  1. The best response I saw to the "Golden at bat" rule.
  2. Is this game on Hulu? Same thing happened last year. I bring up the app on my TV and I cannot find it anywhere.
  3. I wonder if Charlie Kirk has ever had consensual sex.
  4. The reaction to the pardon by critics is appropriate in normal times. But the cat's out of the bag. We surpassed normal times 8 years ago. The political world had a demarcation line, pre trump and post trump. In the post trump world and with his election once again we've decided rules don't matter anymore. The old standards where a career or admin is ruined is gone.
  5. Could be an overreaction too... like someone suggested it, they discussed it as every suggestion, no matter how dumb, is discussed.... then it leaks. Technically they discused it and it sounds bigger than it really is.
  6. right. Putin wants Ukraine and to today's republican party, Putin gets what Putin wants so the fact Ukraine didn't roll over then he has to start a war and that war is Ukraine's fault and it's the fault of everybody who is supporting Ukraine in their defense. If hey would just roll over then there's no problems. Classic mafia and bully tactics. If these bars and restaurants would just play ball and pay their tribute to the Don then there wouldn't be any killings and bombings.
  7. The only president I can recall not having a hell of a time at the end of their term with pardons is W. His issue was in who he didn’t pardon (Libby). It’s huge news for a bit but then fades away. But of course Trump fans have to just keep their mouths shut about rules of law, etc. you need to sit this one out and go back to your holes and shut up.
  8. Sounds like they are perfect for the Republican party then. I don't give a **** that he did it. The standard was set 8 years ago that nothing mattered anymore, that there's no standards that have to be met. No such thing as a right or a wrong, Presidents and their people can do anything they want without consequences. Any right leaners who get upset over it are exposing themselves and raging hypocrites... but hey, we knew that already. Biden is finally playing the game as it's called.
  9. I'll throw this here since it's about music... The Yacht Rock documentary on Max is fantastic. I highly recommend it. It validated for me a love of songs I wasn't supposed to like at my age but I did. It's great to see the reach of these artists and how this genre (named long after the music was created) evolved and was revived later on through hip hop. I learned so much. And yes, What a Fool Believes is the the gold standard.
  10. The reactions to the pardon show the continuing dissonance. People seriously acting like this is now what Trump needs to do his pardons? Do they write that with a straight face? Democrats get no credit or bonus votes for doing the right thing. Making the elite class happy and not pissing them off gets you nowhere. Nate Silver's like "don't vote for a democrat who doesn't denounce this in 48 hours". An acceptance of a pardon are an admission of guilt.
  11. Thinking out loud… if you pay a team for a player, does that count against the luxury tax threshold? If a receiving team pays off a deferred salary arent they in essence paying the team? It’s an obligation they made. The contractual obligation for a years salary was met, the player just agreed to basically give them a loan.
  12. Are the deferrals linked to a particular year? I imagine it would be part of the negotiation in the trade. I know we had this discussion when Ohtani signed but I forgot the details. Isn’t the deferred money still counted against the luxury tax threshold based on its present value?
  13. The woke made the military and Christian’s illegal. We are going to put the King James Bible back in Friday night football where it belongs.
  14. Does that mean we will have to put up with more forced patriotism during sporting events. Sponsored by GM of course.
  15. I have a group of female acquaintances who did nothing but whine about how much Biden screwed up the economy yet on Friday they took pictures from every store they went to from about 4:30 on. My ass. But that’s white trash for you. They got a “great deal” on some crap.
  16. That book was groundbreaking for me.
  17. I think I mentioned this before but it’s what Michael Kinsley brought up back in the early 90s. He was talking about killing abortion doctors. If you think a fetus is deserving of all the same rights as a birthed baby then you morally have to support killing abortion doctors because obviously anybody would support killing someone you knew was murdering babies in a hospital.
  18. I wonder how those who brag about their religious and Christian views and their support of DJT feel about him being married to a certified whore. Are they smart enough to recognize the contradiction and hypocrisy? I would certainly feel like a dupe espousing those views.
  19. That’s indicative of what amounts to conservatism or Republican politics today. They like slogans and catch phrases but never can address the ramifications and consequences if you apply their thinking to the fullest extent. They don’t want to hear about the details. They just want what sounds good to secure a vote from the uninformed.
  20. One of the things I like most about visiting family in TN are the loose dogs. I have cousins who between them and their folks had about 50 acres, with 4 houses spread out on the land they owned. There was always a few dogs running around. It was a rural-ish area. When my dog is outside I can't relax. I leave one of the entry doors, out to the enclosed patio area with another door, open so I won't forget he's out there. But in TN... the dogs are just around. You leave some food out for them, they'll eat it when ready.
  21. Or if you are a "Pro life" man (Especially a politician or pastor) who gets their mistress pregnant.
  22. It’s futile to discuss medicine and science with people who think women are second class citizens which is what “pro life” is all about. Pro life men only love women when they can control them. It’s all patriarchal bull**** based on religion and religion has no place in public policy.
  23. "Right to life" is one of the biggest misnomers out there.
  24. even with Christians.... which one? There isn't just a Bible. There's a catholic bible that contains books not in a "protestant" Bible. And Protestants can't figure out which translation is best either.
