  1. I had a well endowed Aunt, who was quite the partier in the Nashville music and bar scene in the 60s and 70s, she says that Jimmy Buffet slept on the floor in her trailer for a week. When she would hug me as a kid she would shove my head into her cleavage. She was always telling me "Robert, come over here and hug my neck" Everyone thought it was funny. Even I was self aware enough to know that it wasn't really a good thing.
  2. I think that the sentiment is in that ballpark. 9/11 to now is like the Iranian Hostage crisis was in 2011. Younger people would be more familiar with the aftermath of the invasion and response to 9/11, all 20 years of it, than the event itself. And for people like my son who is 23 9/11 has always been there. In that situation you can’t fullly appreciate the shock of it. I will claim right now to have done more reading on the JFK assassination than anyone here but even I cannot grasp at the impact of it because to me he was always the guy who got shot. That was the first thing I learned about him. I didn’t know him as the candidate and living and breathing leader giving press conferences who suddenly was gone. the shock of the US being attacked on our soil go that degree is not there for people who lived in a world where that event always existed.
  3. This is a big one. I feel like the tide is turning. Maybe because I am older but I know a lot of people who just don’t drink anymore. on a similar subject… hugging. Don’t ask people to hug. Not everybody is an hugger. Figure it out. If they side hug you then learn that they aren’t into that. Especially younger girls. Don’t even initiate it with them. I just ran into this last night. A 40 something repeatedly asking a 7 year old for a hug. Nothing malicious about it but it needs to be taught that we all have to understand that when girls say no then accept it. That will help them late on. They will learn they can say no.
  4. “Your trick play tricked us even though you told us about it before the game and again when it happened. It’s your fault” so they are admitting their refs are stupid ?
  5. I still do a double take when I see the Brewers in the NL playoffs or Astros in the AL playoffs.
  6. There are 3 kinds of “mistakes”. The first is when the body doesn’t do what the mind wants it to. A bad throw. Dropped pass. Missed putt. Etc. When I hear fans try to downplay the importance of this call by pointing out “well if Goff hits his guy…”. That misses the point. Those are execution errors that’s based on skill level. Both sides are competing hard to win. Sometimes you execute and sometimes you don’t. No amount of practice or prep will deliver 100% results. The players know immediately they messed up. The second kind are judgement calls. Either you didn’t see it or saw something and didn’t feel at that moment it rose to the level, or vice versa. Snap calls made on the spot. Those are somewhat forgivable and there’s replay to help out. this kind of mistake is just a flat out screw up. I don’t even know what to call it. The only analogy I can think of is a baseball manager telling the umpire of a lineup change in the 8th inning then they get called out for batting out of order.
  7. Whoever does that for Fox has good taste. Lots of foam bands. Just a few seconds can alter a bands year.
  8. Pistons are going to win tonight…FYI
  9. Didn’t even bother showing the replay.
  10. There’s a certain justice there in my mind. Going back to the automotive world and what the wives and daughters were supposed to do. I thiught the team is Martha’s 100%.
  11. Do y’all still consider it “the Ford family” with regard to ownership? I don’t. It’s one person. Sheila is listed as chairman and principal owner.
  12. Hell… if he hadn’t gotten that TV show he could have ended up in prison. The apprentice really altered his trajectory and put him back into relevance. If the writers hasn’t been on strike that show wouldn’t have existed.
  13. They elected Tuberville. They are 75% at that clown state.
  14. “States can’t decide this in their own…” ”this should be left up to the states…”
  15. I don’t have a problem with her or the Michigan court or the Colorado court. She’s cleverly using both decisions to show her “non partisan” finding. I don’t see them in conflict with each other. Both states have primaries but different rules in how they are run.
  16. It is worth noting that Colorado and MIchigan were not deciding the same thing. They were each answering different questions under different standards. Colorado said “you can’t put someone on a primary ballot who doesn’t meet the requirements to be president, like age and birthright, etc including insurrection”. Michigan said “you can put anyone on the primary ballot… , a dog. Mickey Mouse. A 23 year old. If they were to win that nomination then it’s your responsibility to resolve any eligibility requirements”
  17. With a large polish family the month of December has been full of this. I only ate what we brought or made. Spent last Wednesday making 200 pierogi with my wife, aunt, mother in law, and cousin who wanted to learn. I was a hawk on hand washing to the point of being scolded. I don’t care. There’s a train of thought that since someone “never got sick” that it will never happen.
  18. Man if you told me I could spend $1100 right now for 2 for each game I wouldn’t hesitate.
  19. I remember that. I got lucky and sold my extras for face. After game 2 people were getting them for like $30.
  20. That seems very reasonable. Back when the tigers were competitive the ALCS tickets were in the $100 range. World Series tickets $200. That was over 10 years ago. Those prices are concert level for top acts. Not bad at all. I think we paid like $150 for Pink.
  21. So I have been thinking on this and it’s time the US and other nation begin to call on Israel to change tactics. What they are doing now is not working will never work. Hamas doesn’t give a **** if Palestinians dies. In fact they like it because it emboldens them. Israel had the right to retaliate and defend itself but if they haven’t been able to achieve their objective by now then do something else. Hamas is not a normal ruling government.
  22. I think of it just in terms of relevance and reasonable expectations of playoff success and this ends what I think is the longest drought since that 70s era. The Tigers did contend in the strike year of’81 and had what was considered a good team prior to 84. Then you throw in the wings and pistons in the late 80s. The Wings covered you for 20+ years, throw in the pistons and tigers until the 2014 time frame. Our sports scene needed this from the Lions. They are carrying the torch.
