  1. If he really was there's a good chance it was the Sr. Adduci's. But even Starsky and Hutch wouldn't be good enough to get to him.
  2. These prospects spend several weeks pre combine working with trainers that specialize in workouts to maximize their 40 times, so if London has been unable to workout with the same intensity as others his numbers will come across comparably slow so that could be why he isn't participating.
  3. I don't think people watch much baseball anymore period outside of hardcores or cities that have teams in contention.
  4. Kiper's latest mock has Jameson Williams falling to I believe 27 or 28. If he's still there at that point I would seriously consider trading up to insure him. It would obviously depend on the price and how the board shakes out(If there are multiple WR you like still available you may just want to take your chances one of them is there at 32/34) but if that's not the case and the price isn't too steep I think it would be wise to do it. Williams is a legit playmaker that can have a major impact on this offense.
  5. It did take a couple years though if memory serves me right but I do think the numbers being down was more due to Jordan retiring and the Bulls super team dissolving than people leaving due to the lockout.
  6. Aside from the steroids I think MLB also benefited by the NBA lockout and Jordan's 2nd retirement. NBA ratings and interest took a nosedive after the 98 season due to those two things. Yeah it's true that the NBA only runs directly with MLB for a few months but I think the reasons I mentioned helped keep the fans that got back into baseball from the HR chase.
  7. Well atleast there's minor league baseball to follow.
  8. Not so much to do with the lockout but I do find it funny that the same writers that for years mocked the teams that signed free agents even though they weren't going to be contenders now complain that those same type teams won't open up the wallet and overpay for FAs. I guess they're just trying to get in the good graces of the players or something.
  9. The Magic look like they are about to win tonight and it's only been 3 quarters but Markelle Fultz looks like a completely different player in his return and appears to look a lot closer to the player that went number 1. If this new found game of his is legit the Magic could look alot better down the stretch and pass us.
  10. If they got it I was hoping they would be able to do what some other cities did and set up a spot downtown outdoors so you could get the spectacle of all the fans lining the streets.
  11. I'm sure the owners don't mind missing that first month when outside of Opening Day attendance figures are usually always relatively low. Particularly in all the cold weather cities.
  12. BTW even though we have the 2nd pick and 2 first rounders for the first time Im just not looking forward to the draft as much as I have the last couple years. Like last year there were a bunch of different scenarios that were possible and excited me. Were we gonna take the top flight pass catcher in Pitts, Chase, Smith or Waddle? Would we take Lance or Fields if they fall, would we trade down and get a bounty if one were to fall, would we go with the top defender(most thought Parsons at this time) or the thing that eventually happened with Sewell. In the previous draft we speculated if we would go Okudah, Brown,Simmons or if we were lucky if we could get bounty from a team that wanted to trade up for Tua. The scenarios this year just don't excite me.
  13. That would be awesome but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I wonder where in the city they would hold it at if they did pick Detroit? I suppose they could just do Ford Field but for the previous cities it looked like they set up something in the city instead.
  14. I went through a few of the schools in the district I work for and not counting the special needs kids and teachers who were all still wearing their masks, Id say maybe at most about 10% of the staff and students were masked.
  15. Assuming no trades at this point I hope it's Hutch, one of the top tier WRs(as of now I have that number at 6), if you can't get that tier than Id like to double up on another pass rusher.
  16. I think if Baez defense is plus and he hits for his usually HR power I think the positive effect he has on the Tigers will be more than what his WAR suggests. The reason I feel that way is the outs he save should theoretically allow our young pitchers to go deeper in games which translate to allotting more time to them and less to our suspect middle and possible late relief. Also I feel that his HR power will be sorely needed on this team, we have quite a few guys who can get on base at a decent clip but really nobody you can pencil in for 25+HRs or even 20 for that matter. Perhaps Greene and Tork could also help there but its hard to say for sure how they will fair their first season. So while he may turn out to be only a 3 WAR due to his OBP I think he will end up being worth more than 3 games in the standings.
  17. Makes me sad knowing that the Tigers would be playing the Nationals right now if it weren't for the lockout.
  18. Another memorable relief performance for me. Was actually in attendance for this one, was a few rows back down the 3rd baseline about half way between 3rd and the foul pole. From my vantage point when that last ball was hit I thought it was gonna be a bases clearing hit.
  19. It's not one moment per se but this relief appearance will stick with me forever. So dominant.
  20. Yeah that was probably the most electric atmosphere I got to experience there. I don't remember much about it other than Sosa. At that time I paid no attention to our draft picks or prospects so I probably didn't even realize who Matt Anderson was. Another memorable game that came to mind that I went to there was a Sunday Night Baseball game against the White Sox. Nothing memorable about the actual game it self but a couple experiences I had there made it memorable to me. One was before the game my brothers and I were walking around that little concourse thing outside the stadium(can't remember what it was called) and outside a door which I assume must of been the visitors clubhouse was Ozzie Guillen in full uniform chilling on a folding chair smoking a cigarette. We went up to him and he gave us his autograph. Another memorable thing was Frank Thomas coming over and talking to us while he was in the on deck circle.
  21. I went a bunch in the mid 90s when I was a young teen, one of my Step Dad's clients had season tickets like 4 or 5 rows behind home plate, just a little towards the visitors dugout. Great seats but me and my brothers would usually just wander around the stadium since at that point the teams were terrible so we'd just venture to different spots to try to get a foul ball. Probably went 20 or so times a year for those few years. The last few years it was open I only went to a few games that I can remember, the two that stick out was in June of 98 against the Cubs when Sosa was on fire. The other was in I believe late July or early August of 99 against the Mariners who were my bandwagon team at the time. Griffey made the most spectacular catch I've ever seen live robbing Luis Gonzalez of a HR. I wish I could've experienced though as an adult and in a playoff atmosphere though.
  22. I don't know about a 3rd but I think I'd do a 4th for him, I think at that point any potential problems he may have is worth the risk.
  23. I don't love the expanded playoffs idea but I don't hate it. Yeah there's a real possibility some 85-90 win team ends up winning the World Series but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to deal with in exchange for more teams and markets playing meaningful games down the stretch. Also short of going back to the days where there was just a World Series there is going to be a very real chance that the overall best team isn't going to win the championship regardless of the number of teams.
