  1. I remember when ESPN did their "Fame" rankings a few years back where they took the 100 most famous athletes in the world. They used things like endorsements, social media followers and mentions among other things and I think out of the 100 only Ohtani made it from baseball. Just wild knowing how famous baseball players once were.
  2. I think Riley will always fly under the radar cause he doesn't excel at things the MLB hypes like HR, steals or overall flashiness. You basically need to either be a 40/40 type guy or 50 HR guy to get any type of national hype.
  3. They remind me alot of some of those old Rays teams that were always good. They have versatility up and down the lineup. Play good defense, run the bases well and always have players put in the best situation for them to succeed. Hopefully unlike them we actually will win a World Series though.
  4. I've read a couple possible fluff pieces on Dylan Smith and how dominant he has looked since moving to the pen. I'm holding out hope that he could be a guy that could help us internally in the pen later this year.
  5. The 2007 team? Im pretty sure they got to like 15 games over .500 by one point in the first half of the season.
  6. We know Dombrowski and Avila along with Pudge had a connection with Miggy so once it became known in the inner circle of the league that he could be available I could see one or all of them talking him up to Ilitch. Then maybe a week or two later when it became known outside of the inner circle and national rumors started running rampant Mike may have went back to them and said go get that guy.
  7. I question the reliability of defensive metrics this early in the season especially for catchers but FWIW according to savant Dingler is 10th in baseball in fielding run value at +5. That's not 10th among catchers but 10th among ALL fielders.
  8. Sonny Gray feels like he's been a Tigers killer going all the way back to his A's days.
  9. I know most don't care about Rankings but for those that do the Tigers moved up to number 2 in mlb.com power rankings and to the top spot in CBS's rankings. I'm sure you'd have to go back to 2014 at the earliest before you'd find the Tigers in the top spot of any national power rankings.
  10. I know Law said in one of his latest chats that he likes Rainer over Griffin as well.
  11. Hard to believe that Pacheco is still only 22, feels like he has been around forever.
  12. There was a stretch from 84-2014 where you only had 8 franchises with titles the Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, Spurs, Heat and Mavericks. And all but the Mavericks won multiple titles.
  13. LOLEAFS!!!!
  14. Pretty cool tidbit even if minor league team record isn't always the best indicator of system strength.
  15. In regards to Olson being pulled it is now being reported that he left due to a "finger cramp". Don't know if I ever heard that one before.
  16. I feel like we're definitely going to have to go shopping for a reliever or 2 this deadline.
  17. I'm guessing it was less about pitch count and more about the fact that he didn't want Vladdy seeing Olson for a 3rd time.
  18. Greene starts with 2Ks in a game where Tork homers in his first at bat. Par for the course there cause they never both have a good game.
  19. Famous baseball twitter and youtube account "Pitching Ninja" nicknamed him "The Babyface Assassin" due to that face.
  20. So my FB memory today is of me congratulating Miggy on his 400th HR. This was 10 years ago, if you would've told me then that he would only hit 111 more in his career I never would've believed you.
  21. The biggest difference between teams in terms of income is local TV deals, the Dodgers get nearly 250 million a year for theirs while a team like the Tigers is like a quarter of that. Even if you want to throw out the Dodgers as an anomaly the difference between some teams and others is still 50 to 100 million dollars with some cases even higher. That's 2-4 high priced free agents difference right there. It will never happen but if they were to pool up all the regional deals and split them evenly between teams then things would be alot different.
  22. People talk about the strength of the schedule but sometimes it's not about who you play but when you play them and the Lions have the most "rest days" in the NFL. By rest days it means how much longer it has been since you played vs. your opponent. The Lions have an NFL leading 5 games where they play teams coming off Monday Night Football which is a big advantage. Also only 1 game all season will the Lions be coming off less rest than their opponent and even that is only a 1 day difference. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/betting/teams-hurt-helped-nfl-schedule-rest-disparity-2025/
