Andy Ibáñez and Ryan Kreidler have been recalled to take the active roster spots of Olson and Meadows. Clearly they are showcasing Kreidler to Arizona for Suarez. 1 Quote

Ryan, Duran, and Jax for one of Clark/McGonigle, 1 of Briceno/Rodriguez, Jung, Hamm, and another pitching prospect of choice -preferably not Melton, but ok with Montero. 3 difference making pitchers under control for 2 plus seasons-would cost a lot, but this would be the type return I’d be good with parting with 2 of our top 6. Trade within the division? That's absolute madness. That never happens. Quote

papalawrence Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I've read a half dozen places today that Detroit is still in on Suarez. BTW, x-rays from today are negative. He is in a 1-21 swoon. Historically he's been prone to long slumps. In fact, 2025 is the first time his ops has been. 800+ in 5 years. I'd think Max Anderson would likely be the headliner that Harris is offering. We'll find out soon. Quote

romad1 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I did not see that the Royals lot Kris Bubic to season-ending shoulder issue within the past couple days. Being a SP is like being a junior officer in the trenches in WW1. 1 Quote

I saw a bsky thing that appeared to be AI written that AJ Hinch sent Suarez a personal message after the game. I hate having to sort out garbage news like this. Anyone see that from a better source? Klondike Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Nothing says "we want you" more than plunking him and almost breaking his fingers. 1 Quote
RatkoVarda Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 Suarez wants a trade, he said he'd like to come to Detroit which is rare. but he just wants any trade: no QO, and he can play in playoffs, and maybe a big showing there gets him a nice contract Quote

lordstanley Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Apparently Suarez was also hit on the hand at the All Star Game. I don't recall. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 29 Posted July 29 I’m no expert - let alone a strategy expert - but I’m not particularly interested in the short term rental of a 34-year-old guy. Quote

chasfh Posted July 29 Posted July 29 It doesn't escape my notice that the only people I've seen strongly suggest a Tigers/Suarez trade are Nightingale and Feinsand, national guys who possibly have their own agendas. Outside of people like Shawn Windsor citing them as sources, the only thing I have heard a local guy say about this is Cody saying it's unlikely. Quote
chasfh Posted July 29 Posted July 29 15 minutes ago, KL2 said: Not a lot of good 26 year olds available True though this may be, it doesn't mean we have to liquidate top prospects for two months of Suarez. If Suarez were the missing piece we need, or maybe one of two missing pieces we need, I'd be a lot more open to paying good money to get him. Quote
romad1 Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Blue Jays, Dodgers Among Teams Interested In Steven Kwan - MLB Trade Rumors If the Guardians are trading away Kwan...its good and bad. Good because he's a white flag for the division race but bad because we might face him in the Battles of October. Quote

SoCalTiger Posted July 29 Posted July 29 Suárez price seems to high. If it happens for us it would probably be a last minute decision when one side blinks. I don’t think it will happen though. Quote
RatkoVarda Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 Giants just signed Diego Cartaya to a minor league deal. This guy was a the #14 overall prospect in 2023. The Dodgers, a really well run franchise full of smart people, resisted all requests to include him in trades for years. Then he collapsed and now is available for nothing as a minor league free agent. The opportunity cost of not trading Cartaya is hard to measure, but real and probably significant. 1 1 Quote
