  1. I played double dribble non stop as a kid and I never knew about the glitch until seeing the Family Guy episode. I was only 7 or 8 when I was most into it though, was it really a well known thing like say the Konami or Mike Tysons punchout code?
  2. Skubal has given up 4 base runners or less in 8 out of his last 10 starts and in half of them 3 or less. Has a WHIP of .58 in that time.
  3. Random Skubal tidbit, since his return in July of 2023 he has faced roughly 250 lefties, he's given up a total of 4 extra base hits against them and none this year. Mind boggling!
  4. Yesterday was the only time in the last 15 games they got Bert's 6 runs or more, in the prior 33 games they did it 22 times.
  5. As an MLB hitter going from Skubal to Brieske is about the best outcome you could possibly hope for. Ball probably looks like a beach ball relatively speaking.
  6. Sounds like Skubal's day is done, that now makes 89Ks to 3 walks his last 10 starts. Ungodly!
  7. I think it either has to be home grown or players acquired through trades via home grown players. You can't expect to build a team via free agency.
  8. I'm not necessarily saying the Central is better than East but to add to your post your buddy isn't the only one that lazily says things like this, I heard the national media say things similar about all central teams and how their record wouldn't be what it was if it was in the East. But here's the thing the Tigers are 10-2 against the East, Twins 9-3, Guardians 6-6, Royals 8-7 and White Sox 3-5 so collectively they have more than held their own against them thus far.
  9. Tigers are now 22-17 against teams over .500, only the Yankees have a better record. Also only 3 teams in all the majors have played more games against such opponents than the Tigers.
  10. They also get a watch with their most tenured teams logo on it.
  11. Just to add to this, Liranzo was in his "dropped out of the top 50" category and the reason he gave was that he has struggled with offspeed stuff thus far in Erie.
  12. There have probably been teams with worse overall records than the Rockies over the course of the past 10-15 years but I don't think any team has felt less relevant than them. Like other teams that have sucked atleast may have had a star player or hot shot prospect(s) to excite them but that hasn't been the case with Colorado. I don't think anybody has cared about them since Matt Holiday was roaming the field and he has a kid playing in the league now just to show how long ago it was.
  13. I think it's fair to say that on an individual basis the Yankees have the better players so in turn are the better team. With that said IDK maybe I just have recency bias and am jaded cause it goes against everything I've believed in for the better part of 20 years but having Hinch and our coaching on our side even things up for us against teams that look superior on paper. I just believe he knows how to maximize his players strengths and in turn get every last run he could squeeze out of them and the team. Where as other teams that have superior players don't always seem to do that in my eyes.
  14. Law had us taking Quick and even speculated that he could potentially help us in the bullpen THIS year if we were inclined to go that route.
  15. It was only for 1 year but 2011 the Lions and Tigers were both good. I remember when the 5-0 Lions played on Monday Night Football while the Tigers played in the ALCS across the street.
  16. Granted progression isn't guaranteed but it's hopeful and the fact is the Lions more than likely will get improvement from within due to having such a young team. People often forget just how many young players the Lions have and played last year. Damn near half their defense was from guys in their first or 2nd year, many of whom namely Arnold and Campbell looked to be playing better as the year went on so good chance they continue that next year.
  17. Unlike other sports most notably basketball you don't need stars to win championships in baseball. Just in the past 15 years you had those aforementioned Giants teams(Posey played like a offensive superstar in 2012 so I won't count that one) along with the Royals, Cardinals and Rangers just to name a few. That's about half the championships being won by teams without a true offensive superstar.
  18. Like I said before I'm not gonna get excited about Pacheco until I see him perform at Erie or I see a reason to be optimistic from a reputable outside source. But just putting up good numbers in his 3rd stint in High A isn't going to do it for me. /debbiedowner
  19. I'd definitely feel alot better about this team if we had a couple more reliable relievers with atleast 1 of them being of the true shutdown variety. Hopefully we'll find one at the deadline or get lucky and strike gold in that regard with somebody in the system.
  20. Guardians looking like they're gonna lose to the Dodgers, down 6 in the bottom of the 9th. Last 3 days we picked up the 3 games we lost on them Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
  21. Find you somebody that talks about you like Tater does Hendrickson.
  22. I know there are other explanations for this most notably wind but I have noticed this all season and that is that the statcast numbers for distance always seem higher than what the actual distance appears which would indicate that the ball may have more drag to it this year.
  23. Royals lose to the Reds and Guardians down 2-0 early to the Dodgers with Yamamoto on the mound.
  24. One thing Pitt doe deserve credit for in regards to Skenes is not making him toil away in the minors for a year or so in the name of "development" like some teams do just to manipulate service time. Of course if you plan on trading him before he gets expensive I suppose that doesn't really matter all that much.
