He will play back-to-back outfield games on May 13-14, including center field, then he is expected to play one more game at designated hitter around May 15. From there, Vierling will split time between third base and outfield, possibly from May 16-18, to mirror the multi-positional role he fills with the Tigers." https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2025/05/11/matt-vierling-injury-update-detroit-tigers/83569705007/ well, close. He played RF on the 13th, DH'd again on the 14th (today). So maybe RF tomorrow. Quote
TigerNation Posted May 15 Posted May 15 Notice Briceno has missed back to back games. Any word on what's wrong there? Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Watching the Mudhens play Scranton on MILB right now and Jake is the catcher. Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Kreidler just struck out with the bases loaded the Mudhens lead 13–4 Quote
IdahoBert Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Mudhens scored seven runs in the top of the 9th and won 20–7. I find it hard to believe that almost 3000 fans were at that game. I suppose a lot of season ticket holders were not there. https://www.milb.com/gameday/mud-hens-vs-railriders/2025/05/15/780616/live/box Quote
gehringer_2 Posted May 16 Author Posted May 16 Jake played for Toledo tonight but Vierling and McGonigle both sat. Quote

RandyMarsh Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Physically and the way he stands at the plate I always get Kendrys Morales vibes with Liranzo, if he put up prime Morales numbers while being able to handle catching that would be a pretty damn good outcome for the Tigers. Quote

gehringer_2 Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 Matt Manning's BA against was 300 after his last start. In his 5 relief appearances in May since moving to strictly relief, it has been 189. Hope Matt has found his niche. 1 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Has anyone seen Vierling make any throws from the OF? How's his shoulder look? Quote

IDK about from the OF but they said he had no throws in the game he played at 3rd so he'll keep rotating in there until he gets tested. Quote

Both him and Campos have prospect fatigue, I am holding out hope that this is more than a hot streak but I am not holding my breath. 1 Quote

Pacheco's has had a great 47 at-bat run in May, but also it is his 4th year at WMI. prospects are not all on the same timeline and he's had injuries, so there's always a chance it works out I guess Quote
4hzglory Posted May 19 Posted May 19 BA just did a statcast article and compared Lee to Marcelo Mayer and said it's much closer than people think. Showed Lee is hitting the ball harder, than Mayer, but Mayer is getting better launch angle. Lee has also been unlucky on BABIP (except for the past week). Mayer's defensive versatility gives him the overall edge as a prospect, but BA thinks they are very close. Similarly, they compared Rainer and Konnor Griffin. Rainer is hitting the ball harder and has better swing decisions, and his power is a notch better, where Griffin makes better contact when he chases. They said they would pick Rainer now as a hitter and compared him to Jackson Holliday as a prospect. 2 1 Quote
