03/27/2022 03:30 EST New York Knicks @ Detroit Pistons

It is pretty crazy that the Knicks have only won one playoff series since 2000 and only have one 50 win season since then as well. -
Of course if you're of the belief that the team can win with Goff if we put enough talent around him so no need to draft a qb then having 2 top 6 picks and 4 in the top 34 would be awfully appealing. Adding for instance Thibs/Walker/Hamilton, Drake London and whoever you prefer at 32 and 34 could really transform this team.

Would they settle for the Rams pick? lol I might be willing to trade our own pick if I knew we were going to take Willis at 2 or the Giants pick. Reason being is that if that were the case then we wouldn't be in the market for a QB next draft so I wouldn't be as concerned with not having our own pick. If we made the trade and didn't take Willis then come next draft we would still be without a future QB and with us only having the Rams pick which will likely be at the end of the 1st we would have a hard time being able to draft that guy next year either.

Brusdar Graterol from the Dodgers would fit that role to a T. Was highly touted as a prospect, Routinely goes over 100mph, has some control problems(3.5BB/9) and most importantly is plump with room to grow. Don't think the Dodgers are interested in trading him, particularly since Jansen left them but if Avila is serious about filling that important void he should see what it would take to get him.

I saw a stat that somebody posted on a page I follow on FB that said Pistons are shooting 29% on "good looks"(don't know what that classifies as) from 3 off of Cade's passes. Not sure what the league average is on "good looks" but let's conservatively say 35%, how many assists is he being robbed of by poor shooting? -
It is a time honored tradition that the Tigers have a thicc reliever in their bullpen so not having one creates a major void. Cisnero is listed at 260 so perhaps he can start rooming with Paredes and try to get himself up to 280ish so he could fill that spot.

Washington hangs on for the 100-97 win. Cade with 22pts(11-22FG no FT attempts), 9 assists and 7 boards. Bagley with 25 and 5 boards. I watched the last quarter and a half and it was an entertaining game but Pistons were ultimately undone by their outside shooting, 6-32 on the night including McGruder going 1-12. Cade hit a couple clutch mid range jumpers in the last minute but forced an awkward shot at the rim in the 2nd to last possession and missed. Probably should've pulled it back out or passed instead of forcing that but oh well it happens. Porzingis looked like his 2016 self and killed us. -
https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/33546525/2022-nba-mock-draft-how-top-prospects-fared-ncaa-men-basketball-tournament Espn's latest mock, has us taking Keegan Murray from Iowa with the 5th pick. They based the order on bpi rankings that's why we picked 5th. They had Chet, Smith, Paulo and Ivey going 1-4.

Yeah Tavai not having a package was hilarious, I also remember that happening to Gerald Alexander the safety out of Boise St. we drafted way back when. I think he either went in the 2nd or early 3rd and the hosts were like "were gonna try to get you more information on the pick but we werent expecting him to be drafted so early. "

Ill never forget the 08 draft, me and my roommates were throwing one last big party up in CMU before we left so like 30 of us were day drinking watching the draft. Cherilus gets picked and I believe it was Kiper who said something like "wow I had him as a 3rd round grade", that quote remains an inside joke among us during our fantasy drafts. Anytime somebody reaches for a player one of us will say "wow I had as a (insert later round) grade" Btw on the subject of Teez, yeah we know about his 40 but was that the reason he sucked? I only watched him a couple times and the times I watched him he was staying with the receiver he just couldn't make any plays on the ball.

Baddoo turns into Babe Ruth in the Spring. After torching the ball last spring as well he had that torrid first week and a half to the regular season only to struggle mightily till about Mid May before perking up again in the 2nd half. Hopefully this year he not only tops his overall numbers from last year but does it in a more consistent manner.

I don't remember if there were any elite bigs in it, I imagine there were but I thought I remember reading about him dominating that big global tournament over the summer of kids under 20?(I believe that was the age group)

Death, taxes, atleast 1 of the Castrai in the lineup.

Not sure if it was mentioned elsewhere but our old friend Andrew Miller retired, Maybin retired earlier this offseason as well so that makes Miggy the last man standing from that trade.

Now that it appears that the Pistons have a franchise guy in Cade, does that mean that they should play it safe in the draft and insure they get a guy that can help Cade and take a guy that may not have as high of ceiling but has a high floor and a relatively good chance of hitting his ceiling or do you go the other route and swing for the fences and go with a high ceiling high volatility guy with the mindset that if you whiff it's not that damaging since you have already have a young superstar anyway?

That 2018 draft is a painful reminder of just how tough it is to find and draft the right qb. Some pundits were hyping it to the 83 draft in terms of qbs and so far it produced 2 huge busts in Darnold and Rosen and a mini bust on his way to being a true bust in Mayfield. On a positive note it did produce two All Pros in Allen and Jackson but even Jackson wasn't really seen as the top tier heading in so out of the 4 guys that were 3 ended up busts.

God do I hope his fabled splitter is back.

The ESPN guys of Kiper, McShay, Miller and Jordan Reid came out with their latest positional and overall rankings, Hutch and Hamilton are the consensus 1 and 2. Nothing really of note other then they all still have Ojabo as the top olb and all say they expect him to still go in the 1st round or early 2nd at the latest so if they are to be believed any thoughts of him slipping till the 3rd to us isn't going to happen.

I think the Tigers still have dreams of Willi returning to his COVID shorten season form and they will give him every opportunity to do so but I think time may be running out in him. You could understand last year when they were throwing out the likes of Harold and Zack Short but with Baez in tow and Schoop back at 2nd there's really no need or place for him on the team.
-
I agree, while unlikely Thibs is the one guy who I think has atleast a slim chance of being Myles Garrett or Myles Garrett light. He certainly has some risk but I wouldn't be against picking him and hoping MCDC and company get the most out of him.

I always thought teams were too protective of draft picks before but now it appears the pendulum has swung to the other extreme. People will look at the Rams but they were smart about who they used the picks on. First even though Goff wasn't everything they hoped for there is nothing wrong with using capital to make sure you get the qb you want most in the draft, which is what they did. They then used 2 1sts on the defacto number 1 cb in the game while he was still young. Again at the stage they were in nothing wrong with that. Of course we all know about the Stafford trade, using 1sts to get a premium qb in his prime is perfectly ok and finally they traded some picks for the best available pass rusher Von Miller. They were smart and calculated about their picks, they didn't just dump picks for guys when they were years away from being SB contenders or for guys that were about to fall off a cliff performance wise.

03/23/2022 07:00 EST Atlanta Hawks @ Detroit Pistons
RandyMarsh replied to casimir's topic in Detroit Pistons
Pistons beat the Hawks 122-101. Didn't get a chance to watch this one but judging by the box score it looks like Cade made a helluva impact. His 17(7-12FG) 8 and 6 line looks modest enough but the Pistons outscored the Hawks by a whopping 43 points in the 35 minutes he was on the court. In the 13 minutes he was on the bench the Hawks outscored them by 22 points. Just an unbelievable difference. -
You can say the same thing about a pass rusher, if the pass rusher is merely just a good rusher he's not going to live up to the pick, he's got to be atleast in the league of the Bosa brothers or else he's going to be seen as a disappointment. If he merely produces at a Romeo Okwara type level of 10 or so sacks a year most would say he didn't live up to the hype. Basically any player you draft at number 2 you a hope will play at an all pro level or at the very least pro bowl level and out of all the guys in the draft I think Hamilton has the best chance to do that.
