  1. Still love the signing either way but just curious does this signing prevent us from receiving any possible compensation for Jackson and/or CJGJ?
  2. I'd like to get 1 more safety for depth and Reynolds or a replacement for him but I don't think either are dire needs.
  3. Btw the Lions restructured Carlton Davis contract by turning some of it into a signing bonus. His cap hit now is a little over 9 million this year so it freed up about 5 million.
  4. Not to be a pessimist but recent mlb history suggests that by May 1st atleast 1 of the Tigers starters will either go down with an injury or be ineffective to the point that they need to be replaced so this sorta log jam will probably work itself out in due time.
  5. If they never drafted Fields and still finished dead last in 2022 then they very likely would've stayed put at number 1 in 2023 and taken 1 of the QBs. If it was Stroud then things would've turned out fine(assuming he turns out the same with Chicago) but if they'd taken Young then they'd be much worse off then they are now. Having the promise of Fields allowed them to net their own Hershel Walkeresque trade so in the long run I guess you could say Fields was a net win for them.
  6. I wouldve traded a 6th for Fields, he couldve provided some insurance incase Montgomery or Gibbs go down.
  7. Leonard with a triple and a homer thus far today raising his spring ops to over 1.100. Of course the question on him will be his defense and where he plays but sooner or later I think you have to give him some run at the big leagues just to see whats there, same with Malloy. Can't keep them in the minors forever hoping their glove gets better.
  8. Wilmer Flores touched 99.5 in his scoreless inning of play today. A bounce back season from him would be a welcome sight for sure.
  9. One more thing about the BPA vs. need debate, I think we also have to factor in how far along we are now when factoring that in. When you are rebuilding and are multiple years away from SB aspirations you just keep collecting the most talent you can regardless of positions but the closer you get to the SB I feel that is when it makes more sense to draft for need and plug a hole if the talent are close otherwise. Like a simplistic point of view if in a vacuum one guy you have an 85 grade on but another is 83 or 84 but that 83 or 84 is a clear need and can benefit the team right away I'd take him when you are in the position we are right now.
  10. I know Holmes doesn't draft for need but I'm sure they atleast take that into account when filling out their boards so if I were a betting man unless some major talent slides I'd expect an o lineman to be our 1st pick.
  11. Lions resign DPJ for 1yr/2 million. Not sure if the expectations are that he is going to just take over the Reynolds role or if this is just a depth signing. Personally I hope it's the latter and they are still going after Reynolds or somebody else to be the starting along with Jamo and St. Brown.
  12. Jung has had a really nice spring with the bat, great to see after he finished last season strong as well. I'd imagine he's either going to start in Toledo or be there in short order.
  13. I always liked Skip, goes back to the locker room video a couple years ago where everybody was chanting "Skip Skip Skip" and you can see him start to tear up. He won me over after watching that and on the field while not being a stud he never seemed to really stick out to me in a bad way.
  14. NOt sure if it's like this for MLB but I know for NHL it did that for me when I tried watching the Wings game they had on there cause I lived in the Detroit area.
  15. Considering Harbaugh's love for JJ he's probably trying to talk the Chargers brass into drafting him and getting rid of Herbert.
  16. Christian Ponder comes to mind, I think he was a top 10 pick in 2011 or 12. Ended up being a complete bust of course.
  17. Im guessing Minny is trying to get more ammunition to move up for a qb. The Michigan fan in me hopes its not JJ cause Id hate to have to root against him which would be the case if he ends up a Viking.
  18. Don't forget about the GOAT Jack Fox!
  19. Barring injury it feels almost certain that Jobe will be up at some point later this year even if its just for a start or 2 and next year he should be entrenched in the rotation.
  20. Also doesn't take into account penalties, Jacobs was 2nd in the league in PI calls with 6(Snead was actually the only one that had more) and among the leaders in total penalties with 9. Where as Carlton Davis wasn't called for a single PI and only had 3 accepted penalties in total against him.(Holding, illegal use of hands and unnecessary roughness)
  21. https://sidelionreport.com/posts/updated-detroit-lions-2024-draft-picks-after-carlton-davis-trade Also Schefter specifically says Lions 3rd round pick.
  22. 3 of the Pistons 11 wins have come against Charlotte, if they got to play them every night they'd be a playoff team!
  23. And to add insult to injury the QB they passed on had one of the best rookie seasons from a QB in a long time.
  24. Glasgow and Jonah Jackson were 3rd round picks as well. Also 7 of the 22 All Rookies this year were 3rd round or later. With that said statistically the odds are you aren't going to get somebody as good as Davis with that pick but I don't think the odds are as low as KL2 is saying. I do agree with him though that fans(myself included) tend to overrate picks like that cause the odds are that you are more likely to a replacement level player at best than a plus starter.
