  1. Yeah they aren't the easiest to find but it's just wild to me that we've had some relatively highly rated guys but just about all of them have come with the caveat that they can't play defense, like I know it's really tough to find a true two way guy that can hit and is also great in the field but you think we'd be able to find some that at the very least would come with something like "He may never win a gold glove but at the very least he should be able to field a corner position competently". From Nick to Tork to now Keith, JHM and Jung they all seem to not even come with that back ground.
  2. Sweet Lou missed alot of time but his OPS+ was much higher than his career rate in each of his last 5 seasons. I was too young to really remember how well he looked out there though but judging by his rate stats it certainly appeared that he had plenty left in the tank.
  3. To me the most glaring thing is how we have gotten worse every year under him, I get that when you choose to bottom out you are going to get worse before you get better but we've been in a consistent nose dive since we first bottomed out(or so we thought at the time bottomed out). I go back to the year we finished last and ended up getting Cade, if you look at that year yeah we finished with the worst record but we won quite a few games against good teams and overall were about as competitive as a last place team can be. Since then every year we've gotten a little worse instead of getting getting better like you would expect. Thankfully it seems like we are improving as this year has gone on so that is one positive, lets see if we can maintain that the rest of the year though or if this is just a "good" 3 week stretch.
  4. One of the more underappreciated baseball players of the last 40-50 years imo.
  5. I mentioned it before but its crazy to me how the Tigers can never seem to find a prospect that projects to be a two way player. By two way player I mean atleast can hold his own at a position, not necessarily even being plus or anything. Outside of Greene every prospect we've had in the past say 15 years they've all seem to essentially be position less or destined to DH.
  6. If you're horrible offensively your defense automatically gets overembelished. Its like people figure that you suck so bad offensively you must bring something to the table defensively. If it's not your defense they praise then you usually get labeled something like "scrappy" or a "glue guy".
  7. Maybe the Pistons analytic departments came up with an algorithm where Troy types in his proposed trade and sends it out but before the other team receives it the program changes it so it is the exact opposite of what he proposed.
  8. Ivey turning into Steph Curry from the deep the last few weeks has been an unexpected surprise. The bad news though is that he went 7-7 from deep yesterday but 1-16 from inside the arc. Oh well still averaged well over a point an attempt so I'll take that.
  9. What happened with him? Admittedly I'm not the best at scouting defense so maybe he has always been horrible but I felt like last year when I watched him he looked pretty good considering his age and experience level. I felt like he actually could potentially be one of the those guys that could stay on the floor if we ever made the playoffs but apparently that was completely off base on my part.
  10. BTW Ragnow came out and said flat out that he isn't retiring so we an put that pretty baseless speculation to rest.
  11. I'm pretty sure Weaver has traded away and received like a 100 different 2nd round picks since he has been here.
  12. They definitely have been playing better the past month or so and maybe not having Cade is part of that but I also just think they are progressing back to their mean. Like as bad as the team is they weren't worst team in the history of team sports bad like they were playing so now they are starting to find their true level which is merely "just" being your run of the mill bottom 5 team.
  13. The Rays are going to pick up Maton and he's going to make the All Star team.
  14. I saw that and personally from the Royals perspective I wasn't that big of fan of it due to all the opt outs. They basically gave him opts out on every one of his would be FA deals so KC is taking on all the risk now without being able to reap any possible rewards if in 5 years Witt is viewed as a top 5 player and viewed as a guy that could get 400 million on the open market. Without the opt outs they would be reaping some rewards by getting him at "only" some 35 million a year but with them he will just opt out or re work the contract where he is paid his worth if he ends up being a top tier superstar. OTOH if he completely flames out and never hits his full potential then KC is on the hook for nearly 300 million dolllars.
  15. Haha, he did say though that if it was an offense only list he would clearly make it but the fact that he doesn't seem to have a position and may be destined to DH is why he made the "just missed" list.
  16. Yeah I could see the Tigers winning 90 games if everything goes right and they get lucky with things like 1 run games or runners on base/scoring position. OTOH I wouldn't be shocked if they lost 90 games if luck went south or they have some key injuries.
  17. I think the Ragmow retirement talk stems from him talking about always being in pain and overall just how beat up he is. Then mentioned something along the lines of going to the Pro Bowl to "get away from things"(or something of that nature) gave people the thought that maybe he was doing some soul searching or something that may lead him to the conclusion that he is just tired of always being beat up and maybe it's time to hang things up.
  18. It's one of the things that I'll believe when I see but Colin Cowherd is saying that Caleb Williams camp told him that they will not play for the Bears if they draft him. I believe Colin cause I think he has alot of USC connections but still skeptical that they will actually stick to that threat.
  19. Should have the Marlboro logo.
  20. We'll see as the process gets further along but there's always guys falling. Last year guys like Joey Porter, Cam Smith and Brian Branch were being thrown around for our 2nd pick most of the draft process and they all lasted to the 2nd round. I will say though obviously given how productive our first four picks were last year(well maybe not so much Campbell but I still have high hopes for him) it's hard to be too critical of Holmes but I'd feel alot better at this point if we would've taken a true CB instead of drafting Hooker or Martin. There were still some good ones available at those points last year.
  21. Damn Carl Weathers died, only posting it here cause the last thing I saw of him was the Fan Duel commercial with Gronk during the Lions game last week and then commenting on how he gave me "Aaron Glenn vibes" with his gray facial hair.
  22. Bucs Center Ryan Jensen just announced his retirement. Between him and the rumored Jason Kelce retirement lets hope they aren't giving Frank any ideas! Of course those guys are quite a bit older than Frank but given how beat up Frank always seems to be he may be thinking long and hard about stepping away from the game.
  23. I doubt it, I mean Javy has been here two years now and Mayer hasnt even gotten to AAA yet. The timelines simply don't match up.
  24. I'm always a bit weary of drafting guys early from smaller schools but watching film on him and I'm really liking that DB from Toledo Quinyon Mitchell. Outside of the aforementioned smaller school he seems to have all the boxes checked, good size, speed(apparently a verified 4.3 40) and the type of ball hawking skills you love to see from an early corner as he led the nation in pass break ups in 2022 and 23.
