I'm sure he's probably not the only guy to have ever done it, but my all time favorite checked swing was when Willie Horton broke his bat. Edited Wednesday at 03:21 AM by gehringer_2 Quote
papalawrence Posted Wednesday at 06:22 AM Posted Wednesday at 06:22 AM Watched the end of the AZ vs LAD game. AZ went up 2 in the top of the 10th. In comes none other than Shelby Miller to pitch the bottom. LAD scores 3 to walk it off. Quote

It was probably a lot harder to check a swing on a 40-ounce bat than on today’s 32-ouncers. Quote

Zona chose to intentionally walk what was the winning run, granted that guy was Shohei Ohtani, but that’s a pretty questionable strategy. Betts sacrificed the runner to 3rd and inexplicably they don’t hold Ohtani on first base even with a double play and he promptly steals second essentially forcing them to intentionally walk Freeman to load the bases up but still up 1 with one out. Miller hits the next guy with a pitch to tie the game and an easy sac fly wins it for the Dodgers. Quote

In May, being used to close, he has 5.83 ERA and 929 OPS against. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Wednesday at 10:32 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:32 PM The American League is doing pretty well against the National League right now. The Minnesota Twins swept three from the Giants then took two of three from the Brewers. The Kansas City Royals just took two of three from the Giants on the road. The Angels swept 3 from the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium last weekend and the Mariners swept 3 from San Diego on the road at the same time. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted Thursday at 05:53 PM Posted Thursday at 05:53 PM Giants put Verlander on the DL so no chance of him pitching in Comerica next week. It's been almost 8 yrs since he left and I don't think he has pitched here but maybe once or twice. 1 Quote

Vierling played 3rd the past 2 games. Meadows has played this week as well. So far 1 for 5 with 2 walks in 2 games. Edited Friday at 02:34 PM by 4hzglory Quote

Sports_Freak Posted Friday at 05:24 PM Posted Friday at 05:24 PM JV wouldn't have been scheduled to pitch at Comerica in the upcoming series against the Giants. But now he's on the IL, so he won't be pitching for sure. Quote
bobrob2004 Posted Friday at 10:35 PM Posted Friday at 10:35 PM The 2025 Colorado Rockies have the worst record after 50 games to start the season in the modern era at 8-42. The only team to have a worst record after 50 games in the history of baseball are the 1895 Louisville Colonels at 7-43. The 1899 Cleveland Spiders, who have the overall worst record in baseball history (20-134) were 9-41 to start the season. Quote

RatkoVarda Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago CWS up 10-5 in the 8th; if they hold on Baltimore would be in last place in the AL, ahead of only Colorado in MLB. What a disaster. Quote
