  1. I would argue that the IF snagging a 110 mph meant the hitter put it in the wrong spot. That's within the bounds of competition. Hitter got beat by an opposing competitor who also did his job well.
  2. How often does the GOP discard someone over outside behavior?
  3. I'm not saying move the fences in to make the team better. I'm saying move it in because I think the product on the field is degraded because of them. The game itself. As a fan I like success rewarded. Someone mashes the ball correctly and is denied b/c he's in 1 of 30 parks... that makes me feel cheated. I like quality baseball. I like when players are out at the plate because of two strong and well executed relay throws. I like to see excellence in action. If someone does their job they should be rewarded. also maybe in 2017 the Tigers would have been way above average in HR.
  4. I'm in on moving in the walls too. Don't have to make it a band box like Cleveland but it's just too extreme the way it is today. I do think it messes with our players heads and their approach. Visiting players not so much because they're only here for a few days so they know it's over soon.
  5. Over/Under on # of Miggy HR's in 2023? 4.
  6. Justin has a player option available for $25 Million for 2023. Will he pick it up? He and the Astros seem to be getting along pretty well and it wouldn't shock me if he picks it up or they announce a 2 year 60 contract. Unless there's some things going on behind the scenes where he'd not want to stay with a team that's sitting on 105 games and he's had the best years of his career and they gave him the deal after TJ with that unknown
  7. I always thought Miller would have been the optimal choice for him at that time.
  8. The weird thing is once mid August and September hit I watched more games attended on a regular basis than the beginning of the season. Seems like things winded down for me and the weather was decent. I went to 3 games last week, plus a Mud Hens game. Because of that I will miss them.
  9. Not quite from my understanding. The lottery only determines picks 1-6 but every non postseason team is eligible to be one of those picks. Not much variance according to this chart between 6th and 7th place.
  10. I really notice it the last week of the baseball season because I often have to put my headlights on for the last 2 games.
  11. Yea the ISS. 220 miles up. Was really cool when the space shuttle would link up and you saw two bright lights.
  12. I saw Sayles in the beginning of some lame movie. It was one that came on after one I had just finished. It was bad. I just thought “that’s the writer from eight men out”. Wasn’t until later I learned his history and he was a legit independent filmmaker and writer. He helped out with Apollo 13 and wrote something that eventually became ET.
  13. I track the space station and in the Detroit area it’s visible tonight. Time: Tue Oct 04 7:56 PM, Visible: 7 min, Max Height: 66°, Appears: 10° above WNW, Disappears: 9° above SE I am a sucker for this. I watch it every time it comes over on a clear night.
  14. I just read a while back they took those off specifically.
  15. That's been on recently. watched bits of it the last two nights. Sad it's not as accurate as we've learned but still a great movie to watch. It's so tight. Every piece of dialogue moves the story along. No filler at all. On a related note I'm reading an oral history of MTV and learned that John Sayles directed Born in the USA and Glory Days. Bruce hated videos but agreed to those two if he'd direct them.
  16. Regarding the federal elections.... do you think we'll know early on which way it's going to go or will it be a nail biter? I think we will know fairly soon. It won't be an all nighter. Some swing districts in the east will tell us the story and what the polls were doing. i'll need some kind of info on key swing districts though. Too often the pundits will just say things like "IL-06 went R" like I'm supposed to know it's competitive.
  17. yeah the word icon gets thrown around a lot but in this case it's 100% true and then some. Coal Miner's Daughter was such an awesome movie. My parents grew up like that and that's my favorite part of the movie. When I was a kid I still have family that lived in a holler. I hated going because they didn't have plumbing or electricity. That sounds awesome now.
  18. I don't because of the drama. I have very nice neighbors who are very catholic and pro life. Very good people. But that's their calling. They told me they were surprised when I had my biden sign up. Of course nobody has offered me a sign either. I had to drive out to the East side for my Biden sign in 2020 and was more than happy to "get out" and do it. But one person with nothing to do can go around and beg people to put up a sign. Whitmer supporters are busy working.
  19. Its grotesque because it's not a blowout.
  20. and while I know you disregarded defense... was Schalk even any good, at least a HOF type player. My impression is he got in because he was well liked and wasn't part of the Eight. A good old boy.
  21. I think the signs near us are because of one person. I won't say where they live but I've seen her going around house to house, she came to ours. Her original candidate for Gov got like .5%.
  22. Tram was beset by injuries beginning in 1988. But he still was a decent player when he did play. Made the ASG in ‘90.
  23. It's ok to give Tork more time. His defense seems pretty good there and lets give the org an off season to look at things and hopefully give him some valuable instruction and feedback.
  24. 8 mile run followed by sitting in the sunshine. Can’t beat it. Beautiful day to close out another season of games.
