬜⬜🟨⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ ⬜🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Haven't played in a couple months so perhaps I was rusty but that was a tough one for me, just barely pulled it out of my ass at the end. -
Would put nothing passed him at this point. He just got done spinning another gem against the Mets today going 8 innings of 2 hit 0 run baseball, lowers his ERA to 2.02 on the season to go along with a .83 WHIP. Doesn't have the top end on his FB like he used to but still is averaging 95mph on it and can top out at 98 to go along with 90% spin rate. Just a freak of nature.

It would've been nice to get the 1st back from the Stewart trade that NYk now owns, its lottery protected so good chance we will still get it next draft but just incase we sneak in as a 7 or 8 seed it would be good to have.

I may be late to the party but I just heard for the first time on the radio this morning that Meadows now has not one but two achilles strains. Jesus is that trade cursed.

I really like getting Burks, I feel they were going to be in the market for a guy like that in FA anyway so being able to get him at only 10 million with a team option after this year is a win.

Kiley McDaniel of ESPN now has us taking Connor Priellp(sp?) Lhp from University of Alabama. Kiley notes that from everything he has heard we are essentially exclusively looking at college players for our first pick.

Also assuming we keep Noel and resign Bagley I think it's basically a sure thing that this will essentially be a red shirt year for Duren which is fine with me. Let him get accumulated to the NBA life and perhaps spend the year refining parts of his game that you want him to work on and not worry about doing so in the pressures of an NBA game.
-
I like getting Burks and to some extent Noel but it seems like we could've atleast squeezed a 1st out of NY if we pushed hard enough considering how desperate they are to clear money.

Now official with Hami, still nothing official with Frank but its sounding like it's going to be declined.

I believe this is our first trip to SF since the 2012 World Series.

Tigers killer Carlos Santana traded from the Royals to Mariners. Not sure how many times we have the Mariners left but I'm sure it's alot less than the Royals so that's a good thing.

Sounds like the Pistons are picking up Dialo's option and turning down Frank Jackson's.

We may not even have the worst medical staff in our division.

Theres been a few guys that werent on the radar coming into the season or seen as fringe prospects that have had good seasons so Im looking forward to seeing the midseason lists from the various websites and our local writers to see if any opinions have changed about them.

My biggest concern with Paredes was always the power aspect and the fact that he was already filled into his body I just didn't think it would ever come regardless of what his age was. If he was a big framed but skinny guy at 20 or 21 with no power you could project him filling out, getting stronger and thus hitting for power but Paredes didnt offer that projectibility so the fact he couldn't hit for power now just came across like it wasn't gonna be there. I still believeThere has to be some change to his approach or swing plane for him to magically go from a hitter with no power to suddenly crushing the ball in under a year with no body change. You don't just magically get stronger from 22 to 23. Like he may have had this untapped power the whole time but the Tigers preached plate discipline, taking pitches, putting the ball in play etc.which hindered his power ability but TB is telling him to just let it go and to jump on pitches at the expense of maybe making outs or swinging and missing.

I forgot to point it out on draft night but one thing I noticed about Ivey is he is taller than I expected. I gauge this by seeing his height when standing next to Adam Silver. I like to use this measurement to gauge a player's actual height that wasn't listed at the combine and if you look at Ivey with Silver there wasn't a whole lot of difference then there was with Ben Mathurin with him who was taken right after him and was listed 2 inches taller. Using the Silver comparison I saw may be a half inch to inch at most. After I noticed that, out of curiosity I went and compared it to Ja Morant and Jaylen Brown as well since I seen multiple people use the Tatum/Brown comparison for what Cade and Ivey could potentially be and the comparisons between him and Ja have been beaten to death. I saw little difference between him and Jaylen, maybe an inch at most in Brown's favor. Jaden appeared probably 2 inches taller than Ja cause Ja was shorter than Silver where as Jaden was a little taller than him. Now granted this isn't an exact science since we don't know the exact footwear everybody was wearing and sometimes pictures can be deceiving but it does give you a rough estimate of a player's true height and judging by this Ivey is maybe an inch or 2 taller than I thought he may have been which is obviously a good thing. He was listed at 6'4 and usually a player is a couple inches shorter than their listed height so that was what I was kinda expecting but Ivey appears to be closer to being legit 6'4 without shoes so the listed height may be one of the rare ones that is indeed accurate. I think he just appeared shorter watching him at Purdue cause Purdue was a bit of a throwback team in regards to the fact that they still rostered a bunch of taller players, particularly by college basketball standards.

That wasn't one of those great diving catches that is in result of the CF getting a bad jump or taking a bad route which forces them to dive, Greene got as good of jump as he could, took the right route and it still took a full extension dive to make the play. Statcast says that's a hit 90% of the time.

Yeah Riley is pretty good out there in center.

Funny you mention Portis cause I was gonna bring him up earlier when I brought up Harris. I really like his game but I wasn't sure how he would fit with us. I'm sure we could find a use for him anyway so I'd be cool with bringing him in.
-
I really liked what I saw with Bagley in the limited time he was here. I agree that we don't have to resign him but I really hope we do. Cade and the Pistons offense and team in general seemed to play a lot better once he arrived. He was a great rim runner for Cade and also did a great job on put backs cleaning up any missed shots from around the basket.

BTW just a reminder the game is on Apple TV tonight and not Bally's.

Could Gary Harris be a potential option for us if we don't want to splurge on any of the big money players? Still only 27 and is coming off a season where he shot 39% from deep.
