So they would need to designate Baez for assignment and basically be done with him.  

And you want them to keep a guy who can't hit and isn't as good on defense?  Sweeney has no future in the big leagues other than possibly a utility guy or the guy who plays in AAA and gets called up when injuries happen.

I can't see any team DFA a player that started on the AS team a week and a half ago.  The whole team sucks right now not just Javy.  Sweeney isn't an everyday player at least at this point in his career.

I think it will be Meadows going to Toledo when Carpenter returns.  Sweeney is their back-up shortstop.  McKinstry can play there, but shortstop is not his best position and he is their most frequent third baseman at the moment.  Vierling, Perez and Greene would cover center field.

I want all the various good young guys to get ABs.  I realize Baez is the great athlete he is.  He's having some crap ABs right now.  He's back to his old bad habits.
