I'm strange for being a big baseball fan but on vacation I have no real desire to go to an MLB park for a game... I'd rather spend that time doing something I can't normally do. I go to 30 MLB games a year. THe only exception would be something like Yankee Stadium, Fenway, or Pittsburgh. I've been outside of the stadium in SF so I feel like I already went there. Part of it is cost.... I'm already a few thousand bucks in the hole and we're dropping a few hundred here and there while on vacation.... I don't want to add to that.

We are going near the TB region this year for vacation, we went in 2021 but they had red tide which made swimming in the gulf not really an option, plus it rained 3 of the 4 days. This will be a do over. My wife is like "Why don't we go to a game?" I'm trying to tell her that stadium is horrible and I have no desire. I'm open to going to a minor league game somewhere if we can find one. As it is, they are away anyway so dodged that bullet. "What kind of fan are you if you don't want to go to another MLB ballpark". "The kind of fan that doesn't need to go to the equivalent of the Pontiac Silverdome"

Well… Oct 7 is my birthday so yeah… long love Oct 7. This last year was my 50th and I spent it at Cooperstown. I kept getting alerts about the massacre but I was distracted.

I quit wearing a watch until I took up running and got a Garmin for that. I don’t look at it for time. I look at it to see how many steps I have or if I get a notification on my phone that goes to my watch. It’s much more valuable for that. In a meeting or at dinner or whatever and your phone buzzes… just glance to see who it is. Much less obtrusive

I listened tonight on a walk. Very good. It’s going to be fun. I learned some things about them. It’s funny, I remember Dan kicking around the reporting arena then suddenly getting some innings and I didn’t think anything of it. “Oh just a guy they are bringing in”. Not unlike Matt Shepard.

Each of the 3 have unique qualifications. Gordie is Mr. Hockey and probably revered more in Canada than in Detroit and that’s saying more about Canada because Detroit loves him obviously. It’s just that he and others reach national levels like Ali. Yzerman was the face of the franchise for over a generation. I’d say the only thing putting him over Lidstrom, if you choose to, is his leadership and captaincy. I won’t argue with you. He’s no lower than 3 obviously. Lidstrom is Mr Perfect and I can’t recall any reasonable criticism of him or his play. Won a ton of Norris Trophies and finished second quite a few times. He would have been team captain longer if not for Yzerman’s standing.

Anytime there's a Trump rally you see the fringes with their confederate flags, maybe a swastika, some real hatred going on. Do we go through the mental exercise of excusing some members of that rally as just being caught up in it? A person is resonsibile for the company they keep. The FBI in on heightened alert for attacks against Jews. What we are seeing at Columbia and other places of "higher learning" is not unlike what we saw in the 50's in the south. I can't believe we are seeing this in this country in 2024 and it's not a bigger story. It would never ever be tolerated if it were another group.

youth is wasted on the youth. These kids are just plain stupid. But it's genearational. They were the Occupy Wall Street folks 15 years ago. Every group of early college kids gets an issue that they can pretend to be adults about and build camps and pretend to be activists and think they are changing the world. 4 years ago it was BLM. I'll concede most are pawns just caught up in a movement (Like many January 6 folks) but this time instead of fighting racism they are participating in racism by this movements leaders. They should be smarter to realize it.
